Mother's Day Pots and Pans

For Mother's Day Jason got me some much needed pots and pans. After a lot of research and planning as usual, we decided to go with stainless steel and love it!
Meal planning still stinks, but at least cooking it is a little more fun :)

Mother's Day Program

Brooklyn had a little Mother's Day Program at school that her class performed for all their mommy's. Beckam decided she needed a little good luck hug.

Then, I guess he thought he'd just find a seat and join them too.

She would get all nervous when she knew I was taking a picture. But, she sang and did all the actions this time- unlike her Christmas program. It was so cute, they sang some adorable songs. She also had to give a talk in primary on Mother's Day. Usually on her assigned day, she melts and Jason or I have to give her talk for her. This time, however, she stood up to the microphone and gave that talk like she wasn't even nervous. Whoa! Tears welled up my eyes as I watched her from my little tiny primary chair in the audience. Even Jason got choked up! Just one of those proud moments that take you by surprise.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn threw up one day and was so scared that she would throw up again that she held up a bowl in front of her face even while taking a nap just to make sure she was ready. If I tried to move it from her, she gripped it with white knuckles.
She HATES throwing up. She cries while doing it...which is exactly my "style" of throwing up. Gross topic, but come on, we all have a "style" :)

After feeling much better, she got rid of the bowl!

Funny story about her: One day Brooklyn kept bugging me for a piece of chocolate, even after I had already given her a few pieces. She would follow me around pulling on my shirt saying, "Mom, can I please have another piece of chocolate?!" Finally, I said, "yes, you can have a piece when you can be-have." (I hyphenate it only so you understand her response.)
She responded by saying, "okay- I am have"

Little Valentine's

We received a package from Monga and Papa for Valentine's Day. The kids were so excited. They gathered around Jason with big eyes all full of suspense.

Brooklyn beaming with joy as she opens up the Pinkalicious books.

Beckam you can see is still working on unwrapping his present int he background.

Still unwrapping...

...still unwrapping...
...and almost there...

Ta-da! He did it!

Brooklyn gets right to work reading those books...she's reading and enjoying herself...

We got a little plate and a nice card.

...When suddenly Beckam jumps through the air to interrupt reading time. Brooklyn is so into her book she doesn't even see him coming! It's funny that I even caught this.

I was planning on cooking dinner...then thought Costa Vida sounded much better!

This picture, with Brooklyn's head poking up through the flowers reminds me of the MormonAd: Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

Dinner entailed Beckam trying to blow out the candles the whole time...we finally just had him hurry and blow them out so he could get back to eating his dinner.

Valentine's Day is kind of a wierd holiday to me, unless you're in grade school waiting to see what boy gets you a flower or having the excuse to get out of classes for the dance...there's no real umph to Valentine's Day. But it makes for a nice day to get out of making dinner, to think about those you love, and watch your kids experience their little Valentine's parties.

My Birthday!

I had a great birth-DAY! My mom was staying with us for a few days and made me crepes for breakfast! (My FAV!) Then, Jason took me out shopping to get Beckam's new bedding for his big boy bed. Maybe I'm a nerd, but I love picking out bedding!!! I think it turned out so adorable, I can't wait to get the mattress so I can put it all together.

Then we ate at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I ate about 10 too many rolls...they're so good.

I rode on the saddle while the waitresses sang a cowboy version of happy birthday to me.

The guy behind me looks like he wants a turn on the saddle.

I had cinnamon rolls from Kneaders as my cake...mmmmmm!

My presents. Brooklyn drew pictures on bright paper and folded them up as tight as they could go and put a rubber band and paper clip around them to hold it together. So funny!

A Visit from Aunt Sue

Christmas just keeps on going this year.
Aunt Sue came by to drop off gifts for the kids...

Clothes are good...

...but there's nothing like snuggling up in your own Buzz Lightyear sleeping bag!

Or to be wrapped up in a beautiful princess sleeping bag :)

and tents to go with them!

Thanks Aunt Sue and Uncle Ken! This was awesome.
Here's a message from Brooklyn to you:

fgudhvdashcfsdhfsfhsdhfhdfhsdgfshg

Do you understand that? I think it's code for "You're awesome, I love you so much!"

Ringing in the year 2011

Grandma Kay brought some Christmas gifts down for the kids to open since we were gone for Christmas. Thanks Grandma Kay!

Brooklyn loves her Sleeping Beauty doll.

Here's Brett as we play a Minute to Win It game.

We were playing games all night and forgot to check the time until five minutes after midnight! So, then we got out the sparkling cider and voila!

The bag gets cut lower...

and lower...

...and lower. There's no touching your legs or knees on the floor, so it becomes quite a stretch on the old legs!
Treva and I both made it to the bottom.

We caught Beckam in the kitchen drinking the cider straight from the bottle!

Cousins: Beckam, Draden, Brooklyn, Aliah

The next morning...

All the cousins stayed up until midnight too because none of them ran out of energy or got tired. Aliah was the only kid with enough sense to fall asleep on the couch, but all the little ones stayed awake laughing and playing the whole night. They had so much fun- it was a fun once a year thing to do.
