Lagoon and breastfeeding

So I thought I would share with you a short story that I found quite humorous...now that it is over.

This year we bought family passes to Lagoon because we knew we would be going a couple of times this summer while family and friends were in town. We decided to be spontaneous last Friday night and just spend the evening there. I picked up Ryan from work and we headed up to the park about 5:30. I had a small bottle pack for Isaac and he had just eaten, so I thought he might be able to survive without nursing at the park for our evening outing.

We were having a great time! Isaac got hungry however, while we were on the train, so I thought I should feed him. Maya and I found the rest of the gang and I sat down on the bench to feed. The bad thing was that I forgot my "hooter hider" and only had a small blanket. We sad down and I fed for a little bit, but I wanted someplace more private. (Isaac was frustrated, and the small blanket was not "hiding" everything. I was using my jacket so my side wasn't showing . ANYWAYS.....we found a nice quiet spot in Pioneer village near a little pond with a fountain next to a silver coin collection building. Perfect! So Ryan and the rest of the crew found us there. The boys were walking along the cement edging around the pond and Ryan warned them to get off so they didn't fall in. THey all went into the coin shop while Isaac finished his meal. Well, the boys got bored and so they went back to the pond. Then all I hear is, SPLASH!!! Evan had "fallen" into the brown murky pond, and I am sitting there with a child attached to my boob helplessly shouting for Ryan who is enjoying the coins in the coinshop. Luckily a twenty-something guy ran over an scooped Evan out. Phew!! Ryan comes running out and the look on Evan's face was so sad. He knew he was busted! He started to cry. I told Ryan not to lose his temper, and then the truth came out and we found out that Connor had pushed him off the edge. BUSTED!!!!! (Brotherly love...I am sure Evan will get him back someday for that) Luckily I had stuffed a couple of articles of clothing in the bottom of the stroller and all was well.

So we are headed off to Lagoon today again. I wonder what adventure awaits us today! Needless to say I am definitely packing the "hooter hider"!

That is funny now, but I am sure at the time, not so cool. Evan is gonna have to do something good to get him back there. I HATE nursing in public. It is definitely the worst and I avoid it at all cost, hooter hiders are wonderful inventions.

Nursing in large public places is never fun. I love that Connor pushed evan in. That is so something boys do. Be greatful that you have one little girl in the bunch! Very funny story...also why is it that the husbands are always oblivious to the children when the mom is nursing...not just in public...ANYWHERE! even at home. There is nothing quite like having an infant attached to the boob and chasing a 4 an 2 year old around the house, keeping them from trouble...you know the routine...

Hey - found you from Allison's blog. Love this story! Nursing can be such an ordeal when your other kids are acting up. I don't know how some moms can be so chill about it. Yes, very funny in hindsight!
