Felicity Jane ~ Remember This

Earlier this week, I posted a page about my son using the Felicity Jane Kit called Jane.  Now I have a coordinating girly page about my daughter using the same kit.  Pretty awesome... one kit, two completely different looks.

Everything on my page is from the FJ Jane kit except the white cardstock and the black ink.  The roses and the "beautiful" title are wood veneers & the little rose flair button is super sweet.  The strip of white/black hearts is washi tape from the kit & the date tab is from the cut apart sticker sheet.   I did my journaling on the computer and trimmed it with a stitched rectangle die from Taylored Expressions.  Easy peasy!

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

Ali Edwards Eat Story Kit ~ Party of 4

Sometimes you make a page and it's not at all about the photos... that's what happened here.  I could have found a family photo of us at a table; however, the story is really about when I get to set the table for all four of us.  How many dishes I get down from the cupboard or how many forks I reach for in the drawer.

This is a story I've been thinking about for a long time & it's something I don't take for granted since my daughter went to college in the fall of 2015.  The number of place settings changed, but each time she comes home, things are back to the way they should be.  That is what this story is about...

I used the Ali Edwards new Eat Story Kit for this page along with some items from the Numbers Story Kit and the Bond Story Stamp.    I absolutely adore these kits & stamps from Ali Edwards... they are always so perfect for getting our important stories in albums!  This page is not full of products because I wanted the title, photo and story to do the talking.   I really love how it turned out!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Ali Edwards - Bond Story Stamp (together stamp)

Project 52 ~ Week #12

A big Wednesday welcome to see another page from my Project 52 album.  This week I used the Turquoise Edition kit from the Project Life App.  This particular kit has a ton of different cards options with many different looks & styles.

This past week was such a fun week with tons of activities.  I changed the layout around numerous time to try and get more photo spots.  I had a hard time narrowing down the photos I wanted to use so that I could keep the spread to my standard two 6 x12 pages.  But, I finally decided on them & got the stories written down... which is the most important thing.

I have a feeling there will be some additional layouts made from this week using physical products; however, for this Project 52 Album, I want to keep it simple & consistent each week.  If I start adding pages, it will just grow and grow and grow.  Then before I know it, the book will be massive.

Have a wonderful day!

Felicity Jane Kit ~ Just Be You

Hello my friends... I'm so glad you decided to join me today.  Last week I pulled out my new Felicity Jane kit ~ called Jane and made a double page spread using some 5x7 photos of my son & daughter. How awesome to have a kit that can so perfectly be used for masculine or girly photos. Today's layout features the photo of my son.

So I began with the green dotted pattern paper and added several other strips of papers to the top and bottom.  I also added one of the washi tape heart strips.  The wooden embellishment "Just Be You" and the row of hearts were also in the kit.  I cut one of the hearts off to fit in the space and then used it below the photo.  The doily, flair button and date tab were also in the kit.  The "Love You" heart was a printable from last month's kit.  Then I typed and added journaling to the page.  A clean and simple layout.

Later this week, I'll share the one coordinating layout I made of my daughter.

Thanks for stopping by today!

One Little Word ~ March Prompt & Video Layout Share

Welcome to another Monday my crafty friends!  For today's blog post, I'm sharing my March pages for the One Little Word project... AND I have another video!

For the March OLW prompt this month, we made vision boards about our word.  However, before I share my vision boards, I started out with another Pinterest photo on my March divider.

For my word Explore, I am diving into several areas ~ physical {travel}, emotional {me}, relationships {with my husband, my kids & friends}, creativity {my scrapbooking}, and spiritual {faith}.  So I decided to do a vision board page for each of those areas by clipping background papers & words relating to each.

To finish off my pages, I decided to go ahead and add my Actions & Reflections about the March prompts.

And ended with one more photo I found on Pinterest.

And finally, I decided to make a video flipping through my OLW pages
for January thru March so you could see them all together.

Enjoy & have a lovely day!

Felicity Jane ~ Prom-posal

Woohoo!  Welcome back and it's FRIDAY!  Yesterday I shared my Felicity Jane London Kill-A-Kit post where I used all my left over supplies to make 24 Project Life cards.  Well today, I have a page to share using several of the cards.

