Clean & Simple Cards Using Magicals & Versamark

Hi - just dropping by to share 3 super clean and simple cards, all based on the one layout and all using the same products - though in different colours and with slightly different techniques.  Now I'm warning you all these are way more simple than my usual stuff and once you get started making these it's difficult to stop since they are so much darn fun!  All 3 cards use Versamark Watermark ink and Lindy's Stamp Gang products - Magicals and Starbursts to be exact.  I'm starting with the easiest of the 3 cards....

Card 1 - Blue Flower

Lindy's Stamp Gang Products
 Other Products:
  • Prima Flower:  Regency - White II
  • White Velvet Ribbon
  • Heidi Grace Epoxy Words: So Sweet
  • Spellbinders Corner Die: Fantastic Flourish Two
  • Kraft card stock
  • Black Eclipse 100 Cardstock
  • Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad

This cards' background was created by inking a text stamp with the Versamark ink and stamping directly onto 1/2 the background.  I sprayed the flower with 2 colours of Starburst Spray and left it to dry overnight and I used the same colours of spray to colour the velvet ribbon - though a little trick, if you want to add the colour but no sparkle, flip the ribbon over and spray the back.  This works particularly well with thicker ribbon like velvet, then when dry flip it back over and you have colour but no shimmer.

The colours on the flower seem to glow!

I think the black really makes the colours pop.

Card 2 - Purple Flower

Lindy's Stamp Gang Products
Other Products:
  • Prima Flowers - Recency White I and Candy Gems (Melon)
  • Stamp: Hero Arts - Antique Background
  • Distress Stickles - Crushed Olive
  • Kraft card stock
  • Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad
039 a wm

This cards' background was created by inking a background stamp with the Versamark ink and stamping directly onto 1/2 the background, then while ink is still damp brush Magicals powder over the top, gently tap off any excess powder.  Spray flower with multiple colours of Starburst Spray and leave to dry. Ribbon then coloured with Magicals and Magicals added to flower in certain sections, in differing strengths to create multi-tonal effect.

Adding Magicals to the flower really made it special.

The Magicals are so crisp over the Versamark.

Card 3 - Red flower

Lindy's Stamp Gang Products
Other Products:
  • Prima Flower:  Regency - White II
  • Stamp: Hero Arts - Classic Fabric Design
  • White Ribbon
  • White Lace
  • Gala Glitz: Gold
  • Kraft card stock
  • Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad
024 awm

This cards' background was created by inking a background stamp with the Versamark ink and stamping directly onto 1/2 the background.  Then while ink is still damp brush Magicals powder over the top, gently tap off any excess powder and spritz lightly with water to create a slightly shabby aged appearance.  You will notice that the water activates the dye in the Magicals and this then bleeds onto the surrounding card - a little water = a little colour bleeding, a lot of water = a lot of colour bleeding.  Spray flower with multiple colours of Starburst Spray and leave to dry. Ribbon and lace coloured with same Starburst Sprays as flower, but due to the higher polyester content in the ribbon and lace, the colours are much more muted.

027 awm
Didn't these 2 colours go well together!
027 awm
You can see the soft edges on the spritzed Magical pattern.

Basically the formula is as follows:
  1. Stamp with Versamark = subtle
  2. The next step-up is to brush over Magicals = bling
  3. Then the next step-up is to spritz with water = shabby or vintage
So simple - but with just these small changes you will be able to get 3 very different effects.  I hope that you may have learned a new technique here today and don't forget you can use this idea for cards, pages or layouts - the only limit is your imagination!  And don't forget to check out the LSG YouTube channel tomorrow as I'll be posting a video clip showing you how I made these backgrounds.

May your day sparkle,
Kate

Mixed Media Doll Tag with Bona

Hi Everyone! Summer is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I just love all the bright colors and I wanted to share with you a large mixed media doll tag I created with the new Prima Doll Stamp. Riley is so adorable and I just love her pair of wings. I first adhered design paper from the Prima Ledger pad onto a 6" x 10" piece of light weight chipboard. I tore small pieces from one 6x6 deign paper from the Prima Sunny Days paper pad and place it onto the ledger sheet to create a collage background. I removed the caps from the Flat Fabio Spray Mango Mania, Summer Lovin' Sun, and Aloha Avocado to create a splatter effect throughout the tag. Then, I sprayed the Flat Fabio Caribbean Blue on the center of the tag. I cut two strips of Drywall Joint tape to give some texture to my tag. Its ones of my favorites to add when creating mixed media projects. Of course I had to add my number favorite which is Modeling Paste using the Prima Sunrise Sunset Stencil #960162 from the Finnabair collection. After creating my background, I added the Prima Doll Riley on the center as my main focal point. I paper pieced her outfit with some white lace and added a pair of wings which I added Frosted Lace Stickles for some texture. To finish off the tag, I placed some beautiful Prima flowers and wooden leaf venners that I sprayed with the Flat Fabio Aloha Avocado. IT so fun creating mixed media projects and I just love how all the Lindy's sprays coordinate so well with all my favorite paper collections.
Here's a list of the fun Flat Fabio Sprays I used on my tag. Aloha Avocado Caribbean Blue Mango Mania Summer Lovin' Sun

