GETTING CREATIVE WITH SPELLBINDER DIES-PART 1

Dies are the most versatile tool for card making. It gives more professional look to your cards. There are lots n lots of designs are available in market,so you may get confused what to buy and what not to.If you are in your beginning stage of collecting dies, anything is fine.Once you got handful, you must be careful in selecting your dies, because lots of designs are repeated with slight difference,so that you don't waste your money on similar designs. And other thing you can do is,have a second look at your dies.Other than just cutting n using as it is,if you give a second thought n think for a while you can achieve different results with your dies, interestingly they will look like the other dies available in market:).In this case you will give 100% of your money you paid, satisfaction n most importantly you don't have to waste the money in same type of dies and can buy different ones:).So in this series of tutorial i am going to show how you can use your dies in different ways,so keep watching.

First is using your spellbinders dies(even other dies)for making borders.Have you ever wondered what to do with the first two(smallest)dies you get in the nestabilities?we mostly use the last two biggest size dies and other remains unused. Here is the solution, use the 1st or 2nd size dies for making borders, just cut the dies as it is,and then cut them in to two equal half, apply glue for half of the part and stick it to the panel.

Next is,using your spellbinder die to cut only one end.Doesn't this looks like PTI'S half n half dies?,i actually wanted to buy those, since they where quite expensive i was thinking whether to buy or not. Then blinked a bulb in my mind,n i have tried it with spellbinder dies, since its hallow in the center it so easy to do this.
This is how you should place your card stock in the die, your paper should be at least 3/4" less than the die size,so that the sides don't get cut.

Here is the end result,i have tried with different dies.Isn't it fabulous,i love spellbinder dies, they were so versatile.Lots more idea will be posted in future with these amazing size, keep watching n do leave your feed backs:).

GETTING CREATIVE WITH PATTERN PAPER SCRAPS.

I bet almost all the crafters are miser when it comes to pattern papers, its same with me.I save even a tiniest paper(i mean it) and if you have some small punches n dies you will never be disappointed for hoarding those scraps. Here is my first tutorial on how to use your scraps in a innovative way.

This is all you need..
  • Pattern paper scraps
  • Distress inks and blending tool
  • Circle dies or punches
  • Card stock for base&
  • Glue

I have used first 2 sizes of spellbinders plain circle dies for this, you can even use some medium size punches if you dont have the dies.

First cut all the papers in 2 to 3 different size.Distress them individually.

Glue all the pieces individually n start sticking one by one over lapping each other.Since it is in circle shape go ousite the card stock in the corners.Stick in the same style for whole of the card stock, remeber the card stock should not be seen any where.

Once you finish it off, allow to dry for some time and trim the excess in the outer edge. You can either stop with this step and use as it is.Or try the next step to give even more finishing.

I have embossed it with distressed stripes embossing folder, this will help you to merge all the papers well and give as finished look as a single paper.

Tips:
  • Use only 2 to 3 size of circles, not more than that.
  • Stick it in a balanced way with alternate light n dark color n sizes.
  • Don't not use a very intricate design embossing folder or a simple one,the former will not allow the pattern paper designs to show off,the later will not be seen at all.Use a medium one.
