Boo-Halloween Mini

First of all thanks so much to Linda for giving me the opportunity to be on her team! I love all things inky & playing with canvas is the perfect setting to create some awesome fun. Linnie Blooms carries all kinds of great products just waiting for some color! For my first post and with the spooky holiday just around the corner I made a cute Halloween Mini.
I started with one mini file folder and the very cute owl. Using flexible modeling paste and stencils to create background texture set the theme. Glimmer Mist loves canvas. When the paste was dry I covered my crackley moon using a cut out & spritzed on a few different purples to color the background. Once that was dry, it was easy to add orange sprays to the moon area. Keeping the colors separate helps prevent that muddy look.
Inside my book, after my spray was dry, I decoupaged an owl cut out from a paper napkin. Adding some stamping using archival ink gave the pages a little flair.

The inside of the book is simply cutting 4 or 5 pieces of Halloween paper, placing them inside each other to make a booklet. Mark 1" from edge in the center at the top & bottom, punch a small hole in the paper and the file folder. With a piece of hemp, ribbon or waxed linen, thread from the inside of the book to the outside bringing the pieces together.
Tie a knot at the top of the book leaving enough thread to add charms and beads. The cute owl is colored with glimmer mist and once dry, simple features are drawn in using signo gel pens. Coloring the bricks and moon with glimmer glam adds a shimmery shine and helps the bricks pop. Finally adding a cute ribbon through a cut in the file tab, creates an easy closure.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial- see you next month!!! Happy creating. Karen

A woman of few words

Hi Kim from A Paper Addict here. Today I am not a woman of many words. I feel as if I am unable to articulate the sayings of my soul verbally. I know that our theme is "Outdoors" in June.

I find the silence deafening in my mind. I know that late in the evening in the outside silence I will often hear the hoot if an owl.

Wise beyond our understanding. Eyes so beautiful, soulful.

So my first post this month is just that. The wise owl mostly silence in the night with the moon beams shining brightly.

Here is where it starts.

I love my water color crayons especially on canvas.

This is the owl. As I see him in the trees. Silent in the moonbeams.

He is and owl cut shape on the canvas ATC cards. I used matte meduim to make him stiff and attached to my card.

What's in the Tea Leaves?

Well....as much as I enjoy my cup of coffee in the morning...I do so also enjoy my YOGI tea...
and so attached to each  tea bag is a tag with positive sayings/quotes/wordage.
Not to let ANYTHING go to waste ...I have been collecting these little pieces...for my art:

Soooooooooooo...I made a tag...with the tea tag "leaves"...and a Linnie Blooms butterfly, turned into a sweet yellow buttercup for spring!....a little piece of art!
Now, I am on a roll....I have had some mini frames( 4"x5") in my stash for MANY years..that I took and shabbed up, and with an ATC size piece of chipboard, I painted, layered & collaged up 2 more TEA ARTs!
*****I adhered these to the topside of the frame for a different look*****
I used the Linnie Blooms house and the owl ...super cute product!!

a sweet canvas for the home - using linnie blooms canvas shapes...with leeann pearce

Hello Linnie Blooms fans, I hope you are all well and have been creating up a storm with Linnie Blooms canvas products!

So today I am sharing a sweet canvas I made for the home.
Lets check it out!

When I am creating  I don't feel that I have to paint it and ink it every time. Sometimes it looks perfect in it natural state. It already has shape and texture. It might just need a touch of detail. And that's how I have used the canvas shapes today! I simply glued the canvas shapes into a window and added some hand stitching detail. I also layer and hand stitched a  small canvas heart onto the bird for it's wing. I added some flair to the larger heart and buttons to the owl shape.

So there you have it... I hoped you enjoyed my simply but sweet canvas.

Thanks

LOVE is in the Air.....

.....My first blog post as a Design Team member for Linnie Blooms!!
soooooooooooooo...over-the-top excited!!

I just do not know where to start!...OK...let me JUMP in!!....This started out with a plain old metal candle  tray that was rescued from the Goodwill {hunting } bag....
...to which I added some PP from my huge stash...yes...I am a hoarder...but, that is for another posting!
I started with a Linnie Blooms long canvas blank
..and started adding some paints from my (hoarding) stash..
yes....yes....as you can see...I have some OLDOLDOLD MM scrapbook paints I cannot throw away...along with an OOPS paint from Lowes(my "day" job)....Look closely at the paper pad ledger...it will "morph" into a background on another project...
******

I took the Linnie Blooms canvas tree and, being inspired by another DT member , Candy Spiegel
and her idea of using an embossing folder..I slightly dampened the tree shape and ran it thru my Cuttlebug w/embossing folder....WOWeeeeeeeeeeeeee...just a slightly raised image...but, once I put the color on....OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

So, adding bits 'n bobs from my stash(yes...THAT one!)....along with the Linnie Blooms flags...uber cute...I took my  alpha stamps and with Stazon ink stamped the letters and wordage....Glued everything down with MOD PODGE matte.....OH the TEXTURE....oh the colors!!
The entire canvas collage was attached to the tray for a OOAK piece of art !

