LDS Visiting Teaching Handout

Hey everyone, today's download is this month's visiting teaching message. It's beautiful! Go and read the full message, it's linked below. It's all about Christ and His atoning sacrifice, and how we can better understand and relate to Christ through His atonement. The quote by Elder Todd Christoferson is so simple but so powerful! What was your favorite quote/section?
The full visiting teaching message can be found here - The Attributes of Jesus Christ: Without Sin.

Visiting Teaching Handout

This months Visiting Teaching Message is the beginning of a new theme: The Attributes of the Savior. This months attribute is Obedient Son. You can read more about the lesson here.

The phrase that stood out most to me was that "Obedience IS the first law of Heaven."

What was your favorite part of the message?

I hope you like the design.  I tried to go with something warm and springy. I really hate winter and wish it was warming up. Spring is my favorite season. Its just perfect outside. Not to hot, not too cold all the flowers are blooming. And I'm making myself sad. I will stop now.

Some Ideas on what to do with the handout.
  • She or you can use it as a bookmark.
  • Purchase a small photo frame - she can switch out the message each month.
  • Give her a small photo album - she can add the card to it and by the end of the year have a sweet little book full of nice uplifting messages.

Visiting Teaching Message Handout

Alright, we've never done this before. Consider this the Inaugural Visiting Teaching handout printable. I'm kind of excited about this. I've been wanting to do it for YEARS now but never did. I wasn't sure if I should. I'm not the greatest at designing posters. I can whip up an invitation or a photo card so fast it will make your head spin but posters take me forever and I always feel they're never finished.

With that said...I hope you like it, download it and use it.

The quote is from Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He taught: “The ideal place for … peace is within the walls of our own homes, where we have done all we can to make the Lord Jesus Christ the centerpiece.”.

This months full visiting teaching message can be found here - The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Prince of Peace. Read the whole thing it's very uplifting.

Some Ideas on what to do with the handout.
  • She or you can use it as a bookmark.
  • Purchase a small photo frame - she can switch out the message each month - totally perfect this month as a small Christmas gift.
  • Give her a small photo album - she can add the card to it and by the end of the year have a sweet little book full of nice uplifting messages - again, totally perfect this month as a small christmas gift.

LDS Baptism Invitation
Free Download

In about six months my little girl will be getting baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it's been on my mind a lot lately ("Am I ready? Is she ready? Do I teach her enough? Should I make her dress? Should I buy it? When will it be? It's Christmas time, are people gonna come? Should I take the pictures? Should I hire someone to take pictures?"). I just can't keep my mind off of it. There is one question I do know the answer to and that is I'll be designing her invitations.

In the spirit of freaking out over something that is six months away, I whipped up this little 5x7 Chalkboard Invitation Card. It also has a coordinating optional backside - in case you wanna really make this print fancy.

It's a pretty simple but it looks great. I think my favorite part is the chalkboard background. What do you like about it?

I used two fonts for this invitation Return To Sender and Century Gothic.  Make sure you have them installed on your computer before you open the psd file. Most computers should have Century Gothic installed already. Check before you download it.

*Remember - Loving Life Designs downloads are for followers only. We ask that if you download our creations you become a follower. It only takes a second. Thanks.

I've designed the invitation in three color schemes (Boy, Girl and Neutral) all with a coordinating optional backside.

A little note about the psd (photoshop) file -

If you want to use the optional coordinating backside for a double sided card stock card  - When you open the file, the first layer open will be the coordinating optional backside.  Save this first as a png or jpg file. *make sure you save it with a new name like "backside for invitation". Then hide the layer and then you'll see all the layers for the invitation.

Where can you print double sided cards? Use Loving Life Designs Print Services email us at lovinglifedesigns@gmail.com for more information or check us out on Etsy.

If you are not planning on using the optional backside - If you plan on printing this as a 5 x 7 photo and purchasing your own envelopes. Then ignore the backside layer - you can delete it or just hide it, then begin working on your invitation.

If you have any problems email me at lovinglifedesigns at gmail dot com.

Enjoy!  *If you use it, send us a line with a picture of the final product. It would be great to see our work in use.

Reader Request
Home Sweet Home Dominican Republic Edition

A few days after I was asked to make a Texas Home Sweet Home poster, I was asked by another reader to make a Dominican Republic poster. Just like the Texas poster, I used the countries flag as a color scheme (funny how both posters used red, white and blue.) Since I couldn't be sneaky enough to find the readers home town, since they now reside in Canada, I put a red star at the Countries Capital City, Santo Domingo.

If you want your state created, email us at lovinglifedesigns at gmail.com or leave a comment. Make sure you let us know what state you would like created and your home town, the color scheme would be nice too. Please be patient it takes me a little while to get these done.

I created two files to download, a PDF and a JPG. Download both and see what works best for your printer.

Reader Request
Home Sweet Home Texas Edition

A few weeks ago I was requested, by one of Loving Life Design's readers, to design a Home Sweet Home poster in the shape of Texas. I am always happy to oblige, even though it took some time.

Because I wasn't sure what color scheme she wanted, I decided to do the Lone Star States State flag color scheme, blue, white and red. (say that three times fast!) What do you think? I think it's fun and bright. Being the sneaky person that I am, I found out she lives near the Fort Worth/ Dallas area. In the spirit of home I put a little star on the map for her. Did I get the location right?

If you want your state created, email us at lovinglifedesigns at gmail.com or leave a comment. Make sure you let us know what state you would like created and your home town, the color scheme would be nice too. Please be patient it takes me a little while to get these done.

