9.5 Miles

I feel like singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" right now... LOVED the run this morning. I met a friend at 6. We didn't go our fastest and I kept forgetting to start my time, but we had a beautiful run. The weather was perfect! We took a trail that I've never taken and always wanted to. We were going to run to the High School, but changed our route to go down this horse trail between neighborhoods. I feel like we ran more and walked less than usual. At one point we got to a road they've closed off... it's a hill, but there's NO traffic. So we put in our headphones and took off, each at our own pace. I did pretty good. I definitely felt like Rocky when I got to the top of the hill. Good feeling! So, all in all... I loved my run this morning.

Of coarse the kids have decided to sleep in this morning... it's 8:45 and no one is up.

3.75 Miles

Went and walked with a friend this morning... loved it! I've missed chatting with her. We didn't run, but I didn't care. I'm planning a long run tomorrow, so this morning was nice. I won't document how fast we were going.  :o) Apparently we can't walk, chew gum, and talk at the same time.  :o)

John got after me for running in the dark the other morning. I know I shouldn't, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself that summer is over and I need to go later in the day. Oh well... it looks like my mornings are going to have to change.

3.75 miles ~ too much time to care.  :o)

6 Miles

My shins are on FIRE!! OUCH!! I've been doing a lot of thinking about doing a full marathon... crazy I know... but it's on my before-I-hit-40 bucket list. Well, that's only 2 years away. My old roommate Jolynn is doing the St. George Marathon next year... so why not me. I'm just wondering about these darn shins. I guess I know what I'll be getting for Christmas... NEW SHOES.  :o)

I think I did pretty good this morning... 11.20 minute mile. I even passed a group of cross country runners going up a hill. Of coarse they passed me when we got to the top because I started walking and they just kept going, and going, and going... that amazes me! Especially because the hill flattened out and then climbed another half mile. Oh well, I felt cool at the time.  :o)

On the last mile I ran into some friends out for a "speed run"... which means they run an 8 min mile or under in half mile spurts. I did ONE with them and thought I was going to die. Both these ladies are speed demons. I wish I had their stamina, but I'm proud of my 11.20 minute miles average.  :o)  It's better than what I started with a few years ago. After my short little sprint with them I did my little walk/run home and sprinted the hill to my house... feeling a little like Rocky when I got to the top. I felt good this morning.

3.8 Miles

Dang it!! Not quite 4... I started sneezing at the bottom of the big hill and almost peed my pants. I figured that it was time for me to head home.  :o)  I was just telling John the other day that my allergies didn't seem as bad this year... I think I spoke too soon! I could feel my nose itching before I even left the house. I'm sure the 20 mile an hour winds last night might have helped stir things up a bit. I'm just hoping for a little rain before Wednesday to settle things down. Again, not my fastest, but I kept it under a 12 minute mile (11.55).

7 Miles

I love Saturday runs... went 5.5 miles then went to meet a friend to go walking. I guess she overslept because after waiting 15 minutes, I took off again for another 1.5. Not real fast, but I kept it under a 12 minute mile (11.57...if you really care to know). I've been eating 1/2 a banana before I run and that seems to help on the energy and leg cramping. It felt good this morning!

5.25 Miles... Never mind - 6 Miles

For some reason that number just BUGS me. I really wanted to do 6 miles.

Just did .75 on the treadmill. I couldn't let .75 go unrun this morning. It was a good morning... I'm ready to go out again. So weird how that works. You couldn't pay me to go further or faster on Monday. Wednesday my legs were still hurting, so I slept in. This morning my stomach had butterflies as soon as I woke up... that's usually a good sign that my body actually wants to go... that it's anxious to get going. I kept about an 11.28 minute mile until the hill by my house...that changed it to 11.31, but not bad at all.  :o) Just did a calculation... with the treadmill running - back up to 11.28. WOOT WOOT!! Just need to keep that up.

3.8 Miles

What a horrible run! My lower legs are KILLING me! Shins, calves, ankles... EVERYTHING! I only went 3.8...I couldn't talk myself in to doing any more. I wish I had more to report... or at least something positive, but there's nothing. I ate way too much yesterday and I'm going to pay for it today. It's funny how things change between each run. Saturday I felt wonderful... today... not so much. Oh well... keep on, keeping on.

