Battlegroup Kursk - Middle of the Action Report

Here we are midway through a 500 (ish) point game between Lordybloke's Soviets, veterans of over a dozen battles and Ellioto's Panzergrenadiers in there second only battle.
Bottom left sees the Soviet entry onto the battlefield, the Soviet commander skulking in his Gaz Jeep hoping that the artillery will leave him be.  A diminished soviet tank rider squad is pinned by their objective.  The German Panzer Ace 'Double Top' in the Stug III arrives in the corner top right and blasts away with no effect.

15mm Stug III

For the second Battlegroup Kursk campaign game I needed 6 Stugs.  I have finally finished them, they were primed and had the base colour on them for months but somehow I couldn't get to them.

Christmas finally gave me the extra time that I needed.  I went for a single colour for a change to the usual two tone camo I have for the other armour I am using.

Happy enough

More for the table.........

Well here I am again with an update on the scenery that the club has recently purchased for DMH and 15mm WWII games (FoW & BG).
In the previous post you saw the start of my manic building as soon as I opened the box which contained the 4Ground DMH buildings, the next evening continued at the same sort of pace.....

First up the Sheriff's office inc the jail which has break out bits......

Next was the big Undertakers, this is a fantastic model with plastic windows and paper cut outs for the banners.

These two take the building count to 6 for DMH which is great for the size of table needed.....must admit if 4Ground do a bank, hotel & railway station I'll be badgering the rest of the club to get those too......

As you can see the table looks good but with a few more feature buildings it would look great..

Finally the WIP 15mm stuff...

This stuff is from Commission Figurines, although there are only a few pieces to put together I found that these were a little more time consuming due to the need for a dry run first as some of the pegs that hold the buildings together needed to be trimmed a little, also the fact that they now need to be painted is a little annoying for me. 4Ground is ready to go once stuck. Still very good models and the detail is great just needs a little more on the inside, slightly better cut and a paint job. 9 of them built over two evenings.

Anyway that's it for laser cut buildings for the foreseeable future, it's back to the foam card Mordhiem buildings for me.......they should be done ready for the New Year.

Battlegroup Kursk - Panzers for Campaign Game

Firstly we have been rubbish at keep the blog up to date there is no excuse really we have just been busy or lazy or some of us don't remember that we have blog...

Anyway we have all been active within our chosen projects and I have finished the required tanks for the first campaign mission in the BGK book.  Lordybloke and I are still aiming to start the first game in the coming weeks.

So here is the picture of my efforts. A mixture of Battlefront and Plastic Soldier Company Tigers and PSC Panzer IV's both G & H variants.  More soon.  Hopefully

Games Night Report 8th May 2013

A low turn out this week, as Binx and Klepto-Elliot headed off to Bath to watch The Hardcore Legend Mick Foley turn his hand to stand up.

This left Zed and Lordybloke to show Cortez the ins and outs of Battle Group Kirsk...So over to Zed for the report...

Photos supplied by Lordybloke, who's only just got a smart phone and is still working out how to do things other than take calls from the wife on it...

We set up the table as per the Hold Carentan mission but played the standard attacker defender from the main (mini) rulebook.  There were three objectives.  Two were on the centre line of the table (diagonal deployment) the other was in a deployment corner which the British chose when they won the setup. There were roads connecting all four edges with trees and lots of hedgerows.  The opposing sniper teams set up close to the centre of the table.  The Germans won the first turn and the German sniper moved into the house, seizing the objective and gaining a superb view down the main road out of the British deployment area. There was a sniper duel without any effect.  In fact neither sniper did anything of consequence for the entire battle.  Back to sniper school the pair of you!!!
The Brit observer drops off the 6pdr. He later wishes he wasn't so close to enemy fire....

Kursk-es!!

I present my progress on bringing together a Battlegroup for Kursk.

This lot has all been painted since the release of and specifically for Battle group Kursk.
Currently consists of a complete rifle platoon, a rifle squad, smg squad, KV1, BA 10 armoured car, truck, sniper, anti tank rifle, stretcher bearer team and a NKVD officer in his jeep.

Hopefully Zed and I will get another game in soon. We'll probably get more of the rules right too!

Still plenty more to paint.....

Laager

I have not mistyped, this is not a fizzy alcoholic drink.  If you want to know a Laager is a defensive encampment encircled by armored vehicles or wagons.

I have struggled to get any good images of anything I have being doing or completed of late.  Not that I have completed much in truth but I thought I would just take a snap of my paint station.  I am about half way with my Battle Group Kursk force.  I discounted starting 20mm because "I don't want to start from scratch, I'll just use my Flames of War stuff and tweak it a bit"  I honestly believed it at the time.  Anyway the PSC tanks are joy to put together, the Zvezda armoured cars not so much.
