The Envelope...Please!

The Club Scrap Cherry Blossoms Blog Hop is finally here! If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, click HERE.

I created this mini album featuring a double binding using the Cherry Blossoms Lite Art Envelopes.

From my perspective, this album has two front covers. And, like any good story, it doesn't have an end.

The envelopes that serve as album covers look great stamped with the Cherry Blossoms unmounted stamps.

The finished mini album size is 4.5x4.5x1.25".

Summary of steps to create the book:

1. Score and fold 18 Cherry Blossoms Art Envelopes. Pierce stitching holes with a paper piercing tool and cork board or stitching cradle.

2. Insert a 4x4" piece of cover weight paper into the envelope areas/folds that serve as front and back covers to provide extra stability.

3. Kettle stitch nine folded envelopes together with a needle and waxed linen thread. Slide stabilizing strips beneath the long stitches on the outside of the spine. Knot and cut the thread.

4. Pierce holes into the crease adjacent to the ninth stitched envelope.

5. Stitch the nine remaining pages onto the other side of the book.

6. Tuck in thread tails or cover with cutaparts or photographs.

7. Slide memorabilia and photos into the envelopes for safekeeping.

8. Add photos, Cherry Blossoms Cutaparts, and other goodies to the inside pages and enjoy!

The Cherry Blossoms envelopes are so pretty that I couldn't keep myself from taking tons of photos of my little book!

Shades Of Winter Pocket Book

Welcome to my stop on the Club Scrap Shades Of Winter Blog Hop.

This pocket book project is fun to put together with the beautiful Shades Of Winter collection.

The finished book size measures 5-3/4 x 8". The inside pocket pages measure 5-1/2 x 8" including the 1/2" flap that gets adhered to the accordion binding.

Here are some basic assembly steps"

1. Adhere mat board covers and spine pieces to the outside cover wrap with a foam brush and Bookbinding Glue.

2. Adhere the inside cover wrap.

3. Bend and fold the binding areas, and add decorative brads.

4. Create and adhere an accordion spine to the front and back covers.

5. Cut and score inside pocket pages.

6. Fold and adhere pocket page flaps.

I made five inside pocket pages for my book.

7. Make a notch on the top edge of each page with a 2" circle punch.

8. Adhere pages to the accordion binding.

9. Pierce holes through the outside covers and accordion.

10. Loop waxed linen through the holes and tie to close.

11. Decorate the outside cover.

12. Fill pocket pages with coordinating inserts and embellish with photos and rubber stamped images.

Botanical Canvas Album

Welcome to my stop on the Club Scrap Botanicals Blog Hop.

The Botanicals Kit inspired me to put together this mini album featuring a painted canvas for the front and back covers.

The inside pages are a combination of Botanicals Printed and Plain Papers kettle stitched together.

The canvases and inside pages are 6x6".

The inside pages:

Here are the ten inside pages stitched with brown waxed linen thread.

The inside pages were rubber stamped prior to stitching. I just think it's easier.

Decorate the outside covers with acrylic paint, the Branch Masking Stencil and colored mists.

Botanicals Lite Branch Masking Stencil.

Botanicals Wood Veneer Birds with acrylic paint added.

Rubber Stamped words from the Botanicals Borders & Backgrounds Stamp sheet

Actually after decorating the canvases, I could have stopped there! These would have looked just fine on my walls, but I still thought it was fun to add the inside pages.

Putting the pages and canvases together . . .

Adhere the stitched pages to the canvas covers with CS Bookbinding Glue.

I could have stopped right there. But you know me!

Attach four decorative metal feet to the bottom four canvas corners with bookbinding glue. (Tricia dropped these off at my office a while back knowing I'd find a good home for them.)

To prevent the inside pages from sagging down between the canvases, I added two wooden dowels as a support.

 .
The adorable book will make the perfect home for photos from my daughter's twelfth birthday party.

Next on the Botanicals hop is the lovely and talented Julie at Cape Cod Scrapper. See you there!
