Everyone likes this heart block.  It is Sunshine Quilt Guild's January BOM coordinated by Pam.  The background fabric was provided by her and makes the hearts really POP!  The membership has a choice in either pink or red fabric provided from their stash for the hearts and the center square.  There will be a very happy winner at the February meeting.

I ordered and received the 10" square Accuquilt Go template.  I also needed a couple of mats for the new template and one purchased in Arizona while I was there.  I am a dunce though, I ordered the wrong mat for the 10" square template.  The correct size has been ordered; expected next week.

I have been sewing the extra units needed to make a full size Krakow, Bonnie Hunter's Old Town Mystery.  I should be able to get this project on my design wall over the weekend.  I got a taste for what mine might look like when I visited Kerry since she is ahead of me on the full project.  Unlike me she chose to do the full project from the start.

Greyson got his quilt today and Tiffany says he loves it.  Levi's will soon be on the way.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Design Wall Monday, November 25, 2024

Nothing is on my Design Wall today, but Part 1 of Indigo Way is complete on my sewing cabinet.  I have fabrics ready to cut for Part 1 of Old Town, but this has yet to take place.  I will be making half the quantity of units for now on both projects.  I wish to keep them smaller than the size the pattern calls out.

Kristmas Kandy Kollection is all set for a few hours of stitching.  I just love the look of a stripe binding; especially when it is on the diagonal.  Don't get me wrong a stripe can also look great horizontal.  I have cut out a block of each of the two designs in this project with a gold background in hopes that Mom will get the enthusiasm to make one of these projects too.

Kendra is also ready for a few hours of binding.  This project will a be a bit more challenging to stitch at night since the binding is black with a small green clover.

This last project to share is a Sunshine project put together by Lorna.  It is hoped that it will be quilted and ready for a possible purchase at Summers Past Farms Craft Fair.

Hope your Design Wall or Sewing Cabinet has something fun in the works =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, November 24, 2024

I could start off today with my first finish of the past week, but this one certainly fits the week ahead.  Kork is a 2024 UFO that I am happy to have completed.  It took a variety of fabrics in orange and brown mostly from Squirely Girl fabric line.  (More on the pattern name and designer by the tag "Kork" below.)  Kork is a small project pieced and applique.  I put a chocolate brown on the back.

Next finish from the week past is Kolorado.  This one never got to a UFO list, but it has been around since 2016 or there abouts.  It was a "row by row" project from Ruth's Stitchery out of Colorado and a gift to me from Marti.  (more on the pattern name and designer by the tag "Kolorado".  I enjoyed the little bits of applique and one of my favorite techniques, paper piecing.  I used the red/black check as the borders to carry the theme of the tree skirt made last year.

My last finish are these ornaments for the Summers Past Farms Craft Show that Sunshine Guild will participate.  It runs December 7-8; something fun to do if you enjoy craft shows.  This pattern was in the December 2024 issue of Better Homes & Gardens American Patchwork & Quilting periodical.

As for purchases, 3.25 yards towards the Bonnie Hunter Winter Mysteries (2024 and 2025) that I am working on at the same time.  I stopped by Lowe's for paint chips on my way home from a sew in on Friday.  I was having a hard time with the aqua to turquoise fabric in the 2025 Mystery Old Town and needed a solid red for the entire yardage in the 2024 Indigo Way hence a stop for fabric too.  I am busy in to cutting and sewing on these two projects.  I am even using the Acuter on the 2024 project with the 2.5 inch die.

Fun finishes and fun starts last week and into this week.  =^.^=

Wednesday Workings, November 20, 2024

Someone was at Rosie's on Friday purchasing fabrics for Bonnie Hunter's 2025 Winter Mystery.  I am going to have to start sorting out my fabrics soon for this one called Old Town (Starowka).  I am planning on making her 2024 Winter Mystery (Indigo Way) at the same time.  Both will be using her suggested colors.  Those of you who know, Bonnie brings to us big quilts with many units will think good grief!  I will be making each of them a smaller version so I can keep up!

Kolorado is finished with the exception of the applique.  There is a snow board leaning up against the house, head lights on the truck, skis on the barn, and finally the barn quilt above the barn.  I will be working on these later tonight.  The outside boarder was chosen in part because it uses the same fabric as the tree skirt I made last year.  This will be a finish come Sunday.

These are Christmas ornaments that I will donate to the Summers Past Craft Fair that Sunshine Guild will participate in early December.  They are made to look like iced cookies with sprinkles.  I have a bit more to stitch before they finish.