Asking someone to prom {or getting asked} isn't as simple as it used to be.  Apparently it's a bit deal these days AND it requires some thought and creativity.  My son recently asked his girlfriend to prom on a walk through the woods at a local park with a series of bright colored envelopes hanging from the bushes & trees.  He did a great job... and she said YES!

Here are the cards I posted yesterday... I didn't use the middle row on this page.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Felicity Jane ~ London Kill-A-Kit Project Life Cards

Hi There Friends!  Over the last few weeks I've been sharing pages that I've made with the beautiful Felicity Jane London Kit. {Click here to see my pages}  I have been so happy with this kit and love how my pages have turned out.  So last week I decided that since the next pretty kit was already here, I should finish off all my supplies ~ Kill-A-Kit.  I ended up making 24 Project Life cards (12 - 4x6 cards and 12 - 3x4 cards) jut from the bits and pieces and a few sheets of cardstock.

So here they are in various color palettes ready & waiting to be placed in some pocket pages...

For a few of these cards, I added some black sticker letters from Studio Calico.

Adding journaling blocks with dies is an easy way to dress up your cards.

The last few cards ...

This is what I started with before the Kill-A-Kit...

What's left after I was finished ...

Check back here tomorrow for a pocket page that I created with one of the card sets.

Have a Wonderful Day!

Project 52 ~ Week #11

It's Wednesday and I have a new Project 52 page to share.  Right now this is the only project I am doing in the Project Life App on my tablet.  I enjoy scrapbooking in a variety of ways, but I'm pretty sure I won't switch completely to the PL App for scrapbooking because I enjoy working with physical products too much.

For my page this week, my daughter was heading back to college after her Spring Break and I spent lots of time cleaning out and reorganizing my craft studio.  It was wonderful to de-stash, re-organize and donate stuff. Since I've switched from cardmaking back to scrapbooking 100% of the time, I wanted to get my scrapbook supplies within easy reach and find new homes for my subscription kits!

For this page, I used the September Skies kit... I love how many different looks/styles come in some of the bigger kits.  For example, look at this page that I made back in week #02 with the same kit... it's completely different.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Ali Edwards Week in the Life ~ Album Set Up

Okay now... don't fall over when I tell you this, but I actually did a video walk-thru of the pages for my album set up. Yes, this is new for me & the video is not fabulous, but it was my very first attempt & I used my phone ... so it is what it is... LOL!

Here it is if you want to check it out!

I've got my supplies in these trays ready to go for the week I'm going to document ~ April 17th - 23rd.  These are refrigerator trays from Target and you can find them with the kitchen & silverware tray organizers.  I have several of these in my work space so I can keep track of different projects.

Felicity Jane ~ My Beautiful Girl

Good Morning!  I'm a little late getting my post up today ~ it must be Monday.  Today I have a page to share using my Felicity Jane London Kit.  I think I have used every single piece of this kit ~ I love it!

I saw a beautiful page on the Felicity Jane Blog using this kit from Nancy Damiano and copied her basic layout with the pattern papers as my launching off point {full credit to Nancy for her amazing inspiration}.

The title is a combination of products ~ the "MY" and "GIRL" are from the chipboard alphabet in the kit and the "beautiful" is from American Crafts Thickers {Foam Phrase Stickers - Wild}.  The rest of the items/papers on the page are all from the FJ London Kit.    I added my journaling on the computer and then cut them up to apply to them my page.

Have a Wonderful Monday!

Bond Story Kit ~ This girl & this dog...

When the Ali Edwards Story Kit - Bond came out last month, I knew immediately one of the stories I wanted to tell.  It's a bond that has been in place since September of 2005 & I'm sure it will remain that way forever.  The bond is between Megan and our Golden Retriever Jazmine {Jazz}.

I've been taking a few Ali Edwards classes this year ~ Storytelling with Project Life & Hello Story and have felt encouraged and challenged to write more stories within my pages.  The fact really hit home with me last night as I was looking for an old photo and started looking through our family albums.  I had written a story about when Matt was 3 years old and the things he used to say or how he set off the house alarm when I was in the shower... I never would have remembered those things if I hadn't taken the time to write them down.

