First entry...
Gosh the last time I kept a blog was when I first entered employment (officially) in the UK back in 1998... back then, such blog services do no exist yet and one had to publish their entries via HTML (that's nerd talk for web programming). It went on for a full two years after which I decided that living alone in the rural areas of Cheshunt would drive one crazy whilest one was going through an emotional episode... but let us save that for another entry shall we?
Work stress (amongst other things) had led me to walk down to the small (but extremely busy) town of Enfield, where my office is based. Much to my own surprise, I walked into the local Ottakar's (a bookstore chain like Waterstones, WH Smiths, etc.). You see, I don't like reading. Don't know why, I do recall reading the likes of Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Tom Clancy, Ian M Banks, etc. when I was... *cough* younger. Even younger still, I remember reading the likes of Ghostrider, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Submariner, Dr. Strange, Punisher, etc. So what happened? Change of lifestyle perhaps.. financially inept.. or maybe simply lost interest? To be honest, I can't remember nor could I even be bothered... but I bought myself four, yes count 'em FOUR books!!!
Book 1: Tony Hawks: Round Ireland with a Fridge
Bought this as a very close friend bought it beforehand, and somehow, it looked very tempting at the time.
Book 2: Daisy Goodwin: 101 Poems to get you through the day (and night) - a survival kit for modern life
I enjoy poems, even if I do write badly ones myself (to NKA who has read plenty of my poems, I'm glad you never commented on any of them). This book seems to express daily modern stress into carefully chosen beautiful words, turning hot lava and noisy streets into cool clouds and calm lakes... you know what I mean. ;)
Book 3: H Jackson Brown JR: Life's Little Instruction Book
A book which I came across by chance. A collection of observations and words by a father as a gift to his son who is about to go to college.
Book 4: Peter Cohen's Habit-Busting: Boost Your Self-Esteem
The back of the book says that it can help you get that raise you deserve! Well... might as well give it a go shall we? Nothing to lose right? (well except for the £3.99 that I paid for it)
Oh dear, my first entry seems to have made me lost track of time! I'll tell you how I get on with these books.. but for now.. must get some shut eye for sahur in the morning. Toodle-oo!
