Make

Make your own brown sugar?

Make your own laundry detergent (for about 2 cents a load)?

Make your own yogurt?

Make your own English muffins?

I did not know, but I don't think that I want to. Especially the yogurt.

You have to trust me on the yogurt! It's as good as anything you'd buy in the store. The consistency is like Greek-style yogurt. It's "plain" and you just add your own fruit. Try it!

Here's how to do it: 1/2 gallon of milk (any kind). Put it in a big pot and heat it up to almost boiling, then let it cool to room temperature. Stir in 4 tablespoons of storebought yogurt. Let it sit someplace warm (like the empty oven) overnight. The next day, put cheesecloth OR a clean dishtowel OR a clean pillowcase into a sieve and prop it over a big bowl. Dump out the yogurt into the sieve. Let it sit for a couple of hours to strain out the extra whey. That's it. Magic yogurt! Your girls will think you are so cool!