I created two files to download. A PDF and a JPG download both and see what works best for your printer.

Disney Pixar Brave Valentine Cards - {Free Printable}

My daughter is obsessed with Merida. Disney Pixar's new princess. She wanted to be her for halloween. Her 6th birthday party was themed around brave. I even designed a brave invitation for her party - which I am totally proud of. I'll show it off later.

Naturally she wants brave valentine cards. So this year I decided to make and print them for her. They're not fancy or flashy.  Just simple and to the point. After all they'll be going in the trash a few hours later.

I've put all 4 on one page for you to download and print. I've left a little white space so you can trim the card with or without a white border.

I have a PDF or a JPG version. I'll be sending mine to kinkos and I need it to be a PDF not a JPG for that. (you would think that I had a working color printer in the house - ha ha, nope!)

Valentines Day Poster - {Free Printable}

I meant to post this yesterday but illness has kept me in bed and since I am still in bed this is going to be real short.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone I hope it's a good one.

I made this 8 x 10 poster a about a week ago for Valentines Day. It's from 1 Corinthians chapter 13. I was inspired by, you would not believe, How I Met Your Mother. I've been re-watching the seasons and Marshal quoted this verse during one of the episodes centered around Lily and Marshals wedding.

This version of 1 Corinthians chapter 13 is from the King James Bible.

I also made 4 x 5.25 cards. I've left a little white space around the blue to made a nice border. Just print and cut.

Let me know if you need a different size. I'll be happy to make it.

Enjoy.

I'm a Mormon - Ann M. Dibb {Free Printable}

During the saturday morning session of  general conference Ann M. Dibbs gave a talk titled "I'm a Mormon." It was a beautiful talk aimed a the young women of the church.
Sister Ann M. Dibb, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency, recalled meeting a teenage member of the Church a few years ago. She immediately knew this sister was not from Utah because of the words on her T-shirt which read, “I'm a Mormon. Are you?” Sister Dibb was impressed by this young woman's bold declaration and pondered what her own T-shirt would figuratively say. She concluded it would read, “I'm a Mormon. I know it. I live it. I love it.”
She said it is important to be confident in Church membership, just like the apostle Paul who said, “...I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. . . .”
“Such conversion and confidence is the result of diligent and deliberate effort. It is individual. It is the process of a lifetime,” Sister Dibb said.
Read more about the talk here.

It was a wonderful talk and I was inspired to create a poster from her magnificent message.

I've created 3 files for you to download. Choose your size, print and put it in your favorite frame or gift to that young woman in your life.

How to Download and Install Fonts from the Internet

Michelle and I were talking about this the other day and realized that we ask people to download fonts a lot. I mean a TON! It just comes with the gig of Do It Yourself (diy) invitations and announcements, blame Microsoft and Apple for not having amazing fonts to choose from.

Then we realized that it might be a frustrating experience to download the fonts, that we use, if you have never done it before.

With that in mind, I present to you a tutorial on How to Download and Install Fonts from the Internet.

I've created instructions for both Apple and Microsoft users.

Take Note: With all of our font downloads we will make it easy for you to find the font. Normally we'll just link to the intended fonts download page, like in our last post - striped baby boy photo birth announcement. This post I posted a picture of the font and then the picture links to the download page.

These following steps are for both Apple and Microsoft users.

The first thing you're going to do is click on the link we have provided for you - in this case the example image of Halo Handletter.

Note: if you are having trouble seeing what I have written on the screen capture, click on the picture to make it fullscreen and then press esc to go back to the post.

The link will then direct you to the download page.

Click on the word download to start the process.

Dafont.com has it on the far right (pictured above), Font Squirrel has it on the right (pictured below) and Fonts for Peas has a picture on the bottom of the page (also pictured below).

*For Microsoft (PC) users follow these steps on how to install fonts from the internet.

A dialog box will appear asking if you want to open the file or save the file.

SAVE THE FILE! DON'T OPEN IT!

This next bit will be a little tricky. You need to find where your computer saved the file.

Firefox will open a second dialog box which will show you the progress of the download and once complete you can right click the download and tell the computer to open the containing folder. Firefox will have saved it to a downloads folder.

Internet Explorer will download the file and then ask you where you would like the file to be saved. Best place for a quick install is to save it on your desktop.

Next you will have to open the downloaded ZIP and extract the files. When extracting files from a zip Windows/Microsoft will ask you where you would like the extracted files saved. I save them in the same place I saved the download (in my downloads folder or my desktop).

The newly extracted folder will then appear.

Double click on the truetype font file.

Yet again, another window will appear showing all the characters of the font and then an example of what the font will look like at different font points.

Finally click install.

Viola you are done!

If you don't want to keep the ZIP file or the extracted file you are more than welcome to delete the two files, because the computer will save the font into the fonts folder. No need to think about installing that font again.

*For Apple users follow these steps on how to install fonts from the internet.

When you click on the download button, on the fonts download page, Safari will place the downloaded file into a downloads folder on the mac.

The easiest way to find the new download is to click on the small download icon on the top right of the browser window (pictured below).

Double Click on the new download and a window will appear asking about the newly downloaded application.

Click open.

A font dialog box will appear.

Click on Install Font.

Once installed the Font Book folder will appear showing that the font was installed and placed in the folder.

Viola you are done!

Now you can now delete the download file, if you so choose, because the computer has saved the file to the Font Book.

I hope that helps and clarifies the font install process.
