Saturday, June 28, 2008 @ living on adrenaline high
the past 5 days were simply fun fun fun! i never regretted going for it and ending my work early. it was a worthy trade-off: 5 days of stressful work with 5 days of fun laughter peace and joy!
scamp was an experience no doubt. something that a freshie would want to experience before he or she formally enters university life. made lots of new friends with fellow freshies alike and seniors!
things lost: - sleep (5 hrs in day 1, 4 hrs in day 2, 3 hrs in day 3 and 0 in day 4) - 5 days of hard earned pay (approx $318.75 minimum) - my sanity - my voice - some of my shirts (lost them in school.. lol)
things gained: - a sexy tanline (after a day at the beach) - a burning red hot skin - injury to my right heel (i jumped down from 6 flights of stairs and injured my right heel as a result. went to see the sinseh and he diagnosed that i might have a hairline fracture on my heel X_X shall see how it goes) - loads and loads of fun! - my OG and all my OGmates! - of course, an experience that cannot be penned down!!
the experience was great. going clubbing with my OGmates, the amazing race, and all the other stupid games that we played where we got ourselves wet and dirty. something that definitely cannot be felt once we enter uni as undergrads and immerse ourselves in mountains of books and notes.
and not to forget all the late-night heart to heart talk.
we played secret pal for freshies. my SP was great. fun loving and loves to talk cock just like me. we got along very well together at underwater world while having our romantic dinner at the conveyor belt.. lol
i think i shall stop here. MAFIA ROCKS! HIP HIP HURRAY!
ended my work last friday and the feeling was really shiok! gave myself to a good treat.. watched 2 movies in 2 days. 1st was getsmart with nelson. not a bad movie, was really freaking lame.. esp maxwell smart..
Siegfried: How do I know you're not from CONTROL? Maxwell Smart: If I were from CONTROL, you'd already be dead. Siegfried: If you were from CONTROL, YOU'D already be dead. Maxwell Smart: Neither of us is dead, so I'm obviously not from CONTROL. [long pause] Shtarker: That actually makes sense.
and went to watch kungfu panda after work with chiajin and anthony. it's a show that was worth the money. finally a good show that i have watched recently. the animation and the storyline was good. i really enjoyed the part where po and master shifu were fighting for the buns with their kungfu.. lol.
and jack black is the greatest panda in the world!
woot!
anyway, will be away for 5 days.. going for orientation camp tmr! cant wait.. looking forward to it (:
this entry is pretty outdated, but i hafta jot this down. one of the most memorable days in my term in SMRT as a HR personnel.
i believe many of you heard that my company has hired china drivers, but how many of you have heard that my company has sent china drivers back to china on the day they were dismissed?
it's scary. i shall not go onto the details on why they were dismissed. but when my manager told them the news they broke down. they were crying like there would be no tmr; it was understandable. i really emphathise with them and their situation: suddenly your ricebowl was gone. your dream to work hard in singapore and send back your hard earned cash to your family is gone. and the next moment you will be at the airport and taking the flight back to your hometown with nothing left with you. it's dramatic and drastic.
i was kinda caught in the drama as i was trying to calm down the 2 bus drivers who was dismissed but it didnt seem to work. they were kneeling down and banging their heads on the floor to plead us to give them a 2nd chance. as much as the management would want to, i think the decision is a justified one considering what they have commited: assault in public wearing uniform.
the 2 workers left the airport for their flight home at around 840pm. it had been a emotional rollercoaster, at least for me; for someone who has watched the workers go for their english lessons and driving lessons and finally passed out from the training to become a full-fledged bus driver, this is something that was affecting me pretty much for that day.
but as my manager says it, it's all part of HR - termination and dismissal cases. haish..
ok to be specific it's not really geylang. it's at aljunied area. a friend of mine asked me out for dinner and also for some business opportunities. said that i can continue to earn big bucks even when i am in uni. sounds too good to be true? but i just accepted his invitation and see it for myself anyway.
he happened to be working for this health company selling chinese health supplements and also western products. sounds cool. then he started talking to me about all the job prospects and everything and i was astounded. then he introed me to his friend who started talking about how the company works and everything.
then i got completely turned off: one gains commissions when he intros new friends into the company and when those he has introduced in turn introduces more people in the company.
sounds familiar eh?
