Last week I went by foot in Ciucas on the hike below: from Cheia through a large meadow and then up on some valley, where I have found a "pirate" marking: the white contour of a circle.
After some "hot" moments of encountering fresh bear footprints, I have arrived at a big wall closing the valley. I've found a passage on the left, then a reach a secondary ridge, impossible to follow. Luckily on the right side it was possible the descent to the next valley and then the ascent up to the main ridge and path next to Gropsoarele peak. But not before seeing another fresh bear footprints... not very funny when you hike alone in remote places. And the last meters were heroic as the snow was about 1 meter deep. As the night started to fall, (I've left Brasov after noon), I took the market path to Muntele Rosu hut (suprisingly for me there were no traces on the snow most of the descent - and we were during the scolar hollyday). At 7 o'clock I was safely back to my car, in Cheia. I was very pleased with the tour and in the same time very tired.