Kork is ready for the final steps adding sashing and boarders.  There is an orange plaid fabric used in a few of the acorns that will also become the binding.  This will be a finish come Sunday.

To break things up a bit and because it would be nice to donate the top to the Summers Past Craft Fair event, I got this project going.  Lorna put it together with donations to Sunshine Guild.  The printed blocks in Christmas scenes are surrounded by either the green or the red and pulled together by matching four patches.  There is a beige plaid for an inner border and the plaid for the outer boarder and back.  The red comes back again as the binding.

Cross stitch project Forest Friends moves right along.  I still need to get floss 632 to finish the deer.  I suppose I could move on to the panda, but I would rather complete the deer first.  I do have other hand work to keep my hands busy!

Happy Wednesday =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 6, 2024

The Transportation cross stitch project is together.  All is set for getting it to Kerry for quilting.  I am planning a stripe for the binding and the back uses the same fabric as the sashing.  It really turned out nice and achieved the updated look I had hoped for with this vintage pattern.

This 2024 Spooky Mystery Box arrived from Fat Quarter Shop.  Some fun things were inside.  I like the quilt design and will use the rickrack someway inside the top.  Again this mystery box a finishing kit was available (yeah).  You can see it at the left.  So this is my add.

I have been working on things for Sunshine's October Monthly Meeting that is on Tuesday.  This meeting I will have available a cute cat ornament kit.  Hopefully members will take a kit and work on it during the meeting.  I am also responsible for the next BOM.  The BOM is from Sariditty (Sarah Thompson) design called Candy Stripped Holly Star.  I will be providing some fabric with each BOM kit and the member will add some of their own.

Kondensation is still up on my design wall.  Reporting Transportation and fabrics that are to be included in the BOM as used.  Hope you are having a fine day =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, August 18, 2024

Kampfire is finished and already with Kerry for quilting.  This is one of four projects that will be shipped to Maryland to trim up, machine binding and sleeve in place, hand stitch the binding and labels and be complete =^.^=.  Speaking of binding...all ready too.

I also finished a portion of the 2025-2026 Sunshine Opportunity Quilt.  I don't have a photo of the design to share.  Perhaps if Pam reads this she can attach a photo in the comments.  I wanted to get these to Pam (who is once again coordinating the effort) before my trip east which is just around the corner on the calendar.  These blocks finished at 4 1/2 inches.

I have to finishes to share.  These two are donations.  The first one is for the Cuddle Quilts that Sunshine supports.  The second one is Konfidence that heads tomorrow to an Israeli Support location not far from my home.

The final fabric needed for the Twist and Treat project that is in my list to sew arrived.  With the leftovers from Kampfire for the background I can get started with the cutting.  Anxious on this project.

Look close to see the kitties toasting.  It is Happy Hour on this fabric =^.^=

The last to share is a purchase made from Rosie's.  The top green FQ is for Cats in Pajamas project.  I have lots of cats to make PJs for LOL.  The coordinating Christmas fabrics are just because purchases.  The first down from the FQ is the inspiration.  I'm going to look at the entire line to see if there is something else that goes with it not carried by Rosie's.

So I have purchases for Twist and Treat, Cats in Pajamas, and something Christmassy.  A completion in Kampfire.  Two feel good donations.  Finally a start to Winter Blues.  Check in on me tomorrow for progress on Winter Blues.

Sunday Stash Report, July 14, 2024

Just enough of these fabrics to make a small charity quilt.  I had a bit of fun with the stripe border fabric.  Not the usual layout, but something a bit different.  Now to find a back.  I am thinking a blue binding will be perfect.

This design is called Chinese Coins.  It comes from a kit put together for Sunshine Quilt Guild cuddle quilts.  It was nearly done when I received it to finish up.

I have four placemats done that will be on their way soon to my niece.  She started one of them nearly ten years ago.  I finally finished up a set for her.  Each of these take four yards of fabric cut into 2 1/2 inch strips.  Certainly helped free up space in my 2 1/2 inch container.

Star of Hope is into a top less the inner and outer borders.  Need a Rosie's trip to find something that will work with one of the two fabrics I have in my stash for the inner border.  I should be able to get to this some time in the week ahead.

Sunday Stash Report, June 9, 2024

Kolonization is done!  Yippee!!  This is a 2022 UFO and a 2023-2024 Sunshine Challenge UFO.  I got all nine UFOs done for the Sunshine Challenge.  More chances to win the prize for getting all of them done.

