Favorite Poem Friday (#2)

Happy Friday Swooners!
This week's favorite poem is by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I'd be surprised if you haven't seen it before but then again I know some people aren't into poetry. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43) by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Favorite Poem Friday (#1)

Morning Swooners! So i've decided to do something new and fun. I've always loved reading and writing poetry and now I want to share that love with you. So every Friday i'll have a different poem posted for you guys to read. Maybe you've seen them before and maybe you haven't but either way they are all beautiful. So here's the first of many. Hope you enjoy!

If You Forget Me by Pablo Neruda
I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine

Quotes (#29)

We made it through the week guys! I'm so excited because this is the calmest weekend i've had in a while and even though I have finals coming up in two weeks and I should be studying this week i'm going to enjoy my freedom and go hard starting Monday! You know, because I think i'll lose my mind if I don't lol So let's get some quotes started and just know that these quotes do not reflect my current mood but I just love this book so much and haven't quite moved on yet. So here we go :)

“The future was one thing that could never be broken, because it had not yet had the chance to be anything.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“You only really fall apart in front of the people you know can piece you back together.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“I’d done the right thing. I always did. It just would have been nice if someone had noticed.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“Just because a person isn't talking about something doesn't mean it's not on their mind. Often, in fact, it's why they won't speak of it.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“It was a weird kind of loneliness, feeling that some of my closest friends didn’t actually know I existed.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“That’s the thing, though. You always think you want to be noticed. Until you are.”  ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

“It didn't matter that I'd done none of those things. With shame, like horseshoes, proximity counts.” ― Sarah Dessen, Saint Anything

Happy Friday, Swooners!