So this story of Megan and Jazz is an important story ~ it needs to be told so that years from now, we can remember and enjoy it.  Heck... every story we tell is important.  Get them down, tell those stories regardless of the length.  Add the facts, the emotions, the background details... just get them down on paper.

Page details:

  • The story is printed on a 12x12 piece of lightly textured white cardstock.  I have a Canon Pixma wide carriage printer.   In light of the way the page layout came together, this could easily be printed on a 8 1/2 x 11 & attached to the layout base.
  • The photo was a selfie that Meg took on her phone and texted to me... not the best quality, but I didn't get hung up on that.  It's super cute and this page is more about the story.
  • Almost all the supplies are from the Bond Story Kit and Story Stamp set ~ "bond", cork banner, plus signs, white heart, "better together" rubber circle, and both stamps.  The sticker letters are from Simple Stories, the pattern paper is from the Felicity Jane London Kit, and I added a date stamp.  The ink is from Stampin' Up! and Memento.

Journaling on my page:

There is a special bond between this girl and this dog. It doesn’t seem to matter how much time has passed ~ a few minutes or several weeks, as soon as they see each other, a smile appears and a tail will wag.

When it began…
They met on September 3, 2005. We drove up to Grand Rapids, Michigan to look at a litter of Golden Retriever puppies. Megan and Matt were 8 and 6 years old. There were 9 puppies in the litter ~ 5 girls and 4 boys. One of the girls had been spoken for, so we played with the other 4 sweet baby girls. There was one puppy that kept making it’s way to Megan’s lap; she wore a tennis ball green colored collar. Ultimately, that sweet puppy fell asleep on Megan & we all knew she was the one for our family. A few weeks later we picked her up to bring her home & named her Jazmine ~ Jazz for short.

Over the years…
There have always been lots of cuddles, kisses, and selfies between these two. Jazz knows how to cheer Meg up like no other. We joke that Jazz is afraid of her own shadow, but she would do anything for Megan.  Jazz won’t push any doors open with her nose or her paw, unless Megan is on the other side. Every morning, she pushes her way into Megan’s bedroom to wake her up. Meg doesn’t seem to care and gives her a smile, a pat on the head, and a kiss before falling back to sleep. Then Jazz lays next to her bed and waits patiently for her to get up.

When they are apart…
They miss each other terribly when Megan is away at college. Jazz will continue to nudge the bedroom door open each morning & is disappointed to see an empty bed. During the day, when we can’t find her in her usual napping spots, we usually see her upstairs sleeping on Meg’s bedroom floor. We often text photos of our sweet pup and occasionally included Jazz on a video chat so Meg can see her face. Last fall, Tim even took Jazz for an RV ride to IWU so they could spend a few hours cuddling together when it had been a particularly stressful week at school.

The reunion…
When they see each other after several days, weeks or months, it’s always a joyful reunion for both. A very happy day for sure and Megan knows she will be covered in lots of “magical fibers of love and joy” {dog hair}, so she better have the lint roller on hand ~ but who cares, they are together!

Have a wonderful weekend and
make some memories!

Project 52 ~ Week #10

Hello Friends!  Today I have another page from my Project 52 Album.  Last week, my daughter was home for Spring Break and we had the opportunity to spend time together shopping, laughing, baking, and watching movies/TV shows.  So this week was a little more "Megan Focused"  :)

During the week, she also had several appointments, which isn't a very fun way to spend your break, but necessary nonetheless.  I've been taking the Project Life Story Class from Ali Edwards (which is awesome, by the way) and felt encouraged to dive into a more indepth story this week about one of her doctor appointments.   I'm glad to have the facts, thoughts and feelings written down since that was a focus this week.

Enjoy Your Day!

Bond Story Kit ~ Better Together

Hello Hello!  As I promised yesterday, here is the coordinating pocket page that goes with the 12x12 layout I posted yesterday.  I just adore the Ali Edwards Bond Story Kit and Story Stamp Set.  The possibilities with both are ENDLESS!