Sunshine's May BOM coordinated by Gina turned out very cute with the peach fabric as the petals.  Gina supplied the stigma fabric.  With the cream fabric as the background the stigma pops out a bit.

Klankbottom still needs its bells on the tips of his boots.  I plan to get these on later this evening.  Oh, Clankbottom happens to be a town where the kids book The Elves and the Shoemaker is set. =^.^=

Finally, this adorable cat print charity quilt using the pattern called Oh Henry.  Lorna kitted these up and Kerry quilted it.  Definitely a pattern I plan to keep in mind for future projects.  It went together so simple.

This week is Sunshine's last meeting of the 2023-2024 membership year.  We will be having a pot luck and celebrating 45 years as a guild.  Lots of fun things are planned to include drawing the winner of the 2023-2024 Opportunity Quilt.

Sunday Stash Report, June 2, 2024

These arrived on Saturday from Kerry.  I had the units just about done during the Sunshine Retreat.  They were first to work on and get to Kerry for quilting after returning home.  They are all trimmed and ready for binding.

I thought it somewhat funny to see that each of the bindings for these three quilts are red.  These are ready for the iron and then onto the quilts they will go.

Hand sewing the binding down along with the hanging sleeve and label are first to finish.  I need this last Sunshine UFO Challenge finished for the June Meeting.

I also need to finish the BOM.  I have pulled from my stash the fabrics not provided.  Pretty much all it needs is my sewing machine and some additional cutting along with assembly.  I think the coral will make a nice flower.

As Sunshine's President reminded us, winners of BOMs are supposed to finish their projects from the blocks by the end of the membership year.  Well I'm almost there...wonder if I should just share the tops?

Nothing to claim.  Happy 4th Birthday to Greyson!

Sunday Stash Report, May 12, 2024

This was the first project to finish at the Sunshine Quilting Retreat.  Started out with a couple of simple sewing projects.  This one is called Hearts for Linus from a Quiltmaker magazine many years ago.  Mom made the hearts.  Next I pulled from my stash coordinating fabrics and assembled.  Notice the cat in one of the daisy blocks second row up from the bottom.  I have had it waiting for the special project and this one happened to be just that after nearly three years of Sunshine Quilting Retreats later.
Next up was Oh Henry that is a charity project through Sunshine Quilt Guild.  I was able to get a back for it and it is ready for quilting.
Visiting two quilt shops in Temecula, I didn't come home with too much.  Zoom in and check out the cat and the fiddle =^.^=  The green and two stripes are for a future Christmas project.  I couldn't decide upon the two stripes, but fairly certain the top one will be used.  The other items are just because.

These are all the favors from my Quilting Sisters.  There are many unique, handmade, and sweet thought out items.  FQ at the bottom is what I gifted.
These 10" squares were one of the activities one could participate in using Patriotic fabrics.

Going along with our theme for this year my door prize.
Last but certainly not least.  One of the Left, Right, Center winners shared her winnings!

We had a great time as we always do.  The food was way too much, but delicious.  The weather was comfortable.  Finally, the traffic up to and back from wasn't bad.  All my project, tools, and leftover snacks have been incorporated back into the house.  Time to put my feet up and relax.

Check out my Design Wall tomorrow for all the projects I was able to get started.

Sunday Stash Report, April 28, 2024

I have been a bit busy this past week with Kolonization.  The blue part of the flag block is complicated, time consuming, and the cutting.  Lots of small pieces.  Once these are done adding the stripes will be a breeze.

I am all set to sew more together.  I was able to cut the last of the blue part to make a total of 20 flags.  I can easily get three or four done after kitchen clean up.  Tonight is a bit different though as we have friends coming over for Mexican.

Chilaquiles Casserole will be served along with yellow rice, chips, guacamole, melted cheese dip, and of course margaritas.  Rebecca is bringing the desert.  Should be a terrific meal shared with long time friends.

This block finished too.  It is coordinated by Jennifer for Sunshine's April BOM.

This is the red truck that I sewed up for Kerry.  After she quilted it she kept it for sewing on the binding.  Suppose this is what happens when you gift your friend who happens to be your quilter LOL.

Nothing once again changes my stash count.  Nothing in and nothing finished.  I am also getting around the 2024-2025 Sunshine Opportunity quilt with the binding.  Three sides done =^.^=  Just need another evening to complete it.  I have a big tote getting even bigger for Sunshine's May meeting.
