The 2017 Jaguar F-PACE has been named Best Luxury Utility vehicle by MOTORWEEK.

The 2017 Jaguar F-PACE has been named Best Luxury Utility vehicle by the nationally broadcast television series MotorWeek as part of its annual Drivers’ Choice Awards. Presented during the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, these awards recognize the best new cars and trucks throughout the industry.
Designed and engineered to offer the agility, responsiveness and refinement that all Jaguar models are renowned for, the F-PACE has taken Jaguar DNA and added enhanced practicality and space.
The Drivers’ Choice Award is the latest in an ever-growing list of industry honors that the F-PACE has received since its 2016 introduction, and acknowledges the brand’s successful delivery of a performance SUV that truly resonates with consumers.
“We are honored to have the F-PACE recognized by MotorWeek for Best Luxury Utility vehicle,” said Kim McCullough, Vice President, Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America LLC. “As the Jaguar brand’s first-ever SUV, the F-PACE stands out among an impressive field of competition for its sleek design and unparalleled driving dynamics.”

The annual MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards are selected based on criteria that matter most to consumers – driving performance, technology, practicality, fuel efficiency and value. Awards are given in a variety of lifestyle categories including Best Small Car, Best Family Sedan, Best Convertible, Best Luxury Sedan and Best Luxury Utility. This year’s awards are based on 2017 model year vehicles.
“The Jaguar F-PACE simply wowed us,” said MotorWeek host, John Davis. “For their first attempt at a luxury SUV, Jaguar could have played it safe. Clearly, they did not. The F-PACE checks all the typical luxury boxes, and then tops rivals with benchmark performance. So, not only is the F-PACE a great luxury SUV, it’s a great Jaguar!”
The F-PACE redefines the performance luxury SUV, offering the handling and performance of a sports sedan coupled with the versatility and all-terrain capability of an SUV. The F-PACE is currently available in the U.S. with prices starting from $41,990(1). All-wheel drive and a panoramic sunroof are standard, while owners have their choice of two supercharged gas V6 engines (340- and 380-hp, respectively), or a fuel efficient diesel four-cylinder which produces 318-lb.ft. of torque and carries an EPA highway fuel economy rating of 33 miles per gallon(3).
All 2017 Jaguar models come standard with a best-in-class ownership package– Jaguar EliteCare – which includes a new vehicle limited warranty, roadside assistance, complimentary scheduled maintenance and a suite of connectivity services for five years or 60,000 miles.(2)

Volvo to have a host of new and prize winning models on show at the Chicago Auto Show.

The all-new Volvo V90 Cross Country wagon and ultra-luxurious XC90 Excellence plug-in hybrid SUV will make their Chicago Auto Show debuts this weekend at McCormick Place. Also on display will be the S90, named Best Sedan of the Year 2017 by Chicago News.
Since the introduction of the first Cross Country almost 20 years ago, Volvo Cars has become synonymous with the rugged all-road, all-weather product category, with a growing stable of Cross Country models.
Volvo Cars’ Cross Country models fulfill an increasingly important part of the Swedish automaker’s product portfolio as luxury car buyers seek out a more experienced-based lifestyle that occasionally takes them off the beaten track.

“The V90 Cross Country is an elegant, all-road car that delivers safety, comfort and performance in a capable and adventurous package,” said Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo Cars’ Senior Vice President Americas and President and CEO, Volvo Car USA.
With Volvo Cars’ Scalable Product Architecture providing the underpinnings, the V90 Cross Country has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it can survive the extremes in which it will ultimately find itself.
From secret testing facilities in the frozen north of Sweden, where temperatures regularly hit -40 degrees to the searing desert heat of Arizona, where Volvo Cars performs its high temperature testing program, the V90 Cross Country has been built to last.
“As it was built to survive Swedish winters in the Arctic, we expect the V90 Cross Country can handle anything Chicago can throw at it,” Kerssemakers said.
With a design that clearly stands out from the crowd, the V90 Cross Country’s rugged character belies a sumptuous interior that delivers a level of luxury uncommon in the segment, combining all the benefits of the connectivity and entertainment features that were launched with the new S90 and V90, including a high-end sound system by Bowers & Wilkins.
The V90 Cross Country’s exterior design cues communicate the powerful and dynamic capability that the car exemplifies, while offering the flexibility to choose from both rugged and elegant expressions.
Pricing starts at $55,300 and cars are scheduled to start arriving in U.S. showrooms in March.

