True Blood Loss

It's over. What am I going to do now? The season finale of the third season of True Blood aired Sunday night. It was fantabulous, shocking, grotesque, and off the chain as usual. But now what will I do on Sunday nights? I contemplated with my husband what to do about this last episode. We thought maybe we'd watch two minutes a week to make the last episode last, but we couldn't hold out. We had to watch it! I seriously have not ever loved a TV show like I love this one. It's bordering obsession. Why?
I'll Tell You Why
1. Eric Northman (and no this isn't the last time you'll see that pic at the left).
2. It's a show my husband and I both love to watch together.
3. It's funny. Watch this funny scene of a vampire texting an expletive. (Franklin was one hilariously insane vampire!)
4. It's suspenseful, even if you've read the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
5. Eric Northman - not just because he's gorgeous, but the character is humorous, complex and unpredictable.
6. It's shocking. Have you ever seen vampire goo being carried around in a fancy jar?
7. I love Sookie's southern accent and the way Bill says, "Sookie."
8. Handsome hardbodies. (Not only Eric, but Jason, Alcide, Bill, Sam, heck, even Hoyt's kind of cute in his own way.)
9. I love the clicking sound when the vampire teeth retract and extend.
10. This character.

Here's my Survival Guide until Season 4 premieres next summer.

1. Read the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris (I just finished book four; there are currently eleven, and the books are funny and suspenseful, too).
2. Read and reread this issue of Rolling Stone magazine.Photobucket

3. Drink True Blood beverage (I seriously have two in my kitchen pantry in case Eric stops by).

4. Dress like a Merlotte's waitress for Halloween this year.

5. Read the Vampire Diaries book and finally watch the eighteen episodes I have on my DVR.

6. Watch Zoolander (I have never seen it and I love funny movies. Oh, and Alexander Skarsgard is in it!)

7. Watch and groove to Snoop Dogg's music video titled, "Oh, Sookie."

8. Visit Bon Temps, Louisiana on Spring Break.

9. Rent Eclipse when it finally comes out on DVD (I haven't seen it yet!!).

10. Give blood at church preferably in the evening so I can scan the area for thirsty yet non violent vampires (I actually already do that - well, the first part anyway).

Any other suggestions for me to get me through this difficult time? ;)

Bloody Good

Yes, yes, yes. I’ve been sucked into the vampire hype. First, I started watching HBO show, True Blood, last year. Wow. It’s campy, it’s funny, it’s suspenseful, it’s graphic. I love that show. The second season ends on Sunday, and I am so disappointed that I won’t be watching new episodes after Sunday (which I'll actually watch Monday because we are having people over for the Bears game Sunday night). The characters are such….characters! Sookie is strong and unique. Vampire Bill is such a protective Southerner. Eric the Nordic vampire somehow got even better looking this season. Jason is a riot. Tara has the most athletic body I have ever seen. Mariann was perfectly cast. I could go on and on. If you haven’t seen it, start with the first season DVD.
I actually just finished the first book this series is based on, Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. (I’m holding the book in above picture. Do you like my Tru Blood t-shirt?) Great book, but I do wish I’d read it before the series. I always like reading the book first then the movie, this is no exception. I do think the series does the book justice and even elaborates well on other characters. But I will try and catch up on the books before the next season hits.
I read the Twilight series in February and March of this year. My sister just recently read through the four books in a week! I did enjoy the series. Eclipse was my favorite. And I’m Team Jacob. I’m a dog lover, and he’s just not as controlling as Edward. Not that Edward isn’t dreamy… The movie was good, not great, but good. I will go see New Moon in the theaters this fall!
Also, I will watch the new fall show, Vampire Diaries, to get my vamp fix. In fact I'm going to watch it after I post this blog. I know it won’t be as good as True Blood. But it will have to do.

Like my other vampire tshirt? If you can't read it from the pic, it says, "Only vampires can love you forever." Here I am holding not a vampire book, but Prada and Prejudice by Blueboarder Mandy Hubbard! I won it on Tabitha’s blog recently. Thank you, Tabitha! I have actually never read any Jane Austen. I am going to read Pride and Prejudice then this book. Just in case there are any fun parallels. I’m looking forward to it!
Are you into vampires too?

Addicted to Blood

True Blood that is…My hubby and I watched the newest episode of HBO’s True Blood last night. True Blood is one of my favorite shows this fall. New episodes air on Sunday nights. We usually watch each episode on Sunday nights after the kids are asleep, but busy schedules postponed our viewing this week. The current episode had the usual campiness and outrageousness that we have come to enjoy in this series.
True Blood is centered around the life of Sookie Stackhouse. Sookie, played brilliantly by a blond Anna Paquin, is a spunky, independent waitress who falls in love with a vampire named Bill. The show is set in the south during an unsettled era when vampires are being mainstreamed into society when a synthetic blood drink, True Blood, becomes available. Some vampires sustain themselves with this new drink, others cannot resist their primal ways of drinking from humans.
True Blood is mystery, comedy, fantasy, love story all in one. I do not usually watch horror films, but this really isn’t your typical horror show. There are blood and guts and very graphic adult situations (it is HBO!), but the main characters seem more intriguing and interesting.
There are only three episodes left in the season. If you are an avid viewer like me, chime in about your favorite character, scene or what you like best about this show. If you haven’t watched the series, I advise you to try and watch it from the beginning of the series as it is a mystery, too. If HBO happens to play the reruns in order, watch that, or wait for the DVD that I assume will be out next year.
True Blood is based on mystery novels by Charlaine Harris. I usually like to read books first, before seeing the movie. I will still seek out the novels and devour them after the series is done. I imagine they will still be bloody good.
