Slimline Cloudy Stencils (Lawn Fawn inspiration week)

 Hi there!

Welcome to the March inspiration week! Today is our showcase of the Slimline Cloudy Stencils. I decided to do a night-time scene, and bring back the dinosaurs:

Slimline Cloudy Stencils (Lawn Fawn inspiration week!)

I started out with a sheet of navy blue cardstock, and used white ink and the Slimline Cloudy Stencils to create the sky. It's so dramatic! After that, I layered images from Rawrsome, Ahoy Matey, and Life is Good to create the scene.

I hope you like it! There's a lot more to see on the Lawn Fawn blog today - click!

Going to the beach blog hop and free digi!

If you follow me on instagram, or even on the blog, you know that I've developed a little love for doodling.  On the side, I've started to learn adobe illustrator so that I could have nice, stamp-like perfect images of my drawings.

Since our family is getting ready for the beach, I drew a beach girl and asked some of my favorite crafty friends to help me show her off:

Learning illustrator... and a free digi stamp for you!

Once I decided on her size and printed her out, I paired her with some beachy lawn fawn stamps, and got to coloring.

I love her princess-leia buns and the strawberries on her suit!

And, just to show what else you could do with a digi stamp, I printed off a larger version and decided to test her out as a blond:

A little more of a pop-art feel to this one! I paired her with the scripty hello die from lawn fawn and sponged purple ink to cover the background. Tip: print her out a 2nd time on thin computer paper, cut her out and paint the back of her head with a 2-way glue pen. When the adhesive dries, you have a mask to use for this kind of treatment.

It's hard to tell, but the purple panel is popped up on foam squares - even the little bits inside the scripty die-cut letters.

I hope you like her! Since I'm just growing my skills, I'm offering her as a free digi.

You can download the JPEG or the PNG versions.

Follow the links to whichever format suits you, then right click and save it to your computer.

If you decide to download and use her, will you leave me a comment?  If even a handful of you like the idea, I'd love to offer a just-for-fun digi here and there.

Special thanks to Deasy for formatting the file for me into the download-friendly versions!

life's a beach...party!

It's always so much fun for me to work with Marlyn (Montreal Confections.)  Last year, we did a woodland party for her daughter's 11th birthday (click!) and this year, Jessika had the most beautiful day for her beach party.

It all started with an invitation.

We chose our colors, I pulled lawn fawn papers and colored crabs and sandcastles aplenty.

I used the new lawn fawn set, "life is good" for all of the paper decorations, and no black outlines on any of the stamped images.

There's a video on the lawn fawn blog today that shows how I colored my images by stamping them first in a very light color. I wanted the entire party to look airy and... beachy!

The new louie's abcs and party banners were so perfect for creating the focal point of the entire table.

ok. who am I kidding? the focal point of the table is always the cake,

with the bright flip flops on top.

I can't wait to learn how to make these waves.

I love that crab topper!

I found an amazing tutorial on Studio DIY for making these "beach balls."  She put hers on a garland, I put mine in a watery-blue dish. I love them.

I only made a few food labels, and mostly just to pull the same darker blue outline that you saw on the banner to the front of the table.

I didn't properly blend the waves on purpose. promise.  I thought it looked more interesting, like choppy waves.

For the favor bags, I cut a silhouette beach bag shape and attached simple tags.

I hope you've enjoyed the glimpse into our beach party! It was so much fun to create!

life is good! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

Are you loving the new lawn fawn release so far?  Today, we're putting you in a beachy state of mind (it has to be a state of mind, because the temperatures haven't quite warmed up in Montreal yet.)

life is good! {lawn fawn inspiration week}

I absolutely love this set! I couldn't pass up using that cute crab, but the sandcastle and other elements are perfect for summer. I see a beach-themed lawn fawn party in my future.

I used the say cheese lawn cut, and built a snapshot of summer within its frame.  Because, isn't that what vacations are really for? making people at home feel jealous with amazing pictures? ha.

The crab in the hammock is my fave.