Every single supply that I used on this page is from the Bond Story Kit and Bond Story Stamp set, except the ink colors.  Gotta LOVE that!!!   For my page, I collected four photos of Stephanie and I from our travels & activities together.  I can't believe we have only known each other for 4 1/2 years ~ we sure have lived a lot of experiences together in such a short time.

See you tomorrow ~ have a wonderful day!

Bond Story Kit ~ You + Me

Good Morning Peeps!  My layout today features the current Ali Edwards Story Kit Bond & while I love all of these kits, this one is probably my favorite!  There are so many ways you can go with this kit and so many stories to tell.  My story today is about the bond I share with my sweet friend Stephanie ~ I seriously couldn't ask for a better friend.

For the background paper, I used patterns from the Felicity Jane London kit & added the chipboard pieces from the Story Kit.  I typed my journaling on the computer and trimmed them in strips to add under the photo.

This photo was taken in on the first vacation our families took together for Spring Break 2013.  It's still one of my favorite photos of us.

I have a second coordinating layout about our friendship using the Bond kit, but I'll share that one tomorrow.  ;)

Have a Wonderful Day!

Felicity Jane ~ Today was Fabulous

Happy Monday!  I hope your weekend was awesome and you're ready for this new week!  I have a new page to share today using my Felicity Jane London Kit ~ I really love this kit!   When a new kit arrives on my doorstep, my goal is to make at least 2 layouts with that kit, either 12x12 or pocket pages.  I've already made a few layouts with this one, but I just can't stop because the supplies are so amazing!

I started with a full sheet of 12x12 pattern paper as the background border and then added Bazzill white cardstock on top.  I fussy cut the flowers and the "today" title from the sticker sheet and colored just a bit of the flowers with a few shades of yellow watercolor pencils.

I used the stamp set in the kit to finish off the title and few other words on the page.  I added the word "was" and the little hearts using a Hero Arts alphabet stamp set.

To dress up the beautiful photo of my daughter, I added the cardstock stacked labels to one side of the photo, tucking them under the left edge.  Then for some balance, I added strips of pattern paper & a die cut heart to the other side.  I'm super happy with how it turned out.

Enjoy your day!

Spring Break 2013 ~ Grand Cayman

It's finally Friday ~ Woohoo!!!  I'm slowly working my way through posting my Spring Break album that I completed in January.  Does it feel like a never ending album?  LOL!  Well ... I did a lot of pages cause I had a lot of photos.

Once again, on these pages, I used the Simple Stories ~ You Are Here collection.  I just love the colors palette of these supplies & it's been an easy collection to work with on my layouts.

Tip:  If your title blends in too much with your background, try outlining it with a black pen to make it pop!

As I stated earlier in this post, I had a lot of photos for this album.  In order to have enough supplies for all of my layouts, I purchased two full 12x12 kits, a 6x6 paper pad & the SN@P pack which included additional pocket cards & embellishments.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Studio Calico ~ Happy {heart} Day

Hello Again!  As you probably remember, I've been working a lot with various subscription kits for my pages.  I am really enjoying the variety of products and I love when things coordinate.  For my page today, I am featuring the Studio Calico Documenter kit called Confidant .  Being it was February, there were lots of products with love and hearts... which was just fine with me!

When starting a page, the first thing I do is lay out the various 4x6 & 3x4 cards I want to use on the PL page protector.  Next, I print the photos that work with the theme of my layout.   I do most of my photo printing at home on my Canon Pro 9000 Mark II printer, unless it's a large project like a marching band or vacation book.  The reason I print from home is so I can make the photos exactly the size I want and I tend to only print what I need for that project so there isn't so much waste.

After the photos are printed & trimmed to fit my pockets, I start figuring out embellishments & journaling.  For the top journaling blocks, I trimmed one of the 3x4 cards from the kit & stamped the "completely delighted" and the "Surprise" from the Ali Edwards Surprise Story Stamp set (November kit).  Then I wrote in my journaling with a black American Crafts Slick writer pen.  YES, I actually hand wrote my journaling!  That doesn't happen often because I hate my writing, but what can I say, Ali Edwards has been inspiring me & she does that a lot.   For the second journaling box, I added a large stitched heart from the Ali Edwards Bond Story Kit (February).