8.25 Miles

Ahhhh... that felt good. I wish every morning could feel like that. Nice weather...allergies in check (maybe it's because all the fires this year... there is no pollen)...enjoyable music...good pace (kept a 11:45 min. mile). NICE! The biggest bummer was as I was getting ready to run up the hill to my house... pumping myself up to do it as fast as I could, the mom of one of Gracen's friends came running out of the garage to visit. She said she didn't want to slow me down so she'd walk with me up the hill...oh, I was going to run it but oh well. Her daughter is going to a private school this year so we don't see much of them. It was good to see her, but I didn't do the hill. :oP  Now I'm off to go clean the church.

6 Miles

I knew before I started that my time this morning would not be good. I ran down the canyon with a friend and we ALWAYS slow down and talk when we get to the bottom. So, we made sure to check our time when we got to the bottom... 11:40 minute mile (for 3.5 miles)...because by the time I got home it went to a 12:52 minute mile.  :oP  Oh well. It was beautiful, chilly, and the conversation was, as always, highly entertaining.  :o)  I'm so grateful for good friends, mediocre lungs, and my short legs. :o)

Song of the Day- "Brokenhearted", Karmin... Come on, that's right, Uh cheerio!

5 Miles

Just not feeling it today. I was suppose to get up at 5:30 to run this morning, but I went to help clean the temple by our house and I didn't get home until after 1:00... 4 hours of sleep... NO THANKS! So I decided to go out after Carson went to pre-school. I just could NOT get into the groove of things. Monday was so nice... I could have kept going. Today, it was all I could do to just get the 5 miles in. I walked a lot and when I stopped for a potty break, I turned of my timer... I forgot to turn it back on.  AAARRRGGGHHH!! So... I'm going by the time I dropped Carson off at pre-school. Let's hope Friday goes better.

5.25 Miles

I almost didn't go out this morning. We've been sleeping with all the windows open lately and this morning at about 3:00 the wind really picked up. Slamming doors, banging the blinds against the windows. I had a hard time falling back to sleep. So, when my alarm went off at 5:30 I could still hear the wind whipping outside. I laid there for the longest time... then I remembered how much I pigged out yesterday and how badly I need to keep with my schedule... so I got up. I turned out the wind wasn't too bad. I ran my new route. I walked quite a bit, just wanting to get in 4 miles. I didn't check how fast I was going until I got to the top of the big hill... I was averaging a 12:25 min mile. Boo! So I decided I was going to run the last mile... then I decided to run a little further to the church... the just to the equestrian park... then back to the church... then I walked to the hill up to my house, and I ran up it as fast as I could go. I got home and was at 11:53 min mile. YEA!! I went inside and John was still in the shower, so I left and did a figure eight around the neighborhood. When I finished that I was at 11:43 min mile.  BIG YEA!! I just need to keep that up! I just might beat my time in this next race. Just got to stick to the schedule no matter what!

4.6 Miles

It smelled SO good this morning!! It had rained quite a bit yesterday (thank goodness... my allergies are in FULL swing), so this morning smelled HEAVENLY!! As I ran up the hill to get home, someone had just made some coffee... fresh coffee and rain... smelled like Grandma and Papa's in Albuquerque after one of those big storms. LOVED IT!

I did pretty good this morning! I kept an average of an 11 minute mile until I got to the monster hill. I checked my average again when I got home, 11:50... pretty good for all the walking I tried not to do.  :o) I did the same route as last time and tried to run a little further and walk a little less (or at least faster). I did run up half the monster hill... I just concentrated on breathing in the lovely air. :o)  Not much else to report... just that it was good to get out this morning.

4 Miles

Back on the road... again.  :o) John left to St. George last Thursday and got back last night. I don't know how single mom's do it. It was hard to get anything done... so excuses, excuses... I went out this morning. I did my regular route in reverse, so I could run the "good mile" (as my friend calls it)... I ran the first mile, walk/ran the next one, ran the "good mile", and then walk/ran home (I did run the beast of a hill up to the house... felt good!) I must admit, I had a good rest for the last 3 weeks, but it feels good to be up early and moving out on the road. I'm sad that allergy season is coming, but I'm hoping I'll still be able to run outside. We signed up for Snow Canyon in November, so I need to get going again. Maybe I'll beat my AF Canyon time.  :o)

Well, that's it...YEA ME!!
