Day 1 & 2 Japan Trip
Day1
We met up at changi airport and I was getting a very bad case of the butterflies cause I was afraid I would forget something important. (But I did not :D) So after checking-in the luggage-14kg, I was super relaxed.

It was night by the time we reached Narita International airport. KONICHIWA JAPAN :D

The toilets damn cool! The seats had a music button that made flushing sounds, butt-washing(with adjustable pressure) and heated seats.

We took a train from the airport to aikihabara and changed trains there. The train from Aikihabara was so packed that you did'nt need to hold the handrails.

Tokyo Khaosan Ninja
The wooden capsule beds are surprisingly comfortable! But I was woken up by noisy people.><
Day2

A yamapi mineral jelly advert on the train :)

Bought my transparent umbrella! :D

Tsukiji fish market

The squids were bubbling!

The front of my right shoe look like it had been dipped in black paint, thanks to the combination of rain and market.

A very farmiliar store!

Kaminarimon Gate
We finally found it!! After walking right pass it because we were trying to block the rain and wind coming from that direction with our combined umbrellas. Seriously, we're either sway or dumb.

Asakusa is basically like the older part of tokyo. We saw loads of students, probably on a school field trip cause they were buying souveniers too.

Checked out and trained to Yoyogi Youth hostel. OMG the stairs at the train stations were killer.. Cause we kept getting lost IN the station. And well-meaning people near the hostel place kept giving us the wrong directions/ leading us to the wrong place- since the place was pretty big and had a couple of blocks for accomodation. PLUS we had to balance umbrellas cause it was raining. And it was freezing!! I tell you my arms seriously ached the next morning.--"
We finally found the place but the check-in time was in an hour so we went for dinner nearby.

When I was closing my umbrella and removing my shoes, dear ms JL followed the restaurant lady into the back of the kitchen! The lady got a shock when she turned around. AHAHA Damn funny :D No there was no secret backroom.

KAT-TUN poster for their upcoming concert at the tokyo dome. I realised from the photo it says "Meet me, kat-tun" if you look at the poster beside. :D

Pachinko place- these are seriously everywhere! Super duper noisy when you walk pass. all you can hear are coins dropping.

We were blown away by the high prices (eg $40 for a t-shirt at SALE) and so went to eat instead. (though not hungry)

Dessert! First time trying this- VERY SWEET. JL's omelete thing was very salty, though tasty.

The famous shibuya crossing :) It was seriously messy when everyone crossed in various directions, and we randomly walked because we did'nt know where we were heading anyway.

We saw a kamenashi look-alike giving out tissue paper on the streets! HAHA Same hairstyle and dress-sense :D Tried damn hard but was unable to get a shot of his face..
Getting back to yoyogi hostel, we bathed in a public bath (within hostel) for the first time! Surprisingly, we felt zero embarrassment. Cause all the japanese students and aunties there don't give a damn, and they walk around in the nude and chattered while they change. :D We had to shower outside the common pool first- sit on a stool facing the mirror. The big bath was super hot! But very relaxing after a cold and rainy day. We went out when we started to feel dizzy. Ah I miss the super hot baths..

Korea Trip
Day1
I packed in record time before having dinner. Dad drove mum and me to the airport first, then went back and took a cab cause our luggage would'nt fit into the cab. The fellow from the tour agency gave us our tickets and we checked in our baggage.
My mum ever the kanchiong spider rushed us to the borading gate, and we waited outside since it was'nt open yet.

Saw the Korea Air crew people also waiting to get in.
I totally could'nt sleep on the flight cause I can't sleep upright- my headkeeps rolling to the side. Watched bedtime stories(movie) with dad instead. I fell asleep for like 15minutes before the started serving breakfast- eggs and sausages. My parents did'nt like korean-type coffee, too dilute or something.

