One more gift to show...

Ok ...this is the quilt that

wasn't supposed to be...:0)

I intended to make a nice and sweet quilt a la the ones I showed

you in the last posts...

BUT...

this little quilt wanted to be born!!

I said earlier that I wanted to make a gift for Shirley

and I showed her gift to me here...

and this day I had a clear thought on what to make...

but I also had told myself to

"GO WITH THE FLOW"

so with that in mind I entered my sewing room...

looking for a nice pink fabric...

But...I stumbled on a pretty

turquoise - purple - green

flower fabric from my stash...

Grabbed that one...with a smile ...

added a green - white - dotty fabric...

and started to sew...

Thoughts kept coming...

wonder if Shirley likes brights...hmmm....

Well...

I just kept on sewing...

and when I were going to add what was going to be in the middle...

Nope...the quilt told me....

You should add this instead...

little messages...from our shared days...

and so I did!

Out with my letter stamps and textile colour...

...I added words...

Ahhh...it's so busy and crazy...

Shirley needs to wear sunglasses when looking at it...I thought!

So I mailed her and warned her...:0)

Brave as she is...she wouldn't let me make something else!!!

So I kept adding my words and some fun little crocheted circles

that I had made earlier to mend my jeans...

they matched perfectly!

Mailing her again...and asked if she had changed her mind...

Nope...she hadn't...:0)

So off it went to live in Great Britain ...

Looking at the pics afterwords...

It doesn't seem to be that bright and totally haphazard ...and crazy...

Just a little..:0))

So that's my story of a quilt

that wasn't supposed to be

but insisted to BE!!!

Maricas Christmas gift...

This one I made for Marica...

For her I chose another colour palette...

thought of throwing in some black...:0)

But NAHHHH... I added pink instead...lol

Love the reindeer on this one...:0)

Gift for Louise...

This year I actually got something made for some of my friends...

hooray to me...:0)

Well..have to confess I took an easy way out this year on two of them...

found two started projects that was intended for

Louise and Marica two years ago!!!!!

So with some willpower I dusted my machine off and finished them!!

...This one I made for Louise...

The pattern is from a Chestnut Junction stitchery...

Love them...very fun and easy...

And random piecing around the stitchery...

just as I like... adding one piece after another...

And every time when I'm finished... I want to keep it..lol..

And says to myself..

Stina.. You have to make one for yourself too...:0)

Maybe I will ...

have a whole year until next Christmas...haven't I???

Package from Great Britain...

This year Shirley and I have sent LOTS of emails back and forth

sharing good and bad days...

So I decided to try and make her something as a little gift this Christmas...

Guess she must have had the same thought...lol

My Christmas gift came in the mail after a long wait...:0)

Got caught somewhere in between!!!

Very well worth all the waiting...

Both Viktor and I got spoiled...

Viktor got some very cute Rudolph milk and white chocolate...

And a fun notepad to write in 3D...

And I had to try of course..

Silly me...!

Now for spoiled me!

Lovely chocolate for me...

Think Pink!!

...Such a great idea...

Have tried to get my hands on some of these ones...

I am so overwhelmed by all the gifts...

they made me so happy

The New Year...

The New Year at my place was a very calm and easygoing family night...

we did lit some Khom Loys and sent away some gremlins or if it was goblins

on a journey without a destination and as Viktor said...

hope no one gets them...

Don't worry I said...once up in space they get out of air and vanish!!:0)

Felt good!!!

We ate good food and dessert

played games and looked at all the fireworks...

wow is all I can say...

having spent the last years at my parents place

I didn't know how much fireworks there were to look

at right here in my little village...

Pretty!

Molly wasn't bothered a bit with all the noise...happy for that!

Wished us all a very Happy New Year

and after that we were ready for bed!!:0)

Have been thinking of what kind of word that would be good

for me to follow this year and it is:

no other than just ME think it will be ok.

And with this I want to wish you all

a very C R E A T I V E and Happy New 2013!!!

My Christmas...

 Holidays are almost over...

Here in Sweden we celebrate

"Trettonde dags jul"

(Epiphany)

Will have dinner at Petra and Jimmy tonight...

All I have to bring is some snacks...smile!!!

 

After that we can dance the Christmas out...:0)

Still have all the decorations up...but after this holiday 

it's time to put them away until next time..

We celebrated Christmas for the first time in our house 

have always been at either my parents or Lars family...

It was lovely days spent with family with 

Good food and lots of laughter..

Just as it should be!!

Even Santa came for a visit...;0)

...Homemade ice lanterns lit at morning...

...early morning walk to Petra and Jimmy with all family...

...Christmas morning breakfast...

...some Glögg and homemade candy...

...Santa...

...presents...

...and more food...

...FAMILY...

Christmas Pincushion tutorial...the last one..:O)

 Finally..

here it comes the last instructions for the pincushion...:o)

Cut a 1 3/4" x about 23" strip

*Sew this strip to the side of the pincushion...

(havent figured out the length of the stip... time..flies...:O)

But I did like this...

I started a little bit in on the strip ..sewed almost until the end...

pinned the ends together...

*then I sewed the ends together... 

*Split the seam and continue to

 sew the opening shut... 

 Now it should look like a little hat..:O)

Inside...

Outside...

*Use Template C to cut out a bottom

( you can use a a fusible interface here if you want a sturdy bottom)

*Pin the bottom evenly around the pincushion..

start with four pins and add more...

*Use the rest of the ric rac...

lay it between the layers... 

start a little bit in on the ric rac...

You can see on the picture that the top of the ric rac is just

 touching the outer edge of the side of the pincushion...

*Tuck the ric rac in while sewing....and

keep on sewing like this until the end...

tuck the ends in and continue sewing  the opening shut.

*Make an innerbag in some scrap fabric...

( wont show) 

(use template C ... make it a seam allowance smaller)

*Fill the innerbag with some filling..

(walnut shells...rice or something with weight)

*Sew the opening shut on the machine...

dont bother to turn ...raw ends out..;O)

Turn the pincushion inside out...

tuck the innerbag inside..

and start filling the pincushion with polyester fill..

nice and firm..!!!!

And sew the opening shut by hand..

Nicer that way!!!

And voila.. FINISHED!!!!

There you have a new pincushion just in time for Christmas!!!:O))
