Coffee Société @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Coffee Société  shall be a venue that 's familiar to most coffee lovers or those who used to hangout with friends at Publika. New coffee cafes are mushrooming in the town and I am hardly able to experience one by one although I am a coffee lover.

We had given a choice of Coffee Stain by Joseph and Coffee Société, and we had chosen to have our gathering at the latter venue. The ambiance was pretty nice and comfortable for two girls and a guy's gathering :) As usual, the vicinity of Coffee Société was glanced through to see what foods that had been ordered. Coffee Société was featured as the Top 3 Best Places for Coffee by TimeOut KL 2012 and it had been ranked as Best Place for Coffee in year 2013. It was convenient to select the choice of coffee by glancing the big blackboard which was like a menu which had hot coffee, iced coffee, chocolate and English tea.

The wood theme interior design with lighting created a cozy atmosphere. The cabinets were filled with bottles of S.Pellegrino branded water. I had a fallacy to think those bottles are wines or coffee liquors.

We were seated near to the entrance and I spotted many nice vintage-looked, old furniture (antiques). The lamp was very nice, yet it was only for decoration but not for sales.

The diaries of coffee indulgence started with:

 1. Hot cappuccino with a very nice coffee art and strawberry cheese cake are ordered by HH.

2. Mochatella which was priced at RM14.90 had been ordered and it worth a try. Each table had at least one ordered a glass of mochatella. Basically, Mochatella comes with Nutella chocolate, coffee cubes and milk. I had read few blog posts saying that the milk was served hot to dilute the coffee cubes and Nutella chocolate, inducing a glass of coffee-chocolate mixture. The glass of milk provided was rather warm and I had a hard time to wait for my glass of coffee cubes melted completely.

The resulting effect was a less diluted, creamy coffee drink with chocolate sweetness.
I would prefer stronger taste of coffee.

3. Yan2 had ordered iced latte. It would be a great choice for those who don't really like to sip in coffee.

Today, let us indulge in coffee and chats :)

It seemed to be a year that I hadn't been chatted much with the old buddies and of course each has a great life nowadays. I am looking forward for the next meet up with Wai Min and the rest of the gang.

A great night with coffee indulgence and  meet up with old buddies!
♥ ❤May August be great to all of us♥ ❤

High Tea @ Just Want Coffee ;Taman Sutera

The convocation was approaching and we were heading to South for getting our convocation robes. It was a great afternoon accompanied with high-tea and gatherings with buddies that have not been met for months. The last visit to Just Want Coffee; The Garden was a pleasant experience, hence we chose to have high-tea session at Just Want Coffee, Taman Sutera.

The nice designed menu.
Cold cappuccino
Rose Latte
Caramel Machiato which tasted good
Matcha Latte
Hot Cappuccino
Chocolate waffles with ice-cream

The signature tiramisu.

As mentioned in previous post, I prefer the one I had at Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant.

JUST WANT COFFEE @ The Garden

Million thanks to the Johor local friends otherwise I wouldn't have the chance to visit this nice cafe. This cafe could be one of the good choices to have high-tea at.

Just Want Coffee; The Garden was previously a show house but has been renovated into a cafe by the boss at JP Perdana, Johor Bahru. From the news obtained from my friend, the concept was aimed at attracting visitors regardless weekdays or weekends. Unexpectedly, we got there just few minutes later than the cafe opened on the day, yet we had to queue outside to be served.

While waiting to be seated, my dear buddy and I had gone for some photo-shooting session. Well, why not to capture some string of memories?! :)

Back to the main points of the blog post, let's continue with the review of the foods. We had ordered blueberry cheese cake as I opined that it will not turn out to be a bad decision for ordering this flavour of cheese cake as the first trial in any cafe. The waitresses kept recommending tofu cheese cake, perhaps I shall try it next time.

Ice cappuccino

hot cappucino
Latte
The tiramisu has a layer of ice cream instead of the normal mascarpone cheese layer. The tiramisu seems like have put some red wine as it contains some aroma of red wine. I would prefer it to be in larger size as the price of this tiramisu is quite expensive.Notably to mention that the best Tiramisu I had eaten before is at Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant (p/s: the Tiramisu is in larger size and delicious; costs only RM8.90).

Overall the exterior of the cafe is very big yet the interior is considered packed and less spacious. It could be providing a feel of ' congestion' when the cafe is crowded.  Compared to KL cafe, I would say the price of the food here is considered as reasonable. The coffee (specialty coffee) tastes not bad and tiramisu which is recommended by my friend does not fail my expectation. A suggestion: Have more pastry please.

JUST WANT COFFEE vs CHEELICIOUS @ JB
I would opt for the second one, as the cheese cakes there had lingered in my mind most of the time :)

Italian foods @ Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant; Kepong

Bel Pasto, Kepong branch is opened for quite some time already, however, I had rarely paid a visit due to parents who do not fancy of Italian foods. It is rare to have authentic Italian delicacies in Kepong area, moreover this shop is owned by Italian chefs.

The Italian set meal lunch set which costs RM9.90++ is inclusive of the choices of soup, main course, drinks, and dessert. The set meal lunch set is only available from 12pm till 3pm; and they only resume operation around 5pm till late night.

