One of my favorite food is chicken rice. A good plate of chicken rice is enough to warm the stomach.
Finding a chicken rice stall in KL is as easy as throwing a stone to see which one it hits. It can be found at every corner where there is food. And we all know that Singapore is famous for it's Hainanese chicken rice and has been labeled as their 'national dish' even before our Tourism Minister decided to have a 'food fight' with the neighboring country to get the rights of which dish is origins from Malaysia.
I've been visiting Singapore lately and tried Boon Tong Kee's Hainanese chicken rice.
The appetizer.
The pyramid shaped rice which is fluffy and fragrant. I can eat this alone without the chicken!
The chicken meat is smooth and tender.
There are other dishes to try like their famous tofu which is coated with a thin layered of crispy batter (forgot to snap a shot) and variety type of vegetables to balance the meal.
Boon Tong Kee is located at Bukit Timah along Cheong Chin Nam Road. Have a meal there if you are heading for Singapore next time. I'll be back for a second visit :)

A Taste of Taiwan
Once a while, I'll post up something on food. I seldom do it because I'm not a pro ... unlike her who can really cook up a delicious feast or him who can really write a masterpiece just by chewing a piece of chicken! Darn! They are good ^_^
Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant. I heard so much about the food here, so I invited a friend to accompany me. The place was packed! Recession? What's that? A new dish name?
It has a variety of set meals and ala carte order.
Every chinese family will tell you this ... soup is important. All the 'goodness' can be found in a bowl of good soup. The carrot soup they serve is very clear (almost tasteless) but still I finished till the last drop.
All set meals come with side dishes as this, peanut with anchovies coated with sugar, fried prawn ball and long beans.
No chinese meal is complete without the rice. And if you dine in Fong Lye, it even has minced meat on top. It's good just to eat the minced meat rice alone. Sometimes a simple meal can warm the stomach.
3 cup chicken (三杯鸡), very flavourable with a taste of sweetness. Portion is huge for 1 person to consume so it's always wise to share :)
Slices of beef stir-fry in ginger and onion leaves. The beef was tender but the taste is norm.
Overall, the food is good and I'll not hesitate to go back again to taste another round of taiwanese cuisine or maybe I should drop by Taiwan for the real deal :D

Pepper Lunch
Pepper Lunch(ペッパーランチ Peppaa-ranchi) is a popular japanese "fast-steak" restaurant franchised in Tokyo. There are over 200 restaurants in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, USA, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
It has finally arrived at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently.
Beef from Australia and New Zealand, Norwegian Salmon, Japanese Curry are all seasoned with freshly ground black pepper and served on a metal hot plates, heated to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 Celsius). The meat can be eaten rare or well done, depending on the your preference.
Don't touch the plate! No kidding!
3 easy steps to cook it, you don't need a chef to do it
Combo Salmon & Chicken
The salmon is good but the chicken lack some chicken taste.
Combo Cut Steak & Hamburger
The hamburger is excellent but I think I've overdone on the steak.
Total bill for 2 person including soft drinks. Not exactly cheap for lunch but we had this for dinner ;P
For more info on their menu selection, visit Pepper Lunch Singapore English website as the original website is in Japanese.

A Hearty Meal
Friday afternoon. As I've few days left to chill out before the start of my new job, a friend decided to invite me for lunch and we went to Pick N' Brew at 1 Utama. I've never been to this place although have heard it from her and it runs by him.
Irish cream Frappélicious - smooth and not too sweet to my liking
Oven baked potato skin with beef bacon - a yummy appetizer
Pesto and sun dried tomato with (optional) added grilled seafood with a choice of your pasta - I picked fettucini but i feel that the taste is quite bland (err I'm a salty person). If you don't add anything, the pasta only comes with ... well, pasta. A bit pricey for just plain pasta, I think.
My friend had beef cheeseburger and Green Tea Frappélicious. After the meal, we went to have some singing and swaying exercise at the nearest karaoke before I left for my farewell dinner :)
My friends (now ex-colleagues) organized a farewell dinner for me at the Lala Chong Seafood Restaurant, opposite Terminal 3 of the old airport. The menu was decided by this babe who frequent the place recently ;P
clockwise from top: lala in superior stock, fried baby squids, stir-fry fern with tuna and tofu
clockwise from top: 3cup chicken, veg, prawn and yam basket
The food was delicious but what matters the most is I enjoyed the evening of get-together, jokes and chill out with friends.
Thanks guys for everything ^^