Day2
Arrival at Seoul Incheon Airport! And I saw a samsung advert with KimHyunJoong, Kim Bum and Kim Joong too :D Something about touchscreen onefinger touch.
Had sometime before the bus arrive so we went for our second breakfast. The counter girl thought dad was korean HAHA In what way does he look korean??
Apple pie and hot chocolate/coffee(dad still had'nt given up on the coffee). Coffee was still bad.
Self-cam using airport bench :D
It was seriously cold outside the airport- 4 degrees! At first when I walked out of the airport doors, I thought there was a group of smokers standing in a circle. BUT then i saw my breath turn to smoke! I keptblowing air after that. HAHA

We then made our way furthur up north.
And for the first time we saw SNOW! Turns out, they had wierd weather and it snowed 2 weeks earlier(super late) The slopes were covered in snow and it was so pretty!
Odaesun national park- it had a really beautiful stream under this bridge, pictures furthur down.

There were whole bunches of schoolkids, cause they were having their promotion/graduation holiday.
Woljeong-sa temple within the park.

Great view of the hills from here :D Korea is really mountaineous, everywhere we drove we could see high and low lanscapes.
Piles of snow!

The snow at this side sorta melted cause it was under direct sunlight so the ground was squishy.
Carved wooden elephants
What's this hole? Well, I saw a monk walking about at the bottom, so I guess it's where they stay.
Morning bell? HAHA No I actually did'nt ring it.
The water in the stream was moving fast cause the snow was melting.

Gorgeous view from the bridge! OH, and I overheard some of the korean school girls singing mirotic "Yeah~ neoreul gajyeosseo You know you got it! YEAH~" I find them much louder than Singaporean gals.
Selling groceries outside.

Dad was hoping the coffee here was better. But it still tasted the same so it was a let down.
Lunch at a family restaurant.
In korea, Ginseng= wealth.

Gangwondo speciality- chicken and potato stew
Found some pine fruit on the grounds outside.

We then went for ATV rides! Funstuff man! The person in charge has damn cool- he could ride on 2 wheels and was standing on only one side of the ATV.

We followes the guide through the trail where it was a bit more challenging. I got stuck at one of the rocks and rammed my accelerator over it HAHA

Next was target shooting using pellet guns over quite a fair distance.

Dad stepping up to the plate- he manage to bullseye after getting used to it. My gun had no power and I was shooting in arches, making it difficult to aim.
This whole place was covered in snow!

Drove to Gangneung which had 3km of cherryblossom trees. Cause of the unusually cold weather, it had'nt fully bloomed.
Saw a clown on stilts!
We roomed at the Seorak Hanwha resort on Mt Seorak. We got a double bed and twin beds so it was pretty spacious.

The resort was actually next to waterpia theme park which had both SPA area and park area. Mum did'nt what to go for the SPA cause everyone had to be naked so we went to the park where we could where swimsuits. And it was shiok!
The water was all heated and it was so relaxing after all the cold weather. They had so many different types of jets to massage you- feet, entire leg, back, back and leg etc. I went to try out this super long winding slide ride- a bit wierd while I was in the queue cause all the people in line were guys. Dad wanted to ride but was deemed too old (over 50).
We then proceeded to the outdoor area, which had rock pools of different temperatures along the slope. The 45 degree one was burning, so we went to the sauna. Afterwhich we found a 40 degree pool which was just right (still too hot for mum though),so me and dad warmed in the pool. The view of the mountain from there was great!
Last picture of locker I took, could'nt bring around a camera with people walking around naked.
Ice-cream! ChocolateFudge(Me), CofeeChoc(Mum) and CookiesNCream(Dad). This is half-eaten.
Dinner at a restaurant nearby- BBQ pork.
Was watching TV and saw Superjior's Kangin and a few other farmiliar comedians. They were supposed to flip a swith with their feet to see who could get the best heights.
Day3
View from the balcony in the morning
Breakfast was at the hotel- they even had seaweed and kimchi!
We went to Yeoju factory outlet which had loads of designer labels with discounted last season goods. Some of the labels like Gucci/ Prada/names-we-never-heard-before were still way too expensive after discount. Eg, S$1300 for a top. Bought cool shoes from puma and adidas LE vest, while mum bought a shirt.

Adidas 2 level store
Lunch- Tofu and chicken stew

Bused to the Korean folk Museum- recreation of traditional Korean village of the past. They were selling various herbs at the stalls.