Shimmer Tile Card with Sharon

Hello everyone. It's Sharon over here.
Happy Monday! I hope you are all doing well. I have been really sick for like a week now, and I'm still not 100%, but I wanted to share with you this card I made using scraps of white paper, and my Lindy's Stamp Gang Products.
I don't know about you, but I keep scraps of everything, thinking I'll use them for something later....what ends up happening is my pile of scraps keeps growing, and I rarely end up using it all. Well, I wanted to get rid of a few scraps I had laying around here, and came up with this.

For this card I used a few different Starburst Sprays (Bayou Boogie GoldGreen with Envy GreenMidnight Rendezvous RavenA Bit O' Bubbly), as well as an embossing powder (King Midas Gold). I embossed both birds on the card as well as some of the round tiles on the bottom of the card. I have a step by step tutorial on how I did this on video, and you can check it out by clicking HERE.
I hope you enjoyed this card and were inspired. Have a great week!

Multi-colored Flower

Happy Sunday! This is Jo and I'm going to show you step by step how to create this multi-colored flower. The photo above was taken in natural light and the shimmer just pops.

The three colors that I used are:

Starburst - Fuzzy Navel Peach
Flat Fabio - Plumeria Pink
Starburst - Ramblin' Rose Pink

I start off with this white paper flower and had separated the leaves that came with it.

I took my first color, Ramblin' Rose Pink, and sprayed it in the center of the flower. It's okay if it gets on other parts of the petals.

My second color is the Fuzzy Navel Peach. This was sprayed around the center, trying to avoid the first color sprayed.

The last color, Plumeria Pink, I sprayed on the outer edges of the flower. This particular spray is a Flat Fabio, which contains no shimmer. The previous sprays are Starbursts and they are full of shimmer and I didn't want to add too much. GASP!! Did I just say that? LOL

I just repeated all three colors again to saturate the flower. I love how these sprays blend so well together when they overlap each other. You can see that the shimmer from the Starburst sprays settled in the grooves on the petals.

I took my heat gun and dried the flower. I also wanted to spray the leaves that I initially separated from the flower. They were already a green color but I wanted the color to be intense and have shimmer. The color I used was Starburst - Ponderosa Pines Olive.

I glued the leaves back underneath the flower and I'm done. I just love how each color adds dimension to the flower. I hope you liked my little tutorial for you guys.

Thanks for stopping by and if you haven't tried this yet, you should. The color combos are endless. It was really fun and the flower came out beautiful. All Lindy's Stamp Gang products/links are listed below. Have a great day!

~Jo

Make your own washi tape with Jessica Griffin

I'm so excited to share some washi tape I've made using my Lindy's Stamp Gang products!

Here's what you'll need...

Scotch Masking Tape, Gesso and a paintbrush
Stencils (I've used The Crafter's Workshop)
heat gun, stamps

After working with the tape so much, it lost it's stick, so I used a Glue Dots Dispenser to adhere the tape to the paper and it worked great! Once the tape was down, I die cut the front of the card, using a star die. Then, using Staz-On, I stamped a star onto a clear piece of plastic. I adhered that to the inside of the card using my Glue Dots Dispenser, stamped a sentiment inside and it's done!

Fantastic Designer Friday with Jo

Happy Friday! Welcome to Fantastic Designer Friday, it's me Jo. It's been a while but I wanted to share this card that I made using these Lindy's Stamp Gang products. (All the links will be listed below)

Here is the card that I created. I just love the all white background. I layered some embossed vellum paper over the card base and went to town with the mini pearls.

The base of the frame is sprayed with Flat Fabio Red Ruby Slippers so that the raw chipboard does not show. The two-toned embossing powders give such an amazing effect. I used the Poinsettia Red Green embossing powder. It has a red undertone and there is a green mica incorporated into the mix and when you tilt your project at a certain angle the green just pops.

