New Beachy Chic and Bohemian!

So my mom has been crocheting a lot lately..a family talent passed down from my grandmother...and she recently showed me some bracelets she wants to try and make. (she's decided to move on from blankets and booties..and pot holders..she made me some cool orange and green ones ;-)). It was more like a cuff with lots of beads in it..super cute..but when she showed it to me..it reminded me of these necklaces I made for myself probably 10 years ago with bead crochet in just a simple chain stitch. I loved those necklaces..but never ventured very far with it since I also got into the silk knotting at that time and got blindly hooked on that and still have hardly looked back.

Since it got me thinking about it again I pulled out some of my old Stringth brand cord from Rio Grande and tried to make one. I forgot how much fun it was to make and how much I loved the look! But I needed more cording for it..I actually gave away almost all of my Stringth since I started using Griffin Silk. In doing some research online and asking questions at my bead group Beadingaholics I found an awesome nylon cording with beautiful color choices I never had 10 years ago..at least that I knew of..it's called Superlon Nylon Beading thread..or S-Lon.

Finally I got my new S-Lon cord in but I think I need a smaller size because I'm a pearl girl and really want to add pearls to my work..and it just does not seem to fit through this size D.

Still I'm super excited about these new necklaces I made! So refreshing to do something a little different again. Being so into the look of silk when I knot my pearls..I always love to leave a little showing in between beads because I think it looks so much more natural and organic...these have a thicker fiber look that I am really digging.

Aloha Flower Beaded Bracelet

Wow..it's been almost a week! Sorry I've been away from posting..I was a bit under the weather this week as well as working on a wholesale order for B-Side the Sea. Most of my newly made items have gone to her, however, here is a new item she hasn't snagged quite yet..

I was so excited to get the little Hill Tribe silver flower beads you see here..I thought they would look so happy with all the brightly colored stones.

And here are some earrings to match..

Colorful Anklet and Plumeria Flower

I forgot all about this picture. I had taken a picture of this Tropical Garden Anklet already, but the picture came out a little dark. Tonight a customer was inquiring about it so I remembered this picture and sent it to her so she could get a brighter view of the beads. It came out much lighter..but what was cool about this is that the plumeria flower blew over in the wind (like they so often do when I'm trying to take pictures) and this one had some colorful stripes on the underside that aren't usually there on the flowers from this tree. I thought it was pretty so I took the picture just like it fell.

Married on a Maui Catamaran - Robb and Erin

I had the pleasure of creating Erin's bridal jewelry as well as her bridesmaid's jewelry. Robb and Erin were married on a catamaran here on Maui..I can only imagine what a beautiful experience it must have been. I know the pictures they shared with me were amazing! They were also very thoughtful and sent me a few that featured the jewelry I made to share with everyone.

Thank you Erin and Robb and Erin's mom, Therese..for sending me these pics to share and for letting me be a part of your very special day!

here is a close up on the jewelry created for Erin and her bridesmaids

Success! On Jonara Blu Maui's second corporate order!

I finally got word back that my latest corporate order was a success! The person in charge of organizing this with my company had two, back to back, corporate events so I had to wait to hear from her until she got back from the second one. I knew all must have been okay with the last batch of bracelets reaching their destination since there were no complaints...but to get the final word back that all the women loved the bracelets I designed for them and that all went smoothly is a very big relief. There is always a worry that something will get lost or broken in shipping or who knows. Especially since these were shipped from Maui to their offices on the mainland and then again out to the Bahamas. The order was so big and done over a period of time that I did it in 3 different shipments..shipping each batch out as that set of bracelets was finished.

Oh and I learned that shipping packages that large and expensive...it was cheaper to send it Registered mail AND it was watched much better in the shipping process. I can't remember exactly..but it seemed to save us about 20 bucks in shipping.

So since this was a success the company is looking to use Jonara Blu Maui again in 2008...I hope it works out!
