Finding Bigfoot

My kids love the show Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet. For some reason it doesn't scare them. They get mad if we try to change to change the channel while the show is on! For Christmas my mom made Indiana a "Bigfoot Hunting Kit." I did not realize how much use that kit would get! Yesterday Devin was out working on his truck and the kids were playing outside. I looked out the window and saw they had taken their hunting kit outside and were looking for bigfoot. Indy said she wanted it to be dark so her flashlight would work better. I think it's pretty funny that they love to look for him!

Indy has chocolate all over her face. She's holding her Bigfoot Hunting Guide and walky-talky.

Porter has the hatchet to cut any debris in their way and has his flashlight and hardhat too. They are prepared!

Christmas

DSC00026DSC00029DSC00031DSC00037DSC00035DSC00042DSC00034DSC00038DSC00043DSC00044

I have to say, I am so happy Christmas is over!  Christmas is my favorite time of year and I usually wish it could be a 2 or 3 month celebration, but this year was crazy and I was ready for it to be done.  I usually put my Christmas tree and decorations up the day of Thanksgiving, but this year we were preparing to move into a new house at anytime. I didn’t want to put up our Christmas stuff, then have to take it all down just to put it up again.  We also went to AZ for a week to do shopping in December.  I just felt like the days before Christmas flew by so fast, so I was really busy trying to finish up making some presents, wrapping them, and getting together a bunch of stuff to donate and wrap for a Relief Society project we did.  We also went to Las Cruces for the Friday before Christmas to spend time with my family.  It was just a crazy time of year!  Next year we are planning on just staying home all of December and not going anywhere.  We’ll see though.  Hope your holidays were fun and wonderful!

Girls, girls, girls!!!

I know a lot of you are on facebook, so you already know this, but just in case there is someone that only reads our blog and doesn't have facebook, I have some exciting news. We found out a week and a half ago that we are having another GIRL! I am seriously so excited! I have a ton of girl clothes saved from when Indy was little that I just couldn't give away because they were so cute. I keep getting them out and looking at them just anticipating the day when this little girl arrives and I can doll her up. Devin is happy, but he was really hoping for another boy. He and Porter have so much fun together. Indy won't go anywhere with Devin unless I go too. She's my little side-kick and Porter is Devin's. Also, Porter only has girl cousins, so Devin says he needs another boy to play with. My sister-in-law, Janae, is pregnant too and due just 4 days after me. She hasn't been able to find out what she is having yet, but we are crossing our fingers for a boy! The odds are against her since she has 3 girls already, but miracles happen! Ha ha!

Farm Boy

Porter is ALL BOY and LOVES the farm and anything to do with the farm, especially tractors and trucks. Or as he says them "tactor" and "tuck". He wants to go to the farm everyday with Devin and gets upset when he gets left behind at home. I've gone to the farm with Devin & the kids a few times and Porter will sit on a tractor forever. He gets mad when it's time to go and he has to get off. Yesterday they had a Combine at the farm and Porter got to ride it for a while. He was in heaven! He kept yelling "Combine! Combine!" I couldn't believe that he was saying it right. When he does get to go to the farm he won't wear any shoes other than his work boots that we got him. He seriously loves his boots!

(sorry the quality of these photos is terrible, I forgot my camera and had to use the one on my phone)

Below is a picture of Devin with Porter and one of his other loves, motos. Porter will hear a moto (dirt bike or 4-wheeler) and goes crazy yelling "moto! moto!" He is not afraid of them at all and could ride one all day. He knows how to push the gas on 4-wheelers and likes to "drive". I think we have a future Devin on our hands.

Mickey & Minnie

Porter & Indy dressed as Mickey & Minnie Mouse for Halloween this year.  Indy already had a Minnie dress from her birthday, so her costume was done.  For Porter I just had him wear a pear of Indy’s old black leggings and a long sleeve black shirt.  I then bought some fabric and made him his red shorts then sewed on some buttons.  It was an easy Halloween for me.  I decorated our car for the trunk-or-treat as a monster.  I got the idea off of Pinterest.

The teeth were made from posterboard, the red tongue was leftover fabric from Porter’s shorts.  I should have used markers to make the eyes because you can’t really see them, but unfortunately I don’t have any markers!  With having two little ones in our home I only allow crayons because Magic Erasers clean them up pretty well.

Adult Halloween Party

This was our first year going to the Dublan “Young Marrieds” Halloween party.  It was fun!  We took a hay ride and drank apple cider, ate cheesy potato soup and CafĂ© Rio style taco salads.  Here are some pictures of our costumes.

My tiny dancer

Last week Indy started dance class in Colonia Juarez with Miss BJ. She is loving it! She goes once a week. She is learning ballet and tap. It is so much fun to see her try and copy what her teacher does. I think she does pretty well! The room they dance in has two large mirrors and Indy loves to watch herself dance. For the entire hour she is at dance class she is smiling ear to ear. I'm so happy she finally has something different to do down here. Both her and I will be sad once dance is over in December.

Girls Weekend

Last weekend Indy & I went to El Paso. My sister-in-law and her family had gone too. I had so much fun just hanging out with Indy. We went shopping, out to eat, took a drive to Las Cruces to visit an old friend and to see my mom. We went to the theater to see The Lion King in 3D and it was AMAZING! I remember my Grandma Seybert took me to see it in theaters when it first came out many years ago. Right away it was my favorite animated movie and still is today. Indy loved it too and was so good during the entire movie. On Friday night I took all my nieces, Indy, and my younger sister-in-law Cami to a Disney Princess Live show. That was amazing too! The girls (except Noel) were just in love with the show and got excited everytime there was a wardrobe change, or a different princess came out. It was a fun night. I was away from Porter for 4 days, 3 nights. I have never been away from him before! Luckily he did great for Devin and was as happy as can be without me. Devin said the first two days he would run around the house looking for me but by the third day he had given up. I was sure happy to get home though and see him and Devin. It was a great girls weekend!

My mom and sister McKree met us at the show too.

An update...FINALLY!

Well, I have a lot to catch up on!!! First, we finally moved into our own home after living with my in-laws for almost 3 months! That was pretty exciting. Then, Indiana turned 3 August 7th. We had a little family birthday party for her. On August 17th we found out that I am pregnant! So, baby #3 will be here at the end of April. We are pretty excited about that! Here are some photos from this month.

A few of us girls from here in Mexico rode 4-wheelers up to the Escondida. It was a lot of fun! We got pretty dirty though.

All of us at Indy's Mickey & Minnie themed birthday. We are all wearing "ears" if you can't tell!

Transitions

This week was a week of transitions for our kids. We got Indy off of her sippy cup (which she was really, really attached to) and moved Porter from a crib to a twin size bed. I am really impressed at how well both kids did! I do have to confess though that we bribed Indiana with buying her a "Rapunzel" dress if she would only drink from cups. She jumped on that deal so quickly! After not even a full 2 days she stopped asking for her sippy. Now when she is thirsty she just asks for her cup, and sometimes a straw to go with it. We had tried taking her sippy cup away from her a few months ago and she had the hardest time. We decided to wait till she was older and we could reason with her more. Glad we did! Porter has been sleeping in his twin bed for 2 days now and NEVER even fussed or cried about it! We moved Indy to a twin bed when she was barely 14 months old and never had an issue either. I like doing it when they are younger because it seems to be easier on them. I have friends who wait till their children are older and the transition is hard. Their crib is a comfort for them and it's what they know. Porter will be 17 months old next week and I really wanted him out of his crib before 18 months, so I'm glad he had no problems switching. Yay for easy transitions!
