At The Chapel

Name: At The Chapel
Location: Burton, UK
Design: Ahmed Sidki & Catherine Butler

A former 17th century congregation church found new life as a cafe, bakery, wine shop, and restaurant.  Keeping the original architectural details intact, the minimalist and warm interior showcases the goods and space perfectly.

Barcelona Atlanta

Name: Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant
Location: Atlanta, GA
Designer: Square Feet Studio

Barcelona, located in Atlanta is easily one of my favorite  examples of modern and rustic mixed. With floor to ceiling wood-clad walls, graphic artwork, industrial fixtures and metal details, you simply cannot go wrong. Sticking to a minimal color palate of browns, blacks and whites allows for the space to feel harmonious and allows the materials to shine. I can't wait to make a stop in the next time i'm in Atlanta.

Brooklyn Winery

Name: Brooklyn Winery
Location: Brooklyn
Designer: WRK Design

I need to acknowledge how excited I am that Brooklyn now has a winery. The space is a perfect mix of reclaimed, worn, warm, and inviting. The wood wainscoting, painted brick and industrial pendants add a rich warmth to the space and the use of long, community style tables follows through with the social and community feel of the space. I love the verticality created with the reclaimed, stacked wood wall and long tables. I also adore the large, re-purposed outdoor space, perfect for a warm summer night. All materials used in the space were completely reclaimed and repurposed. It is always great to see designers get creative with materials and the polished, finish space of Brooklyn Winery speaks to the successful use of those creative endeavors .

RN74

Name: RN74
Location: San Francisco, CA
Designer: AvroKO

Named after the Route National 74, which runs through the 'Burgundy wine region of France' this San Francisco restaurant (opened in 2009) was styled after a french train station. The most direct nod to this is the vintage arrival/departure board, which features the nightly wine selection and prices.
Having watched this space get built from the ground up, I appreciate the design knowing its location and proximity to the new (& former) Transbay Terminal. The urban simplicity and almost rustic elegance of the space allows the guest to experience a wonderful meal in an environment that truly represents the diversity of the Burgundy area.

Scala Vinoteca

Name: Scala Vinoteca
Location: Athens, Greece
Designer:Andreas Kurkulas & Maria Kokkinou

We love this space because of its minimalist, modern vibe and strong character. A nod to the vineyard and wine-making process is apparent through the tractor seat bar stools, use of metal throughout the space and the amount of natural wood. It feels like a space you could easily spend hours with friends at.