BTW...I am totally IN LOVEEEEEEEEEEE with the Faber-Castell Gellatos & Pitt pens!!
These are my new...FAVE...go to coloring go-to's!
The Gellatos are just absolutely YUMMY!!...and vibrant...and creamy....any EASY to use!

*************
And..................because I cannot throw anything away...(craft hoarder)...I used the ledger paper and cut into a tag as  a background for the SUPERDUPER sweet as can be Linnie Blooms canvas owl.

...and yet ANOTHER tag...with a LB canvas heart..background made from the babywipe I cleaned up paint & sprays with...

Sooooooooooooooooo...there you have it!....I hope my posty inspired you to get your crafty on with your Linnie Blooms!
I will have a give-a-way  for this sweetheart tag on my blog SUNDAY, January 19th at
Beeeeeeeeeeeeee sure to stop on by!

I {heart} Linnie Blooms

Hello,  Donna K here with a very photo filled post.
This is my first post for Linnie Blooms…yay me!
I was so excited with all of my Linnie Blooms treasures when they arrived I went a little canvas crazy!
I started out with the 9" X 11" canvas blank and an idea for a Love theme wall hanging.
I used spray color shine paint in peach, acrylics in greens, browns and white along with lots of metal embellishments and ribbons to create this keepsake.
I painted and/or stamped on each Canvas Heart piece.
9x11 Canvas Blank

At the top of this piece I used metal eyelets to create  a sturdy place to thread the ribbons for attaching a dowel and chain so that this piece can hang nicely for wall display.
On to project number two…
another Canvas Heart project.
I created this Valentine and used Gelatos for my first time to shade the canvas piece.
How FUN they were.  I simply sectioned the piece, shaded it and added stickles for some shimmer in the center.  I also used 3D adhesive to pop up the heart so it has plenty of dimension.

Canvas Hearts

These Gelato kits  make it so easy to shade and combine your colors.
Red Gelatos Set
Lastly…I just wanted to make oooonnnneeee more project.
I wanted to use an owl, but somehow that owl …. with some orange acrylic paint turned onto her side and became a FISH.
A feathery gold fish with shimmery gills and a pearly eye!
Canvas Owl
I'm pretty tickled with how this sweet little CAS card turned out.
She will make a great valentine for someone special this year.
Thank you for letting me go a little photo crazy in this post and for the opportunity to share my fun, canvas filled projects with you today.

We'd love to have you join us for our January Sketch Challenge here at Linnie Blooms.

See you next time!

Fall Framed Home Decor

Hi there!  Laura here today, and just a little sad, as today is my
last guest post for Linnie Blooms....so I did want to take just a
second and say a huge THANK YOU, to owner Linda and DT
coordinator Kimberly, for the opportunity to create with these
awesome shapes!  I have had a blast!

And without further ado, here is my home decor project:

I used the Canvas Full Tree Shape and Distress Paint in Peeled
Paint and Walnut Stain to color the tree.  To get the leafy look...
I used the dauber to pounce on the color.  The Canvas Owl shape
was brushed with Distress Stain, and then I went around the edges
with Espresso paint dauber.  His eyes are two black buttons with
Jellie Dot gems for centers.

The Fall Leaf Shapes were colored with orange and red gelatos,
directly onto the canvas shapes, and then blended with water,
because I wanted a deep fall color.  I frayed the edges just a bit,
and then brushed them with the Espresso paint.

The fall banner is the Canvas Pennant pieces, and I left the tip
uncolored, then added a streak of orange and a streak of
yellow, and blended carefully to get the look of candy corn.
I brushed these with the paint as well, and then adhered the
letters, and used foam tape to adhere the banner to the frame,
and added twine bows.

I used stickers and paper from Reminisce, and buttons with
Trendy Twine Orange Licorice to finish it all off.

Thanks for stopping by today, and make sure to check out
all the fun shapes from Linnie Blooms....so many to choose from!

Halloween Shadow Box

Happy Thursday everyone!!! I', here today to share my first ever Halloween project to share with you all.  *Totally excited* I must say this was fun and funny to create, as I almost had no creative direction. Often I think that's the best way to create...just do it.

For this project I used Linnie Blooms canvas owl and circle shapes (as you can see behind the frame).  I also used the mini canvas squares to create a layered banner, and mixed textures of glitter, glass bead gel and stickles.

Below you can take a peek at my video:

I sure hope you enjoyed this little fun project and were inspired to create your own crafty Halloween display.  Have a BOOtiful rest of your week;-)
