A little something after a long while.

1st I would like to say I hope all my blogger friends have been well.

I have had a little bit of time off from work due to a pending medical procedure, and I got right back to the hobby.

I would like to share this WIP of a Zaku Kit-bash using two other kits, an astrea and astray blue frame.
Tonz of inspirations from all over have been used in this build, the soul concept idea is for a more streamlined mecha-tomically correct plastic model.

Sooo, For reference sake and hopefully to inspire another out there one day...image dump.

Gundam Age WIP "Genoace Ver Clu"

Another update on this build, after watching a few movie's and some net surfing I found my muse.

I have wanted to do a Tron Legacy version of a robot kit since the movie and Disney cartoon came out, but just haven't had the mojo too do so.

This has been a longer than usual venture than most 1/144 kits that I have done, due to not having a initial concept in mind and working out the paint and application issue's. If I had more of a reason other than fun, I guess I could have done a MG kit with all kinda LED's an what not...but pfft what for lol.
So I have otherwise had to figure the best way of applying a Florescent acrylic paint which actually when dried shows up opaque with out black light, I have had to use a mixture of citadel along with pre-applying a coat of model master's orange all by hand brushing...(which kinda sucks)... water based upon a alcohol based has a few drying time challenges I must say.

(Too the up-an-comers....this is not as easy as it looks....do your paint testing if you ever decide to try it this way.)

mostly for process reference.

10,000.00 A.Z. (After Zeon) war long forgotten..WIP

Been real busy with many things as of late, Sssoooo..this is taking me a bit longer than hoped. After I took care of some business today, I jumped right back on this project.
Wasted a few hours casting more structure's, I think it was because it was a bit colder today than yesterday dang it. I was able to lay down some ground work and fiddle about with the layout of it, also picked up a few Prieser N scale animals so as to set the tone for this diorama. I still have a long way to travel with this because of all the foliage and weathering that I have envisioned, I was inspired recently to try and simulate a scene from the Will Smith Movie "I AM LEGEND" (reference picture @ the bottom)

And for those who don't know what Zeon is, Its the faction that fought against the united earth federation in the Gundam series..I think..lol...Hence the Title.

Here's what I got to show so far...concept mostly.

Here are the reference shots that I'm shooting to capture the essence of in this diorama

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY!

Partly due to boredom, I decided to make a faint attempt at a gunpla kit  review. I just had a few days off and I decided to snap fit the hell outta a few kits. (mainly to keep my mind occupied)

1st : GUNDAM AGE GHIRARGA, I have never seen the anime and cud care less about it. But the kit design and engineering are very GOOD as far as I'm concerned
(great design for kit bashing etc)

Next up : MG BLITZ GUNDAM .
This is a recent release in the Bandai Master Grade line from the Gundam Seed series, an looks BAD azz...
BUT KINDA SUCKS in some area's....the plastic feels cheap, and is very brittle/soft compared to other MG kits I have.
Also there are a few fitting issue's..The booster an back armor part is a main culprit. It only has 1 peg to secure the whole booster pack...which keeps falling off..dammit. :0 and the manipulators are CRAP...(hands)
But for those out there that are into kit bashing....MANY POSSIBILITIES this kit has.(  A FEW OK GIMMICKS btw)

And Lastly : Kotobukiya's Frame Arms kits

The design and concepts of this series is kick azz, ...BUT.....the inner frame thingy is just down right UGLY!
I would say these kits were geared towards up and coming modeler's..(which is a good thing)...BUT
for older guys...they are a down right pain in the butt....( For Show Quality Finishing ) ...there are tonz of horrid seem lines and factory cut nub marks all over the dang thing...( a family/working mans worst nightmare)...the extra parts and snap on armors would be good for kit bashing...but the articulation sucks IMO..sooo I say to the seasoned guys out there...beware, unless you have a ton of free time to clean up the messy nub marks an all.
