Milani: Illuminating Face Powder Or: Embossed Pressed Powder Porn

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 5/25/2012 09:05:00 PM 1 comments
What if one of my favorite cosmetic lines made a pressed powder with embossed roses on it? Well, I'd swoon. Then I'd fawn. Then I'd take a billion photos of it to save for my own makeup porn collection...

Milani doesn't just make awesome makeup, I'm calling these art!
From the top: Hermosa Rose; Beauty's Touch; Amber Nectar. All Illuminating Face Powder.

These compacts are a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter, all in one. It can give you a hint of color or, built it up slowly.

Now, I'll just leave you to be with awesomeness...

I couldn't use these until I photo'd them. That's quite obsessive but it makes me happy. These are sheer enough for me to use all three ways too. Here are some swatches...

Very subtle. Very lovely. Milani wins my heart again with a beautiful product that delivers as promised.

Have you tried these out?

Milani: Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow Pencils

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 5/20/2012 08:00:00 PM 0 comments
As far as eyeshadows go, I'm very partial to powders. So, when it comes to a creme or a pencil shadow, I'm really fussy. Now I'm getting a chance to try out Milani's Shadow Eyez.

I have six, highly-pigmented, shades to try out...

Left to Right: Winter White; Champagne Toast; Brown Deluxe; Royal Purple; Aquatic Style; Green Safari.

These pencils are touted to be:
  • Water-resistant
  • Crease-proof
  • Long-lasting
  • 12-hour wear
OK. Yea, I like those attributes!
So far, I have sampled these on the back of my hand. They applied super creamy. In fact, they glided on. I wasn't even surprised when the shades were incredibly vibrate, that's how Milani rolls...

Once I applied them, I waited about 10 minutes before I checked on them. Wow, these are super-saturated. However, I gave them all a couple of rubs and they didn't budge. The top photo is right after I applied it. The bottom photo shows how they looked after I rubbed up and down, firmly. I even had to check my finger to see if anything came off and there was only the faintest of Aquatic Style that transferred.

Tomorrow, I'm going to give one or two of these a go. It's going to be hot here in Orlando so, that's going to give it a serious test for staying put. I'm so hopeful. And, I'll report back how it works for me.

If you have tried these, yourself, how did it work for you?

Thank you, Milani, for helping to sponsor Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida. These products were provided to me for my review and honest opinion.

Milani's Spring Collection: Hot Pink Frenzy High Speed Fast Dry

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/30/2012 08:14:00 PM 0 comments
Milani got in the brightest shades this Spring. Someone said 'make 'em bright this year.' And, so they did...

Milani's High Speed Fast Dry comes in 'Hot Pink Frenzy'. I would have called it 'Bright Idea'.

This is the prettiest shimmer pink I own...
I have on three coats and have Sally Hansen's Teflon Tuff as a top coat. I love the way Milani's 'Hot Pink Frenzy' wore so well. The edges didn't chip during the two days I wore this shade.

'Hot Pink Frenzy' has such a color impact; I couldn't stop looking at this hottie...

This polish does a bit of a twist on a bright pink; there's a touch of coral to it and a bright, true pink as the shimmer. No streaks at all. And it applied smashingly. If you are into nail art, I think you would love this polish, as well.

Whoever came up with the shades for Milani's Spring collection had a Bright Idea!

It's bright, no? Which shades did you get of Milani's Spring collection?

This product was given to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Milani's Yellow Whiz Fast Dry Polish

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/12/2012 08:43:00 PM 0 comments
A swatch I did this past weekend...

Milani cracks me up with this name: 'Yellow Whiz.' I don't think I have a brighter yellow polish than this...
I used 3 coats but 2 would have been OK had I applied it a little bit thicker. Being a creme, I wanted to keep the streaks at bay.

And what a fashion statement yellow is; B.R.I.G.H.T...
OK, I cheated with an over-exposed photo but it did look like that bright in the direct sun. 'Yellow Whiz' did dry fast too. There wasn't any streaking problems either. The nick in my thumbnail was my nail getting ready to chip; not the polish.

During the work day, I had two people comment on the bold yellow. Heck, I couldn't disagree!

Have you tried Milani's 'Yellow Whiz'? What do you think about wearing yellow polish?

Milani's Twinkle: Jammin' Good Blue & Purple Glitter

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/10/2012 07:52:00 PM 1 comments
A new polish added to my collection is this super-duper glitter...

Milani continues to make glitter that is spell-bounding, pigmented and just plain fun! This is 'Twinkle.' You can't get much bluer in color than this.
I have on just 2 coats of 'Twinkle.' I didn't get complete opaqueness but from a normal distance, it was not that obvious. A third coat for me would have gotten rid of the see-through.
'Twinkle' is made up of brilliant blue and violet glitter. It is jammin' in that polish, I tell ya!

The last photo is in the shade. It washes out in color, but I like the look of it. It shows the real brilliance of the polish.

As with almost all glitter polishes, this one wasn't easy to remove. However, it did apply well and wasn't super gritty. Oh, and this manicure was over 2 days old. There's barely any tip wear.

Is 'Twinkle' a glitter polish you can jam on?

