W Stocking

I did finished WZ's stocking in plenty of time for Christmas. Weaved in all those monstrous ends, duplicate stitched a W, blocked it and even lined it! It's just perfect.

Now we just have to wait for Santa fill it!

I wish you all a wonderful and safe Holiday. I'm signing off until 2011. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!

The Perfect Scarf

Here's a photo of WZ's in his impromptu candy cane scarf that I made for our family Christmas photos. Divine Images Photography (a friend of mine) took the photos and she did an awesome job. (She takes the photos and I edit them - It's fun to work with her beautiful photography.) The scarf was the perfect touch to his outfit! You can see more from the photoshoot HERE.

I so enjoy doing graphic design work for Alana of Never Not Knitting. I recently finished laying out the graphics for her Autumn Vines Beret pattern. This is a such beautiful design. I just got a printed copy of the pattern in the mail, and of course the lovely Alana sent me two so I could give one to you!

Leave me a comment. Let me know what you think of this awesome beret. I'll draw a winner soon(ish).

NNK Knitterella Giveaway

I know my posts have been full of giveaways lately but I'm sure you don't mind! Just had to talk more about NNK's giveaway. Not only does the winner get an assortment of Knitterella Gift Tags but they'll is also get an autographed copy of New England Knits! Worth mentioning don't you think? Go ENTER!

You also must listen to her podcast. It's a great one. She talks about knit-giving horror stories. When I heard about her horrid 'hat' story my jaw dropped, it was tragic. Melissa LaBarre, designer and blogger of Knitting School Dropout, also shares a story.

So pour yourself some hot cocoa, grab your needles and tune into her podcast HERE. Enjoy and good luck!

Holiday Wristlets

Even though I'm not doing too much knit-giving this year I'm pushing to get everything done in a timely, stress free matter. Hot off the needles is a pair of Scrunchie Wristlets. The pair I made before were such a hit I decided it's my knit to give this year.

I also want to give a special THANK YOU for all the orders and nice comments on my new Knitterella gift tags. Orders are being packaged and shipped as we speak!

More New Knitterella Gift Tags!

I wasn't going to release my NEW TAGS until the new year but I'm so thankful they are done I just couldn't wait to show you! I was so happy with the look of my Holiday Tag that I expanded the design into some new everyday tags. The 'Just for You' tags are great for many occasions and the 'Sweet Baby' tags are the perfect touch to all those handmade baby gifts. Of course all of my new tags have the ever-so-handy new fiber and care instructions on the backs. (Just LOVE that!) Hope you enjoy these new tag designs as much as I do and find them useful as well. Besides, at $3.95 for 6 tags I think these are a steal!

For more info and to purchase a set (or more) click HERE or on the tag designs below. Enjoy!!!

The Vest

I've wanted to make this vest from the moment I saw it. I first saw it at the Deep South Fibers booth at TNNA this past summer. Then I saw it again on the run way at Stitches Midwest. I knew I had to make it!

It took much longer for me to get to making this then I thought it would but the wait was worth it. I'm so pleased with this vest. I think it's really unique and super cute!

Thank you to my friend Alisa for taking the photos. She's starting her own photography business called Divine Images Photography and I've been editing her photos. It's been a lot of fun and I'm glad to partner up with her. She's very creative and takes awesome photos, you can see more of her photography work here.

WIP Wednesday

Here is a sneak peak of a WIP that is close to being done. I can't wait to finish this one!

I also wanted to let you know that Katie sent the info on the beautiful cowl she sent me for Autumn. Her is what she said:

It's the Burnished Leaves Cowl pattern and the yarn is Malabrigo Silky Merino in black. The pattern calls for sportweight and this yarn is DK, so I cast on 105 stitches to make it a little snugger. I love the pattern and would totally make it again.

Thanks again, Katie!

More Slouch

This was a quick knit - finished it while WZ napped - gotta love that! I knit this hat with Malabrigo… OK, so I never understood what all the fuss was about with Malabrigo yarn but now I totally get it… this yarn ROCKS! The yarn is so wonderful to knit with. Love the color too. I will totally be knitting with more Malabrigo in the future. I think this hat did turned out good but I was hoping for it to have a bit more slouch. Nonetheless, it is a cute hat and I will wear it proudly.

I want to give a special thanks to Melynda for taking these photos. I always feel a little awkward when I have someone take photos of me and my knits, especially in public. We had some good laughs doing this in the parking lot after our fab (but CHEESY) dinner. From there we made it down to the SE Michigan Crafter's Meetup. The Meetup had a really great turn out. Lots of girls sewing and knitting. (see photos HERE) I had a really nice time and meet a lot of fun and crafty girls. So glad I got to meet the lovely Rae - she super nice and has inspired me to get my sewing machine out again. She was working on a super cute top and also a quilt that I feel in love with. I also left the meetup feeling inspired to try some designing of my own. It's something I've always wanted to do. Maybe a hat with 'more slouch' just might be my first pattern design. hmmmmm… let's see if I can keep the motivation/inspriation going!

A Hat and TPK

I feel like it's been awhile since I've posted a new FO and finally I have one to show you. This little knitted hat was a must. With the colder weather setting in WZ needed a nice, warm hat with ear flaps.

This one was something I sort of made up as I went. Used stash yarn too which is always a plus. I really like the way the colors worked out together.

I also have another FO of a different kind to show you. I've been busy with my graphic design work and just finished up a revamp of The Plucky Knitter's look. She wanted a cozy, vintage feel without straying too far from her original Plucky look. With a new blog-over, logo, avatar and banners we are both really happy with how things turned out. Be sure to visit her blog to see the makeover in full. *Please note for TPK's blog, I did the graphic design/art direction and Moonarts make it live by doing the html and coding.

I'm excited to say that I'm working on a couple more logos and pattern layouts for some popular names in the knitting community. Once they are done I'll be excited to share them with you. Remember, if you are in need of any graphic design work, please feel free to contact me at jillzielinski@gmail.com — I'd be happy to work with you!

Cowl Love

Since I don't have any FO excitement to share these days I thought I'd share an FO from someone else. Thank you Katie for sending this beautiful cowl to donate to Autumn! So generous of you help out. It's greatly appreciated.

Remember, if you are in the area, you can buy these cowls and scarfs at Apple Valley Yarn Company in Freeland Michigan. All proceeds go to Autumn (read Autumn's story HERE).

Katie, if your reading this, email me your pattern and yarn info. This is a sweet cowl and I'd love to know the pattern. Thanks again!

Scrunchie Wristlets

As soon as these fingerless gloves were off my needles, I took a quick photo and then wrapped them up for Miss O. A perfect little birthday gift for her. I think she really liked them. I know I did!
