A December day in New York City

illegal photograph i took after the show was over (shhhhh!) they were doing a fund raiser for "Broadway Kids" and they were auctioning off the shirts they wore in the show. each shirt sold for $4500 each, plus they were autographed and the buyers got to go backstage, meet Jack and Daniel and have photos taken! the show was amazing and the acting superb! we were in awe at the drama that 2 actors and 2 chairs could make in 90 minutes. the show ends on Sunday.

we couldn't get a cab at the end of the day, so ended up taking a rickshaw cart from 57th to 34th! it was fun though! this was our cute driver.

Dillon, me and his friend, Alana went into NYC today to see the broadway play "Steady Rain" with Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig. it was really good. we had a great time. Dillon was quite shocked that Alana had never been to the Toys-r-us store in Times Square, so we put that on our list to do today. We also took her to Rockefeller Center to check out the tree. Since tonight was the tree lighting, we couldn't get too far into the tree area as it was all blocked off, but we could see it from where we were standing. we were there around 4pm and the ceremony wasn't until 8pm and we just didn't have it in us to stand there for 4 hours! we did some window shopping, saw some amazing window displays and beautiful NY city holiday decorations. it was a wonderful day!

Steady Rain

Dillon and i are off to New York tomorrow to see Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in Steady Rain. i don't know what the show is about (corrupt cops is what i heard) so maybe i'll just call the show "two hot guys" and leave it at that.....

New York City is where i spent my weekend

(hint, click on photo for enlarged view)
So my friend, Pam, was in town, (NY) to help her daughter, Kasey move into their new apartment. So yesterday i drove into Seacacus Junction, parked my car and took the 10 minute train ride into Penn Station. Then i hopped into a cab and took it over to Pam's place. wow, the place is stunning. After waiting for the cable/internet guy to show up, we headed out for a little shopping and lunch. it was quite rainy and really cold. i was wearing flip flops, capri's and a little sweater - so i got cold fast. quick stop at Daffy's and i emerged with a pair of polka dot rain boots and a sweet lightweight coat to keep me warm. Then we met Kasey, at Ben's, for NY's best chicken noodle soup. Yummy is all i can say! after leaving Kasey, Pam and i walk over to Metalliferous. never been? OH MY GOD! you must go; but warning, it is overwhelming, crowded, hot and the staff a bit on the snippy side. we both managed to spend way too much money there on tools, vintage findings, chain, wire and more. after that it was back to the apartment for a little rest before dinner at Rosa Mexicalli where we were meeting up Cindy Dean, who is in the process of moving from Las Vegas to New York. We had a wonderful dinner with scrumptious guacamole and pomegranate margaritas. again i'll just use the sophisticated word, YUM, to describe them. After dinner, Pam and i went to a Barnes & Nobles to see what new art books and magazines were available.
We went to bed late and got up early to hit the Garage flea market. what a wonderful time we had there. so many cool things to see and really interesting people. i made a lot of great contacts, handed out a few business cards when people saw the necklace i was wearing and then inquired about it. We had great sandwhiches at the Blue Dog Cafe before walking our way to Hell's Kitchen to check out their flea market, which turned out to be a bit of bust, but that's ok. We grabbed a cab back to the apartment, as unfortunately, it was time for me to head back to New Jersey. Thank you Pam for having me and showing me such a wonderful time. I appreciate you picking up all cab rides and giving me such a comfortable place to lay my head. Spending time with friends is always so fun.

into the city today

today i went in to NYC with Mary Ellen. We had a really nice time. the city was fairly quiet, not too hectic and traffic wasn't bad. our first stop was in Soho for lunch at a place called "Hampton Chutney Co.". they serve indian food and i ordered a wonderful wrap -ish type meal that was served on "sada". it had turkey, melted jack cheese, marinated red onion and avacado and it came with a side of DELICIOUS AND SPICEY mango chutney. when i picked up my lunch, i was in awe of how big it was! (but i still managed to eat most of it)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

next we walked a little ways until we came to Dean & Deluca. Dean & Deluca is a gourmet food marketplace with cheese, meat, fish, imported food, coffee bar, fresh flowers and produce. Oh and they had the prettiest cupcakes i've ever seen.

----------------------------------------------------

we walked a little ways further to stop by the make up store "Face". While we were waiting for it to open, i spied this little guy (name's Chili) and took a pic of myself through the store window looking in a mirror inside the store.

---------------------------------------------------
From there we made our way over to Pearl River Mart. I made a pit stop at H&M and bought a cute skirt that reminds me of something from the 50's. i love that the skirt has pockets.

-----------------------------------------------

Next stop, Pearl River Mart! wow, talk about eye candy. i didn't take any pictures inside though as i wasn't sure if they'd appreciate it and i didn't feel like asking. there was so much to see and look at that i spent most of my time doing just that! there are 3 levels and we only made it to two of them. i bought Dillon's girlfriend a bag, some Asian treats for Dillon. here's me in front of the store (and i am wearing one of my cool doll necklaces) and an awesome Bloomingdale's window displaying celebrating "cirque du soleil".

---------------------------------------------

from there we headed to midtown to hit a couple of bead stores. we stopped at M&J trimming and New York beads, which i loved.

thanks for a great day Mary Ellen!