Feast @ King Crab Restaurant
My cousin sister generously treated me, my sister and 2 other cousins for a feast @ the King Crab Restaurant to discuss about last minute arrangements for the upcoming wedding of my cousin. Coincidentally Precious Pea and her buddies are also having dinner in the VIP room feasting on the Tai Jap Hai (hairy crabs).
Clams in superior stock (too much wine, thus the soup is quite bitter but the clams are fresh)
The waitress was promoting the Shanghai hairy crabs but we decline as we are not so much into roes, so we opt for the meaty crab cooked with chili (yummy yummy)
Soft bun goes well with the crab sauce
Salt & pepper mantis prawn (delicious, thanks Precious Pea for the recommendation)
Squid coated with egg yolk (the taste blended so well and my all time favorite dish ... err anyone know how to cook this?)
Initially we wanted to try the stir-fried lotus roots but they don't have it (hmm I wonder why ... out of lotus perhaps) anyway we go for the kai lan cooked in 2-style (not a very healthy veg dish but still nice)
The waitress recommended the soya juice in white fungus (the soya juice has a funny taste)
We had a good time enjoying the food and looking @ the wedding photos of Mr Spider man and Mary-Jane (the groom is a huge fan of the superhero)! A bunch of wicked ideas has been developed to be played on the groom and his buddies on the wedding day (with the full permission from MJ)!
A big Thank You to my cousin, Ms Pugsie (nickname) for this treat. She commented that she will end up looking like these if we asked for more treats!

A Taste of Thailand
Generally the portion of Thai food is small compared to Malaysian food and the price is cheap too, especially hawker food.
From a restaurant called I-taste cafe
My sister's Thai colleague bought us to this cafe near Standard Chartered Bank. I can't remember which street but it's where all the local people frequently visits. We also found out that after being served, most of the pretty 'waitresses' in the restaurant are actually 'waiters' when they said "Sawatdeekaa".
Prices are reasonable. For 3 of us, the total bill came to 600 baht on these foods ...
Tom yam kung (nice)
Green curry chicken (heavy on coconut flavor but lack spiciness)
Fried calamari (dip with their special chili sauce ... yummy)
Pineapple fried rice (delicious with chunks of pineapple pieces, shrimp, cashew nuts, egg and ham)
Stir-fried veg with pork salad (this is good stuff)
Thai tea (too sweet for me)
From MBK Food Court
Daily coupon system. If you are having dinner there, make sure you get your refund before 9.00 pm as the counters will be closed after the specific time and you can't get your money back the next day. We nearly miss the timing by 5 mins!
Pad Thai with shrimp (can't eat much because of the sweetness in the noodle ... my cousin sister had Pad Thai for 2 days in a row and end up having the "Pad Thai feeling" stuck in her throat!)
Pork noodle (not sure what they use for the soup but it's so good)
From Chatuchak Weekend Market
There are a lot of flies in the food court area because of the presence of fish sauce on every table (very irritating). We had to use the batteries-operated fan to chase them away! Most of the food vendors can't speak English, so we communicated using international sign language!
Beef noodle - 20 baht
Mini pancakes - 20 baht for 1 box
From Damnoen Saduak floating market
You can buy the food from the boat or dine on specific areas on the platform.
Pork noodle - 20 baht (so so only ... the soup tasted like plain water but luckily also because then we will know that they didn't use the water from the Chao Phraya river as main ingredient)
Grilled chicken wing - 10 baht each (absolutely delicious)
Spring rolls - 20 baht (surprisingly good)
Mango with sticky rice top with coconut milk - 30 baht (the mango is so delicious and sweet)
Coconut with cream pancake - 20 baht for 4 pc
Fresh coconut - 10 baht each
We didn't have 5 meals in a day as we are more keen on shopping.
This is my last entry on the Bangkok trip. Overall we had a fantastic time and highly recommend Bangkok as an economic and fun holiday destination.
