Today's subject is... me

Back in January, I had the awesome opportunity to be in front of the camera for a change during a session with my good friend Shallyse of Shadeleaf Studios. Hopefully she'll have that up on her blog soon, but here is a sneak peek.

Shallyse is incredibly talented... I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful these images make me feel. She has a way of capturing your soul. Be sure to check out her website at www.shadeleafstudios.com and/or "like" her on Facebook.

Wedding in Wilmington

Back in May, I went to a wedding in Wilmington (NC) with my friend Shallyse of Shadeleaf Studios. She is a professional photographer and her assistant bailed on her at the last minute, so she asked me to come along and help her. This was my first paid photography gig, but I would have been happy to do it even if she hadn't paid me. Not that I'm thinking about going pro or anything at the moment, but it's always good to practice and watch how a professional does things.

The wedding was at a place called Live Oaks, located near the Masonboro Sound in Wilmington. Not quite a beach wedding, but still beautiful! Really my only complaint with the location was the bugs.

The groom (center) with his groomsmen and future father-in-law (second from the right). The little nephew on the left was the ring bearer and the nephew on the right was an usher.

The bride got a little emotional after she made it down the aisle.

Kiss the bride! I love her veil in this one.

The sun and the bugs and all the running around made for a long and tiring afternoon/evening. But I enjoy weddings, so it was a lot of fun. It was also good to get to know Shallyse better. I'm happy that she got to do this wedding, and hope it will open the door for more weddings as she tries to expand her business.
