When you are satisfied with the color mix, transfer in small lidded containers and you are ready to use your own 'Make it yourself Rust Pastes' !!
I made these pastes about two weeks back and these are in perfect consistency still in their small containers.
To try the Rust pastes my project I started like this......................
Handmade flowers made with thick card stock, gessoed and arranged on the background with some resin leaves .....background with DIY Rust Pastes...............
Flowers colored with Tinted metallic Caribbean Teal and Blue waltz and textures highlighted with Tawny Glint and Golden Glaze
some glitter and rhinestones added..........

I love the contrast of Metallic paints and the rust pastes ,  hope you like this project and try and experiment with your supplies  !!

'Discover' .......a Collage/Assemblage Canvas

Hello Friends

Today I am sharing a project using the Little Birdie's newly launched Mixed Media Paste.

I hope you'll get inspired by my project using the Mixed Media paste.........a Collage/Assemblage work titled 'Discover' on a 8"x8" Canvas Board.......

I gave my canvas an uneven coat of Mixed media paste with a credit card. It primed the canvas for further layers and also created gorgeous texture. After it dried , I created more texture with various stencils and this time used the Mixed Media paste as a modelling paste.......
I created more texture by dry brushing with Mixed media paste after the stenciled surface dried .....

I have used only paper die cut Gears using a spellbinder die set  and resin embellishments made using silicon molds and resin to create the composition.

The sentiment Discover is a chipboard cutout. The stars, gears ,screws and bolts are all made of resin and silicon molds and the metal effect is using the acrylic metallic paints only. The die cuts have been layered where ever needed.

All the embellishments and die cuts have been primed with Mixed media paste and then colored. I covered the whole panel with Caribbean Teal tinted metallic paint and then sprayed with alcohol splash in Gold Rush, Mocha and Marigold, Sprayed with Alcohol blending solution to make the colors move.
all embellishments , die cuts etc have got a coat of Mixed media paste and then coated with antique gold acrylic color and teal and green metallic paints........

small glass beads added with silicon glue ..........the only piece of Real metal on this canvas is the small piece of metal chain, rest all is paints and alcohol splash to give a beautiful rust and metal effect........

Pure Metal Mica Magic with ColourArte

Hi Friends

I had a post on the ColourArte Blog using Vivid Ultra Metallics and Bronze Medallion Primary Elements Art Pigments ........

I started with creating texture on the canvas panel using some chipboard and stencils and modeling paste,  then added a piece of plastic mesh and some beads in different shapes and covered all with white gesso

the first layer is Vivid Ultra metallics in African Jade

then Teal Zircon…..

added Cherry Sorbet Primary elements ……..

allow to dry between layers of colors….. I added Blue bayou and Black china and misted.

For the focal point I created a heart shape out of air dry clay and stamped with a text stamp…

I covered the heart and the sentiment with Wine & Roses, Silks Acrylic Glaze which is a beautiful deep red-lilac wine in a violet-red pearl. dry brushed with Bronze Medallion, Metallic Pure Mica Minerals (PM-013) to highlight the texture and create  the melt metal effect on canvas.

Please visit the ColourArte blog for more pictures and tutorial.

Live the life you have Imagined ..........

Hello friends
Today I am sharing a mixed media canvas with you using the Color Splash and Gold Alcohol Splash sprays by Itsy Bitsy .

I really struggled with this one and tried many a times to work on this canvas. I will show you some picturess of my trials and failures with this one...... First time I created some texture on the background and added some random found objects like a plastic spoon, electronic parts, a plastic lid, dried paint brush and a broken plug with silicon glue and some metallic acrylic paint.......I even tore something out from the center of the composition (don't even remember what it was :) and it lied neglected for want of ideas ......

Then after few weeks I picked it again and tried some Alcohol Splash colors and Itsy Bitsy flowers and a bird bought from Itsy Bitsy long time ago.........I succeeded in creating MUD on the background :(

Can this be salvaged??? Very unhappy with myself........so it went back in the corner teasing me time and again ...........

well........after few days I tried dry brushing with white Gesso on all the flowers, playing with a sentiment ......but.....even more unhappy with the results....and this time I seriously thought of throwing it in the bin......... Well........to cut a long story short, am glad I did not give up :) while doing another canvas, I added Gesso randomly to the background and sprayed with Color Splash inks in Yellow, Blue, Pink and Green all over the canvas.......changed the composition ( if you see, the bird now sits in a different place perched on an ice cream stick and the canvas is turned so that the flowers are in a horizontal arrangement)........let the inks dry completely and then added four to five layers of dry brushing with white gesso with drying in between to bring out the textures ...... Am sure happy that I did not give up, the outcome is even more beautiful than anything I had thought when I started it!

So today no step -by-step cause it did not happen that way but a simple tale of 'Never to give up' God has more in store for you than you can ever Imagine... Thank you so much for your visit today, I truly appreciate it !!
