Happy Birthday to a Lady With Many Titles

Hello Krafters!

Remember a LONG time ago, I started a Ten Minutes Or Less Card series? Well I started it up again. I have to say, a lot can be done in that amount of time! To keep the juices flowing and to actually use the crafty lab, this is going to be my new norm.

Anywho, my pastor asked me to make a card for her and of course things did not run smoothly. She wanted to include the many titles her sister holds. After attempting to create my original idea, I eighty-sixed that idea and came up with this one.

I used the typewriter Spellbinders die. I typed up the titles on the computer with a typewriter font and printed them out. The pattern paper is Basic Grey’s Little Black Dress. I heat embossed the sentiment. I have to say, I really like this white embossing powder by WOW. It is much better than what I had before. I also used some stitched ribbon and added a flower to it. To finish off the card, I added some bling. That’s it!

It took me about 20 minutes to finish the card. But that time included typing and printing :)

Happy Birthday-Practical Scrappers DT Project

Hi Krafters,

Today over at Practical Scrappers we are celebrating birthdays! There are so many different styles of cards. I don't know about you, but can't you use more card ideas; especially birthday cards. Go check them out! My card was lifted from Jess Larsen. I really like the simplicity of it, but it has a little something that makes it special with the ability to be interactive. She used a die. I made a cut file using Make the Cut. I fussy cut the images from the DCWV Celebrations Stacks and the sentiment. I also used a Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder for the front. To finish off the card, I used Tendy Twine and used a button on my stash.
It is short and sweet today! I hope you enjoyed today's project. Remember to visit Practical Scrappers for more inspiration. Krafthead~

SOC DT-Wishing You A Wonderful

Happy Sunday Krafters!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Today, I would like to share a masculine card that can be used for any occasion for the Scraps of Color DT. It is grungy, distressed and I REALLY like how it turned out!
I used Swagger by Fancy Pants. Now I will be the first to admit, I am not a huge fan of FP. I find it hard to work with their papers for some reason. However, I can see myself using every single page of this luscious paper! It screams MAN...mmmmhmmmm!

For some texture, I used stencils by Crate Paper and Prima. Once that was dry (I used my heat tool to speed up the process), I was going to add some white acrylic paint to some of the pattern paper. Side note, do not do this OVER your project while being distracted....yep you guessed it; paint everywhere. BUT it worked out because it added more interest and grunge to the project! Sometimes accidents are good! The arrows were fussy cut from the collection.
I used a sentiment from Close to My Heart. It goes with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. However, I hand cut the sentiment. I used an eyelet to make the occasion. The wonkiness of the eyelet added more distressing to the project. As said, some accidents are good! That's it!!

I hope you enjoyed today's project! Remember to like Scraps of Color on FaceBook! Thanks for stopping by, Krafthead~

In A Pinch-Happy Birthday!

Hi Krafters!!

I have to admit, I miss crafting regularly! I missed posting to my blog and all of you! So much was going on and honestly, I just didn’t have the energy to make anything. The ideas still flowed though. While I was in Arkansas tending to my father my aunt’s birthday just so happen to fall during my trip. How convenient right? I guess that was God’s way of telling me not to get lost in all of the drama that was going on and I had to remain true to me too! I am a crafter!

I did not plan on doing any projects while I was away. I was faced with buying my aunt a card or making her one. I have not purchased a card in almost three years!  I was put to the test to see if I could create something great for her with very little J On a trip to Walmart I checked out their craft section and found some beautiful papers by Colorbok. I also purchased some cardstock and ink.

Then on the way back to my aunt’s place, I saw a Hobby Lobby! It was like an oasis in a desert I tell you…I had no idea there was a HL there!  I asked her to stop.  We both were at awe! Do you ever lose yourself in a craft store? It is like I am in a trance! Anywho, I grabbed a cheap trimmer (which actually cuts better than my Cricut trimmer), scissors, adhesive, bling, a punch and a stamp set. I was good to go…at that moment though, I really missed all of crafting luxuries I had back home L

Today’s card is very simple. I fussy cut all of the flowers from the paper pack. I inked all of the edges. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with my new punch. I added a little bling and that was that! I had to make a quick and simple card so my aunt would not figure out what I was doing J I was happy with how it turned out and more importantly she was overjoyed! Sorry for the photo, I snapped it with my cellphone~

I guess the moral of the story is sometimes we get so spoiled with gadgets and tools. I admit, cutters, both manual and electronic, are convenient. However, they are not necessary to create something beautiful! I am thankful for this experience because I take what I have for granted.  Never again!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project. Thank you all for stopping by, Krafthead~