Other Supplies:
Pink wooden stars, black "XO" stickers - Studio Calico Confidant kit
Black square letter stickers - Pebbles, Inc.
Black phrase stickers - Ali Edwards
Red "xoxo" washi tape - Doodlebug.

Project 52 ~ Week #09

A Big Wednesday Welcome!!!  Today I'm sharing Week #09 for my Project 52 album with a big pop of color ~ pink for Megan of course!   Meg is home for spring break this week and I couldn't be more thrilled to have everyone under the same roof and sitting together at our dinner table!

I used the Fine & Dandy kit from the PL App for the title, journal and filler cards.  I really loved the Home Sweet Home card since Meg came home on Friday.  I also thought the Hooray card was perfect too so I could share the story of Matt asking his girlfriend to prom.

Have a Wonderful Day & See you Tomorrow!

Studio Calico ~ February Highlights

Hello My Crafty Friends!  Today I am sharing a new page I made using the February Studio Calico Documenter Kit called Confidant.   This kit is bright and cheery!

Each kit comes with a white rubber month name, so I've decided to take each one and make a highlight page once that month is over.  Under the month, I stamped the 2017 from the New Year Kick Off Stamp set.  I love the bright orange and golds that came with the kit this time ~ they really pop off the page.   All of the cards & embellishments on this page are from the kit, except for the cardstock and small square black alphabet letters.

Have a Happy Day!

Explore ~ One Little Word February Prompts

Good Monday Morning!  Today I thought I'd share my February pages for the Ali Edwards One Little Word Workshop that I'm participating in this year.  As you may recall, my word is Explore and in January, the prompts dealt with defining your word & how you wanted to interact with your word in 2017.  In February, the Ali challenged us to pick a daily practice and record our progress. My word originated with this intent ~ "Exploring my life through photos and stories"... so for my daily practice I decided to take a daily photo & record why it was meaningful.   I really wanted to be intentional about taking a photo with meaning behind it so that it wasn't just about the action of taking the photo.

Before I begin the February section, I wanted to rewind back to January and share how I documented my actions for that month for each of my four goals.  The Action cards are digital cards that come with the OLW workshop.  I pulled up the card in Photoshop Elements and added my text.   My goals were to sign up for a Bible study at our church, make a decision about my last card making design team, using my new scrapbooking kits, and start some online classes.  I had a very productive month!

Next, I started working on my February pages.  Since the act of photography was my daily practice, I decided to go on Pinterest and look for some quotes with photos.  I love this one because my practice wasn't about getting the "perfect" photo this month, but more about "why" I took the photo.   It wasn't a complicated daily practice... it needed to be something do-able.  I may do this Daily Practice again this year at some point and make it a bit more challenging, but I'm happy with what I picked for this time.

I also found the next quote on Pinterest and thought it was a good one.  For documenting the daily practice page, I printed out the "Practice" card and the tracking card.  I added what my practice would be and my reasons why using Photoshop Elements and added the heart stamps using the One Little Word Icon stamp set & red ink.  As you can see, I did well taking a meaningful photo each day.  I did start a day late on February 2nd, but I ended up finishing up on March 1st, so I recorded it.

For the camera insert, I used a Taylored Expression die & a stamp from an older Ali Edwards set.

On my next page I share my action card and my reflections for the month of February.  I also printed out another picture quote from Pinterest for my filler card.

For the Make it Meaningful full page, I recorded on the computer why I took each photo.  I typed this up in Word and printed it on Kraft cardstock.  This is the first half of the month.

For my next two pages, I printed out each daily photo (4 on each 4x6 photo paper), and trimmed it with a 2" circle punch.  I made the photos small because I wanted them to fit on one 2-page layout in my album.  I added the numbers from a Stampin' Up! Calendar Number set & wrote a quick word or two on each photo.  As a border at the top and bottom, I stamped a phrase stamp from an older Ali Edwards photo stamp set.

So I could keep the photos all together for display, the last page of February is the second half of the Make it Meaningful document.

So there are my February pages for my OLW workshop.  Now I'm working on the March prompts which are vision boards for my word.  I'll probably share those soon.

Thanks for stopping by today & enjoy your day!