MLM.
his friends started to pressurise me to fill up the application form from like.. 9 to 10.30pm? if i didn tell them that i had to leave as my house was far away (sembawang), i'd prob still be there at midnight.
goodness.
i am not saying that MLM is illegal. i am just not a believer of it. quick and lucrative money? save it. i'd rather treasure hard0-earned cash.
Saturday, June 14, 2008 @ i have a splitting headache
and blogging's isnt gonna help me relieve my pain, but still i wanna blog this down.
5 days to end of work!!!!
anyway, this week hasnt been good at all, except for all the lunches and dinners with friends that brightened up my day. work was BLEH, with lots of last-minute reports to churn out, and as usual, more bombs which i have to detonate safely.
so here's a report of what movies i have not watched:
1) ironman 2) indiana jones 3) prince caspian 4) sex and the city 5) incredible hulk 6) kungfu panda 7) shaolin shojo 8) getsmart
and the list is non exhaustive
damn..
anyway.. 2 army personnels passed away this week. may them RIP, dont wish to comment more here.. just in case.
Sunday, June 08, 2008 @ i am not in love.. but this song rocks!
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus » Your Guardian Angel Lyrics
When I see your smile Tears run down my face I can't replace And now that I'm strong I have figured out How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one
I will never let you fall I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all Even if saving you sends me to heaven
It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Seasons are changing And waves are crashing And stars are falling all for us Days grow longer and nights grow shorter I can show you I'll be the one
I will never let you fall (let you fall) I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all (through it all) Even if saving you sends me to heaven
Cuz you're my, you're my, my, my true love, my whole heart Please don't throw that away Cuz I'm here for you Please don't walk away and Please tell me you'll stay woah, stay woah
Use me as you will Pull my strings just for a thrill And I know I'll be okay Though my skies are turning gray
I will never let you fall I'll stand up with you forever I'll be there for you through it all Even if saving you sends me to heaven
Wednesday, June 04, 2008 @ I DONT WANT TO GO TO WORK
and i have started to take out my chem notes to revise. i dont care if people say i am kiasu or anything. i dont want to end up listening to alien language when i step into the lecture hall in the future. believe me, 2.5 years of non-studying is no joke.
and i just had a session of "talking with the aliens". i need my knowledge back!
Tuesday, June 03, 2008 @ where's my malaysian durians?!?
desaru trip was quite an experience. and a getaway for me from all the hectic workload. although it was just a short 2d1n trip, it came at the right time.
highlight of day 1: fruit farm! i managed to go up close to the veggies that i only managed to see at the markets and supermarts. never did i know that mangosteens go on trees -.- oh no i am a suagu. super suagu in fact. let the photos do the talking!
the fruit farm.. selamat datang malaysia!
see? mangosteens go on trees
this is known as breadfruit. apparently it provides a good source to carbo and malays have used it to substitute potatoes in curry. the next alternative to rice?
spot the durian..
i want tongkat ali..
the brinjal
soursop. can you see it?
we went to check in at a beach resort. the facilities sucked. the heater wasnt working. but what hte heck, it was only for 2d1n. spent my dinner at some island eating good seafood :) and while the rest went to watch fireflies at night, our family decided to head back to the hotel and chill. played mahjong while watching channel U. yes.. they have channel u in the hotel. and apparently alot of malaysians watch sg channels.. cool.
a shot that i took of the beach early in the morning. i particularly like this photo. the sea is so clear and blue and you can see the sun's rays.
highlight of day 2: alligator farm. apparently they have alot of alligators. this is their so-called famous 135-yr-old alligator. apparently it seems like a fossil. lol
headed back to SG and reached mainlain at around 4. rushed and went for the co concert in the end. the concert was below expectations seriously. i expected better from the school that won honours for 2 consecutive syfs. but good job to songsim. and happy birthday to you if you see it.