Women spinning silk from real silkworm cacoons. The bugs can actually be eaten too BLEAH D:
You tie your wishes here after you've written it down. :)
This is what they used to grind grain in the past. It's really heavy and abit wobbly.
Imperial guard of the past! HAHA The helmet was too big for me head.
Scary weapons
Torture of wrongdoers/ opposers of the king
Courthouse i think

Stoves in the past
Cute performers- some of them were swinging some ribbon from their hat too.
Next we were off to Everland! Something like a korean disneyland.
They were having a flower parade.

My first time riding on a cable lift down to a different part of the park- quite relaxing actually. Me and the folks were super pumped up, "It's here, it's here! Get ready ah! 1, 2, 3!"

This is the highest
wooden rollercoaster in the world, largest rollercoaster in Korea. 77 degree drops!

I may be smiling here but I was so frozen by this time my body was shaking. All I had on was a miserable tank top and jean under that thin trenchcoat! (Not enough warm clothes brought) The wait was a LONG 1.5 hours. We kept thinking the sign outside was lying since we could see the lie ahead, and kept thinking we were gonna reach soon. Important lesson:0-12 degrees is very cold.

The ride was damn fun! I've never been on rolercosters other than the one in escape theme park so it was a super jump in thrill level. When I raised my hands while joing down those two 77 degree drops I felt like I was going to fly off the freaking carriage. FUN :D

Picture! WAHAHA My hair was flying so high i look bald.
I wanted to get a panda coat but they were sold out --" Damn cute, with panda faced hood and joined paw gloves!

Dinner- This sort of BBQ pork was damn good! :D Once it was cooked you wrap a piece in lettuce, add some kimchi, chilli, and garlic and popped it into your mouth. SHIOK

Roomed at Yangi Pine Resort after a long day

Tatami room- Me and mum set up the futons. Kept shifting them around cause my dad needed to be near the power point, and my mum did'nt want to be near the open window but i wanted to be. I must say, the "pillows" are as hard. Would'nt want to get into a pillow fight with these!

Day4
Breakfast at the hotel

The hotel decorations were damn cute!

Seeing these remind me, I saw loads and load of birds nest cause many of the trees were bare from winter.

Lee minho advert :D

Kimchi making

There are over twenty different spices added and they always remove the seeds from the chilli as it's supposed to be bad for the gut. The kimchi we tasted from the various restaurants we had been to all tasted different cause each one uses their own recipe.

Tried on the traditional hanbok :D Tour guide seemed to like the way dad looked- prosperous belly. HAHA

View from the highway

Saw cherryblossom trees! But they were'nt fully bloomed due to the cold weather. Still was pretty though.

Bought a bottle of warm soy milk cause it was cold. Dad's warm canned coffee was not bad. Finally.

Super huge charismatic church. See that huge cross? There's a huge nest right in the centre.

For lunch, we had ginseng chicken :D Rice and a piece of ginseng was stuffed into the chicken. The soup was really tasty.

Ginseng wine- it was good against the cold.

Humongous crab display

Insangdong antique street
I saw a shop selling 2010 dbsk calendars! But mum would'nt let me buy :( Lots of stores selling scarves- chose a few for grandma. Mum bought a bag and I was searching for my boots, but did'nt find them.

We went to a rice-cake museum, where they displayed all the different types of rice-cakes and how they were made.
Then we had some honey and ginseng tea, and tried some of the rice-cakes. Not my favourite since i generally dislike kuey.

Dongdaemun markets and shopping malls- it would probably take you 3 days to see all the shops here. The number of stores seriously made my head spin. Bought various clothes and was still searching for boots! They had tons of boots but were all super high cut. The low ones did have the fold and were wrong material/non-pointy heel. Maybe I was being too specific HAHA
Ginseng showroom- we bought lots.

Amethyst gem factory
If you water these rocks once a week they would grow crystals! They come out white at first.

Pork and squid in the pan, and korean mixed rice for lunch. You actually pour chilli sauce and stired it in with the different type of veg. The food was good as usual.

Cheong wa dae - residence of the president
