Croquet, Anyone?

This is a 6" x 8" Raymar panel with my oils. I liked the placement of the objects; a mallet, a post and a ball...all out of an old and worn croquet set that we have in the garage. We have some interesting and rather old croquet balls...most of them do no belong in a set, but ones that have been collected over the years. I have more croquet balls than mallets, so I display all the balls in a big bowl on a coffee table in the den. More croquet balls to come tomorrow....If you are interested in this painting, please contact me. $100, unframed. Thanks, Kay

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope
Contemporary Abstract Painting
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This medium size canvas is a take-off of one smaller painting that I did three years ago. The first one that I painted was on a 18" x 18" canvas, and I had let my daughter Lindsay have it. She got attached to it, and doesn't want to give it up. I guess that is a good thing! Anyway, this painting is dry and ready to be shipped today to the gallery in Santa Fe.

I liked the movement and intense colors in this painting. The viewer might see skeins of yarn, or something else...I wanted the viewer's eye to move around on the canvas. I used a very large, flat brush on this one...it was fun to play with so many colors and blend them together. Thanks for viewing this blog! Have an artful day. Kay

American Art Collector...November Issue

This two page ad is in the upcoming American Art Collector! It is a great spread (put together by Laurie Pace) featuring the Artists of Texas show at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas. More on that show later.

I don't have a new painting to post today, but I think I am over the painting slump that I have been in for several days. I have two commissions I am working on, and about 2:00 yesterday afternoon I cut loose on the mixed media piece and things started working for me. I have to make another trip to the art store and get a few more photographs to work with, but at least I am not staring at a blank canvas. Forced creativity was getting the best of me. So I will be back in the studio today hoping to have a productive day! I hope yours is a good one.

City Sheep

City Sheep
Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting is still now finished. I was driving to the studio a last spring, and in the middle of downtown Dallas is Old City Park...a little village of old buildings and some animals. I was driving, minding my own business and this one sheep was just standing there looking at me...staring at me. I pulled over and took some pics of him. (All of the other goats and sheep ignored me.) So the title of this is City Sheep. This is a fun, wacky animal that was so much fun to paint. I look for him every time I drive to the studio. If you are interested in purchasing this contemporary oil painting, please contact me. Thanks for viewing my blog.
