My baby is ....

.... old enough to vote!!  Not quite sure where all those years have gone, but my daughter turned 18 over the summer.  She's gone back to school today, last first day of school ever.  This time last year, as we waved her off, my son said, faux-tearfully, "they grow up so fast".  This year, he said "she's getting so big"!  What a comedian!!

Here's the card I made for her:

I went for a sort of urban/street style, had thought I had some grungy red brick paper somewhere but never unearthed it, so I went for this distressed wood instead.  I like the colour.

I'm entering this into the following challenges: Kenny K's Krafty Krew and Party Time Tuesdays both have "Anything Goes", My Time to Craft ("Milestone Birthdays"), Passion for Promarkers ("Needles + Pins") and Sentimental Sundays ("Stitching").

I used one of the Kenny K images and coloured it with Pro Markers.  My daughter dresses in this kind of style, and she loved the baseball cap!  Here's a close-up:

Ahem, forget that I ....

.... mentioned anything to do with resolving to create more in my last post.  Flippin' kiss of death, that was!!!

It's been a loooooooong, dreary January - can't believe we've only done three weeks back at school - feels like twice that.  Oh well, only two more until half term!!  We've got quite a few family and friend birthdays in February, so I hauled myself up from hiberation on the couch and made this for a little pal:

I'm entering this into the following challenges: Fussy and Fancy Friday ("Polka Dots"), Creative Card Crew ("Seeing Red"), My Time to Craft ("Favourite Embellishment" - mine is stitching and ribbon), Passion for Promarkers ("Recycle Something" - the ribbon is from a box of chocolates), ABC Challenge ("Happy Birthday"), Basic Grey Challenges ("Favourite Things" - mine are papers and stitching), Creative Inspirations and Simon Says Stamp both have "Anything Goes" challenges and Truly Scrumptious ("Something Forgotten" - I dug out the Sugar Nellie stamp).

Here's a close-up of the image and the name banner:

Well that's that ....

.... for another year!!  Can you believe it's 2012 already?!!  I hope you have all been having a happy and peaceful Christmas time, are rested, relaxing and raring to go this New Year!

I am a bit shame-faced that I haven't posted since the 15th of December - I did make a few more Christmas gift bags, and a card for a 5 year old whose birthday is so perilously close to Christmas that this is the first time I've actually got it together enough to make him a birthday card!!!  I did intend to post those projects whilst it was still December, but didn't, and now it's January there's no point really!

So, on with the new - remember that nephew's birthday card I've been mentioning in every post for the last month and a half?  I .... em .... made it .... yesterday!!!  Here it is:

I'm entering this into the following challenges: Passion for Promarkers ("Celebrations"), and Kenny K Krafty Girlz, Basic Grey Challenges, Crafts and Me, Simon Says Stamp, Stampin' for the Weekend and Creative Inspirations, who all have "Anything Goes" challenges.

The aforementioned nephew is a drummer in a heavy-metal band, so this Kenny K image couldn't have been more perfect.  I coloured it with pro-markers for a strong and cartoon-like effect - here's a closer look:

I continued the metal theme with lots of copper embossing powder and also with the Spellbinders gears and sprockets.  I got this set back in the NEC in early November as part of an early birthday present from my stepmother, but had to hand it over to her to add to the rest of the gift and wait till my birthday to get it for real!  I cut the gears out of plain old cardboard, but "metalised" them using some fab metallic stuff that you just rub on with your finger.  Here's a side-shot of the dimension and all:

Colouring Medium: Pro-markers
Papers: Basic Grey "Skate Shoppe"
Other: Doodlebug brads, Stampendous Copper e.p., Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets, metallic rub-on
Wishing you all a wonderful 2012 - here's to lots more crafting (a definite resolution on my part, anyway!!!).

A monkey card ....

.... for a little monkey!!  My friend's daughter has just turned 2 - she is obsessed with monkeys, of all things -her present is a book my son loved when he was that age - "Monkey Puzzle" by the authors of The Gruffalo - and of course, I had to incorporate monkeys into her card too.  Here's what I made:

Update 24th Aug: This card was picked as a Top 3 on Crafts and Me - thank you, Rose!

I'm entering this into the following challenges: A Spoon Full of Sugar ("Happy Birthday"), Passion for ProMarkers ("Divas with Glam + Glitter" - hope my little diva qualifies!), Crafts and Me ("Make it Count") and Creative Inspirations ("Buttons and Stitching").

My starting point was the BG Oliver paper, how perfect for this!!  I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum, toddler health and safety and all that - those buttons are sewn on very securely!!  I coloured the cute image using pro-markers and stickled her crown and the flames of the candles.  Here's a closer look:

I made a little banner for her name and drew and coloured a larger monkey which hangs off the banner string too.  Let's hope the little monkey doesn't rip it all off!!  Here's a closer pic and also a side-shot of the banner, showing it hanging free:

Papers: Basic Grey "Oliver"

Colouring is fun ....

.... but only when you can find the ones you want!!  I posted about my super new organised pro-markers in my last post.  It was so easy to find the ones I needed when I was making my daughter's birthday card.  She'll be 16 soon (eeeek - how did that happen?!!!).  Here's my card:

I used the sketch from this week's Sugar Bowl and there is also a blue theme, which I've covered!  I'm also entering it into Passion for ProMarkers (distressing), Crafty Creations (happy or sweet),  Papertake Weekly (cutie patootie) and Crafty Angels (shabby chic. Can shabby be bright colours - I'm not sure?).

I used my scrumptious new Cosmo Cricket papers that I got last week.  I cobbled the sentiment together on Word, using two different fonts and some text boxes to squeeze it all together and I'm really pleased with the result.

I bought the stamp quite a while ago, with my daughter in mind, she loves all things manga. And since her hair is dyed red at the moment I decided to colour the image's hair red too (although dd's is not quite as red at this!!).  Here's a close-up:

Recipe:
Papers: Cosmo Cricket "Material Girl"
Stamp: Sugar Nellie "Manga Girl #2"
Colouring Medium: Letraset ProMarkers
Fonts: OldGateLaneOutline and Dear Joe 4
Other: Distress Inks, Nestabilities Label 1, stickles, needle + thread