In between the frame and cameo is a rosette made from dictionary paper. That is sprayed with Golden Sleigh Bells, a very vintage gold color. The flowers are from I Am Roses. The cameo is sprayed with Flat Fabio Greased Lightnin' Green and then embossed with Orbit Olive Gold embossing powder.

So there is my card for you. I hope you like it and try those embossing powders. 'Til next time!
Have a great weekend!

~Jo

Fantastic Designer Friday with Jessica Griffin

Hello! I first discovered Lindy's Stamp Gang about two years ago, when I was looking for Mica Powders. I love color and variety of Mica Powders available through LSG.

This technique isn't new, but, it is new to me. When I discover something new, I tend to go a little overboard! Making clay pendants is so easy, so fun, and requires very little work or effort to create something beautiful! So here are four that I've made thus far...

Here's a video tutorial to help you create your own, totally awesome pendants!

When I have some time to sit down and work on these a little more, I want to get some DMC floss and make a necklace! (You know, like the friendship bracelets we all use to make.) My girls would love it. Don't forget to create your hole before baking the clay. You can also add a pendant bail, and cook it right into the clay.

I hope you've enjoyed my post today! I'd love to see any pendants you've made, or anything else you do with Mica Powders. Please feel free to share them in the comments, and don't forget to add a link to your blog!

Fantastic Designer Friday with Arlene!

Hey there LSG fans and welcome to another Fantastic Designer Friday! I'm honored to be your host for today and super excited to share my latest scrapbook page with you. This one's a little "off the page" so grab your coffee (I have a video for ya!), sit back and enjoy!

I mounted this scrapbook page on heavy acrylic. I had this picture of my 3 boys taken at Santa Cruz beach a few weeks ago and I thought Graphic 45's Tropical Travelogue papers AND Lindy's Stamp Gang's Caribbean Cruise and Hawaiian Island Flat Fabio sets would be the perfect combination of color!

Here are some photos:

Here's a video tutorial to share how this page came together. Enjoy!

Have a happy, crafty weekend!

Fantastic Designer Friday with Jo Thompson

Hi everyone Jo here. I hope that you all are having a fabulous Friday. I wanted to share with you my project. Last FDF Yvonne showed you the Nantucket Pearl Sprays. This week I'm using the same colors but instead of the sprays I used the Nantucket Pearl Magicals.

Here is my card. It measures 5" x 5". The base is white cardstock and I layered kraft cardstock and corrugated cardboard. These colors are perfect for a beach theme, they are very soft and the pearl shimmer is subtle but effective. I used my Copic markers for the skin only. The rest of the mermaid image is colored with the Magicals (Clam Bake Biege, Sea Grass Green, Whale Watch Blue). So even if you don't have all the colors in your markers the Magicals make an amazing substitute for coloring images.

I had taken white seam binding and sprayed it with the Sea Grass Green Spray to mimic seaweed. The starfish brass charm was perfect for the under the sea theme I was going for. I also added a seahorse charm at the corner. The doily behind the stamped image was sprayed with Whale Watch Blue, Clam Bake Biege and Sea Grass Green.

The sentiment that I stamped was "You Inspire Me" from Hero Arts and I used white embossing powder on vellum paper. To finish the card I added some Flat back pearls at the top.

So there is my project share for you guys today. Thank you for stopping by. Don't forget to visit the Lindy's Stamp Gang shop. Fantastic Designer Friday with Yvonne Melendez

Hello to all of our Blog Buddies!
This is Yvonne (aka ScrapBliss) and I have a little project
I want to share with you today.

Here is my card... the first is with indoor lighting and the second is outdoor:

For this project I used my Magnolia mermaid stamp,
Watercolor paper, paintbrushes,
and Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst in Nantucket Pearls.

All of the Nantucket Pearls have a soft, barely-there pearlized shimmer.
The collection is comprised of 5 colors:
Whale Watch Blue
Cape Cod Coral
Clam Bake Biege
Sea Grass Green
Salt Water Taffy

For this project I used all but the Salt Water Taffy.
Cape Cod Coral for her hair & blush.
Clam Bake Biege for her *skin.
Whale Watch Blue for the scales.
Sea Grass Green for the sea.

* I wanted less pearlizing on her skin, so I didn't shake the bottle before using.  I let the
pearl powder sit at the bottom and just used it for color.

On a recent trip to Virginia Beach I purchased a starfish and thought it would give this
card the perfect finishing touch.  But it looked a bit dull...

...and definitely need a little extra magic...

Lindy's Magic Moon Pearls was just what it needed!

Wow! Much better, don't you think? LOL!

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you'll be back soon!
Big Shimmery Hugs & Sparkly Kisses,

Yvonne
