Happy Friday! I'm home today listening to the rain...what a wonderful sound in San Diego =^.^=
I have Kanine Karnivores complete. Kerry will take it back on Tuesday for a few finishing quilting stitches around their faces. Placement of the eyes necessary for Kerry to finish the magic she creates.
Today, besides a little dusting, I am catching up on three different BOMs. All three need April and May offerings finished. Lot's of cutting...

I certainly could have used one more full day of sewing...these weekends (even the three days) end way too soon!
I did have a finish and some rolling of the stash stats yesterday. My April UFO, Kissin' Korner finished. Lucky me too that I have enough of the blocks left to make a second quilt unless I come up with another use for 72 shoo fly blocks.
Kontentment is ready for the scalloped borders that the design by Bonnie Hunter called Allietare suggests. I am pretty certain a single red fabric will be the binding. There is a consistent gray and I do have enough for it to be the binding, but that red is calling out to me. First things first though, chalking in the sew lines with the scallop template.

Kontentment and Kanine Karnivores came home with me on Saturday from Kerry's. She did such nice work on the Buggy Barn design Nick, Knack, Paddywack. I have captured parts of the quilting. Can you make out the words around the border? Kerry's not done yet though. I will be putting the eyes on the four cute dogs in their dog houses then some more detailed quilting around the eyes will complete the quilting.
Lots of projects going on in my sewing room...many with month end deadlines! Linking up with Patchwork Times. Much more to see there today if you have time. Enjoy your week.

DH dropped me off at Beverly's to get fabric for Kanine Karnivores borders, binding and back. I know I've said it before; just love the selection of fabrics on Beverly's Blenders Wall. There was two shades of brown in this design. I needed four yards and had my fingers crossed there was enough of this shade...YIPPEE...

I prepared as much as I could of the mussel unit. I plan a visit tomorrow to pick up more white for the five bones that still need to be done. The bone is the bottom piece of the unit so can't go any further until I have the felted wool.
Kanine Karnivores had a bit of progress. I changed several of the side pieces and the peak section of the lower left block. It is starting to look right, but I still need to do something with the roof of the top right block.
Kerry had several quilts ready for me to pick up on Saturday. I trimmed down all six. The two at the top are mine, Kringles Kargo and Kringles Kargo 2. Each are just 16" x 16". I have a couple of options for the binding for each of them. Audition time!
These are my Mom's projects. Most of them, maybe all of them are donations. I'll be sending them to her soon. Looks like I'll have lots of binding to work on when I visit just a month from today.
I will be busy with the San Diego Humane Society's Fur Ball donation this week. The plan is to have the top done and in Kerry's hands this Friday. Enjoy your week and do find time to look at some of the other wonderful projects today at Patchwork Times.

This week nothing to add or reduce my stash...but I'm working on it! The design is from Buggy Barn called Nick, Knack Paddywack. The original pattern is quite large so I've reduced it in quarters. The one above will be donated to the San Diego Humane Society's 29th Annual Fur Ball. I have three of the bone/muzzle/nose units sewn in place. They are felted wool stitched by hand with cotton perle thread. I have run out of white felted wool otherwise the dog on the bottom right would be done. I have a light tan print for the outside border. Buttons will be sewn on for eyes once Kerry puts her magic touch on the quilting. We are aiming for a completion by the middle of August.
I'm still working on the fabric choices for the dog houses on the project I will keep. Kanine Karnivores, thanks to my Sister will be its name. Depending on what fabric I can find in my stash a border will be selected. So far two fabrics from Kerry's stash and the rest from mine. 13 yards is within reach...

I've been wanting a nice container to store cards and now I have one! Mom found one that arrived on my doorstep. I purchased some plastic write on dividers to separate the categories. So happy now that everything is organized. Thanks Mom!
Many nights this week the TV drama Outlanders has been taking up my attention just after dinner. I do enjoy this show that we are getting via Netflix. Consequently, little time has been left for sewing. Here is where I finished my night. I will make one more dog house once I determine what color combination to make it. The dogs are being made still; four more to go. None of them except the one on the top right is sewn into the dog house. There will be some playing around with which one goes to what dog house after all eight are sewn. There will only be four dog/house blocks for each project surrounded by a border.
Come back and help me figure out what should go where later this week. Enjoy your day!

Started work on the San Diego Humane Society's 29th Annual Fur Ball donation. The event takes place on August 22nd. Kerry and I thought to make this year's donation with pigs and rabbits, but a change took place... Instead this Buggy Barn pattern called Nick Nack Paddy Wack will be offered. Who can't chuckle at the great designs from Buggy Barn? It will be only four blocks big with a border. The blocks are large finishing at 29" x 23". The layout will be two by two with a border. Should finish at a good size. Above is the quilt in the book along with the background fabric.
This photo shows the dogs and their backgrounds.
All of these are the dog house fabrics.
Here is the dog pattern. The dog houses are simple squares, HSTs, a flying geese, and a rectangle.
I will be making two projects at the same time. There are eight fabrics below the pattern pieces.
For ease of moving the project around it all fits nicely in a pizza box.
Here is block one pieced together. The eyes, nose, and bone will be felted wool stitched down by hand. That part is the last of the assembly.
Here is block 1 with the dog house. One done three more to go!
A decision will need to be made as the dogs are assembled on which four to use. This is block 2 ready for stitching. We have enjoyed a pleasant rain the last two days. Much needed water for San Diego! See other wonderful projects in work on the design walls of various quilters through the links at Patchwork Times. Hope you have a terrific week.

Koncentric Konnection has lots of progress. I'm pretty certain I'll be making three more to complete the center block. Take a good look and let me know if you think a different block design should go there instead. I have two small blocks to make yet. One of them will be the #3 design. I want to get more of the checkerboard design in the project. Not sure if the final small block will be #1 or #5. I will be sharing my decision soon with pictures. I had this project selected as my October UFO, but couldn't get it done so it was switched with #3. Then #3 was called for November. So once again I'm pushing to have this done...no more switching!! The pattern is called Beauty 'n Check by Janice Ellertson and Jodel Yover.
These fabrics are the start of what I'll need for the two Buggy Barn designs that I will use in a workshop on Saturday at Paradise Sewing in Poway. I have more fabrics to dig out of my stash yet. Both of the designs Knick Knack Paddy Wack and Crazy As A Bird Dog are in this book, Fortunately I have two pizza boxes! More on these two projects next Monday. Oh, I have some great names thanks to my sister. Knick Knack Paddy Wack was just named today Kanine Karnivores and Crazy As A Bird Dog will be Krazy Koons.
Have fun sewing!

I'm busy working on Koncentric Konnection...still... I have more progress done since this photo was taken. It is a doosie and a half for sure! All said and done it will use up quite a bit of fabric; right at 13.75 yards. But, I'm getting ahead of myself... Must get it done first =^.^=
Today I'll be pulling fabrics for two Buggy Barn designs. I will be in a workshop on Saturday to make Knick Knack Paddy Wack and Crazy As A Bird Dog. If you know Buggy Barn designs, they can be a big fabric user. I'm just hoping most of it will come from my stash.
Soon I'll be looking through my stash for suitable Grand Illusion fabrics. This is the new Bonnie Hunter mystery. Fabric requirements are already posted on www.quiltville.com. First clue goes live the week of Thanksgiving. I will not miss that start! I purchased the FQ of the teal just recently with a nice discount coupon. Teal is something I'm always running out of because it's at the top of my favorite color list.
This week I'll be putting together my Krazy Kookoos project. I'm anxious to claim the yardage for this one...
Until next time. Happy Quilting!