This blog post included meals that I had eaten at two different times in a year. I could only recall the 2nd time dining over here which was on 14th July 2013.A simple, quiet yet cozy dining restaurant that serves good Italian foods. You might be shocked when you stepped into Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant as waitress would be greeting you aloud.

The roof with hanging with grapes and leaves made me thought of picking grapes hanging over my head. Haha...

The chefs and the staffs
I ordered espresso as I need some doze of caffeine to keep me awake.
Wild mushroom soup with generous portions of mushrooms!
Chicken Cream Soup (RM4.90+ A La Carte) with milky creamy taste which I found the taste was less flavorsome.
Chicken Lasagna which is cheesy and tasty!
Hawaiian Chicken Pizza which is the typical choice that most would make when thought of pizzas.
So, we had ordered one as well.
The sliced ham matched with tomato sauce and cheese become good combination.
Perhaps the chef shall add more slices of pineapples.
The thin crust of the pizza which made it much different compared to those we ate in Pizza Hut.

Spaghetti bolognese

I couldn't remember the name of this spaghetti.
Briefly description: Seafood pasta which is covered with fresh clams and sliced olives.
The sauce is unique as sour and spicy; adding ravenousness.
The long-awaited tiramisu which costs only RM8.90.

Tiramisu is Italian dessert consisting of layers of sponge cake soaked in coffee and brandy or liqueur with powdered chocolate and mascarpone cheese. The top layer dusted with cocoa powder. Ever wondered of the meaning of ' Tiramisu' ? It means  "pick me up" or "lift me up"). This exquisite dessert leaves a lifelong imprint on my taste buds! You would fall in love with this Tiramisu at the first bite of it.

me
the one with his favorite tiramisu

If I had any more room in my stomach, we might have ordered the garlic breads to match with the wild mushroom soup.I could conclude that Bel Pasto Italian Restaurant offers appetizing Italian cuisines which has good quality. If you are craving for Tiramisu, do not hesitate to try Bel Pasto's signature Tiramisu which has perfect amount of sweetness and thick!

Kluang's Delicious Savoury Discovery (Part 2)

Warm slices of toasts would be simple yet tasty breakfast for each of us to kick-start the day. We had made our journey to one of Malaysia's institutional kopitiam to savour its famous charcoal toasted buns. Kluang Rail Coffee is located at the local railway station since year 1938. It was a pit stop for travelers arriving in Kluang and the railway canteen is one of the town's famous landmark. You would find different races having their breakfast here- truly 1 Malaysia style.

My loved ones.
Pretty Chia Pei and I
The subtle sweet iced-coffee and wholemeal roti bun
You could see how delicious the roti bun from my friend's facial expression.
The crispy crusts with a thick slab of butter sandwiched between the toast (bun) and kaya filling satisfied our stomachs.

The cost of roti bun at (RM 1.10) each is definitely worth the pennies. The charcoal-grilled bun was layered with thick homemade kaya and thick slabs of butter. As simple as it may be, yet it was one of the tastiest traditional bun which I had eaten while another one was at Parit Raja.

The Kluang delicacies trail was continued with Botak Curry Noodles. Gerai Makan Botak was highly recommended by my course mate; Eng Ting who is a local here. We had been encouraged to visit the shop before 1pm as the curry noodles are sold faster than expected most of the time.

If you type " botak curry noodles" at Google search, you could find several results of foods reviews from other bloggers. The shop itself was full of decorations of old antiques, many liquor bottles, old teapots and etcetera.
The shop's decorative antiques, liquor bottles

The tasty and mildly spicy curry noodles which is rich of cockles, bean sprouts, roast pork (char siew) , tofu and light coconut milk.
You can opt for having pork skins as well.
If you couldn't taste spicy foods, you may choose to have dry egg noodles which tastes nice as well.
Me with my curry noodles.

Short review: The less spicy yet flavorful gravy makes the botak curry noodles unrivaled in Kluang town. It's hard to be compared to the curry noodles I had in Penang Island, but I could say that Kluang Botak Curry noodles is the best laksa I have had in Johor District.

The Kluang's delicacies discovery was paused for shopping session at Kluang Mall. As usual, we shopped till the shopping mall almost closed. By the means of "shopping", we could be left with empty handed yet the shopping mall must be discovered or explored before we left :)

The supper that we had at 居鑾加冕河邊. It's like a row of mamak stalls and we just followed the crowds to order foods. Piang Kee was surprisingly having long queue of customers hence we decided to try the foods.

It's similar like the famous Ayer Hitam's Yong Tau Foo.
Various selection of fish balls, bean curd, eggplant, bitter gourd, bean curd sheets with handmade fish paste as the fillings.

Hmm, I would comment that the foods are just nice (not really "WOW").

Piang Kee sells 八宝冰 shaved ice too.

Rice flour rollchines 豬腸粉
Big tang yuan topped with peanuts
Not forget to mention the souvenir given from Wenny Lai as we met her at Kluang's Parade earlier.
Revisited Kedai Makan Mee Goreng for the 炒虾面。

Here's the fried shrimp noodles 炒虾面 tinged with a smoky, charred flavor called wok hei .
The hot fried noodles was coated with salty and sweet soy sauce cooked with bean sprouts and eggs.
Simple yet delicious!

Kluang's Savory Discovery has come to the end.
It's definitely an outing that worth to be remembered.
It's not only about the local delicacies, but the people that you had be with during the savory discovery.