Milani's Spring Collection: Orchidia and Lavender Fizz

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 4/04/2012 08:11:00 PM 0 comments
Milani Cosmetics was a big sponsor for the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers last month. We got the opportunity to preview a lot of their spring collection. And the nail polishes were PRIME!

Here is the first shade I chose to try out...

This is 'Orchidia'. Make sure you look closely because 'Orchidia' is NOT a creme. There is a shimmer in this that is as dainty as gossamer fairy wings. This shade is so nice that even my camera played nice with it. This is a very good reproduction of the color.
But there was another polish in there that made a spectacular match. The glitter polish is 'Lavender Fizz.' And it is a darling glitter bomb...
It's filled up with purple glitter. 'Lavender Fizz' is a one of Milani's One Coat Glitter polishes. So, I used a very thin coat of it over 'Orchidia'. Perfect!...
These 2 polishes are right on trend with the brighter pastels of spring. Milani polishes, as well as their other makeup products, are known for being highly pigmented. Both 'Orchidia' and 'Lavender Fizz' live up to both the color trend and coverage.

I used 2 coats of 'Orchidia' and one thin coat of 'Lavender Fizz'. I didn't need a top coat because 'Lavender Fizz' is not only sparkly but it's shiny too. And these polishes wore without a chip or wear for 2 days.

Can you see the mileage one could get from just these two Milani polishes?

Milani Cosmetics: Runway Lashes

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 3/16/2012 09:01:00 PM 0 comments
Many thanks to Milani Cosmetics for sponsoring the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers meeting that we had on March 10 at Cafe Tu Tu Tango in Orlando, FL.

I couldn't wait to dig into the goodies that Milani shared with us. I was uber UBER happy to try out some new mascara. This one has my vote. Let me tell you why...

Milani Cosmetics gave me to try out, their new Runway Lashes mascara. The go-to reason for using this mascara is 'instant volume'. This black mascara is also smudge-proof, non-clumping and is paraben-free.
What I'm seeing is results....
I love that I have long lashes. But, without any mascara, they are not very visible. I used Runway Lashes on the left side and nothing on the right. Can you see a difference?! Yeppers!
Now with my eyes closed, you can see that I do have long lashes. However, on the left, where I used Runway Lashes, you can see that my lashes have more volume to them.
And with both eyes done, I can easily say that Runway Lashes is living up to its name. There is a lot of volume and my eyes appear much wider.

And with that, I keep my decision that if I could use just one eye product, it is mascara. And Milani Cosmetics Runway Lashes is a mascara that makes me a strong believer.

Also, it made me braver. I'm amazed that I would post photos of my bare face on the Internet. And close-up, self-portraits don't make for attractive noses. LOL. It's just that I feel very strongly about Runway Lashes. This mascara is approved by the pink vanity.

Milani's Hot Pink Manicure Fit For A 5K Race

Posted by Libby's Pink Vanity at 2/26/2012 08:45:00 PM 0 comments
Race Day! And I won! OK, I didn't win THE race but I won my own admiration. I set a new, personal best time and I completed the 5K race. Hooray! Oh, and I got a medal too!

Here I am all ready to begin. Yes, it was dark; I got up at 3:30 AM and was at DisneyWorld by 4:15. The race started promptly at 7 AM. I had to get there early because the parking lot was going to fill up fast. There were 5000 runners alone.

Check out the Epcot ball behind me...
It was windy and chilly. But that made it perfect weather for me to run. Before the race I shucked the gloves and about 1 mile into the run, I tied my jacket around me too.

If you look in the middle of this photo, you can spot me in my white visor, coming into the finish line. Yes, running!
Here are my race day nails...

Something fun, festive, princess-like and pink: Milani's 'Hot Pink'. This race is called the Princess 5K Fun Run and it was part of the entire Princess 1/2 Marathon weekend. I ran on Saturday; the 1/2 Marathon was Sunday. (Please do not ask when I will run a 1/2 Marathon; that's not going to happen. 3.1 miles is plenty.)

As jam-packed as this large glitter is, I thought I'd get a heavy coverage. But it turned out like this...

This is 3 coats. I don't have on a top coat because I wasn't going to leave it on this weekend. I knew I was going to do more swatching. However, this was a fun manicure and I got a couple of compliments on it.
There is approximately 2/3 magenta glitter to 1/3 silver. The silver helps give it a twinkle. You can imagine how cool 'Hot Pink' would be layered over a variety of base colors.

And talk about variety...
I tried to snap a photo of me running with the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. What a cute Beast at that!
I came upon a woman dressed like the Chiceta banana lady. Once I got past her, it wasn't a good idea for me to turn around and snap a photo, though.
I'm coming up to run around the ball and then into the home stretch.
A photo of the crowd of runners once I crossed the finish line.
And here I am catching my breath once I finished. I'm still breathing hard and I don't seem to be able to smile at the same time. :)

After more fretting than necessary, the run was fun and I enjoyed running around Epcot. The weather was great and I got some cool swag food after I had my offical race photo taken. I milled around a bit after that then went back into town and celebrated with a Starbucks chai tea.

What grand moment did you have this weekend? Do you find 'Hot Pink' a fun polish for the my race?