XC90 Excellence
The Volvo XC90 Excellence, a four-seat ultra-luxurious variant of the award-winning XC90 SUV, breaks new ground for Volvo, delivering a level of luxury, craftsmanship and comfort not previously seen in the company’s offerings. The driver and front passenger seats are duplicated to form the vehicle’s second row, fundamentally changing the car’s configuration.
Pricing is set at $104,500
With just four seats instead of seven the additional space is utilized to offer a First Class automotive experience that begins with broad, spacious individual reclining rear seats complete with massage, ventilation and increased leg room, as well as a retractable control touchscreen, folding tables, a refrigerator with bottle and glass holders, a heating/cooling cup holder and handmade crystal glasses from leading Swedish glass design company, Orrefors.
The presence of Nappa leather and open-pore wood, a signature of the XC90 Inscription, is expanded throughout the interior while a partition isolates the passenger space from the cargo area. This ensures an ultra-quiet environment to enjoy the 20-speaker, 1400-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
The Volvo XC90 Excellence is uncompromising in luxury, safety and its environmental footprint. The vehicle is offered exclusively with Volvo’s 400 horsepower, T8 Twin-Engine Plug-in Hybrid Electric powertrain with an Orrefors crystal gear shifter. Of course, the XC90 Excellence meets the same stringent safety standards as the XC90 T8 Inscription, Momentum and R-Design.
“The Volvo XC90 Excellence is a fantastic expanded version of Volvo’s idea of luxury. It brings together fantastic materials, uncompromising safety and performance into an amazing package,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA, “This car exposes Volvo to a new type of buyer.”

Record Sales
Volvo Cars reported a third consecutive year of record sales in 2016, increasing 6.2 percent compared to 2015 to 534,332 cars, underlining the breadth and depth of the company’s ongoing global transformation.
The record 2016 was driven by solid growth in all major sales regions, including double-digit increases in its two largest markets China and the United States and a strong performance in Western Europe. Looking ahead, Volvo is confident that 2017 will be another record year in terms of sales.
Sales of the new top-of-the-line 90 series cars were the main growth driver globally, led by the Volvo XC90 large premium SUV for which sales rose 125 percent versus 2015, highlighting the success of the company’s new design and engineering direction and boding well for the future as more new models are revealed in coming years.
Meanwhile, the XC60 mid-size premium SUV established another new annual sales record of 161,092 cars in its ninth year on the market, having increased sales every year since it was introduced in 2008.
Volvo’s largest market in 2016 was China, with total sales of 90,930 cars, an increase of 11.5 percent. The best-selling models in the world’s largest car market were the locally-produced Volvo XC60 and S60L premium sedan.
In the United States Volvo took market share in 2016, growing 18.1 percent, making it one of the fastest growing premium brands in a broadly flat market. Total sales for the year amounted to 82,726 cars, with the Volvo XC90 and XC60 leading sales performances.
Sales in Western Europe increased 4.1 percent, boosted by strong performances in key markets such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Total sales in the region amounted to 206,144 cars.
The new sales record in 2016 tops off another year in which Volvo Cars continued its global transformation and the repositioning of the brand to compete with its global premium rivals.
During the course of the year the company strengthened its leadership in areas such as autonomous drive (AD), electrification and safety, forged new business alliances, continued the renewal of its entire product range and expanded its global manufacturing footprint.
In 2016 Volvo continued construction work on a new $500M manufacturing plant in South Carolina, its first in the United States. The plant will build new cars based on its modular Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and will initially employ up to 2,000 people. The new plant in South Carolina underlines Volvo’s long term and strong commitment to the United States.
Volvo Cars also unveiled a new manufacturing strategy for China in which production capacity will be increased and China will be developed in a global manufacturing export hub. Its top-of-the-range S90 cars will be built in Daqing in northern China, while existing and future 60-series cars will be built in Chengdu. Cars in its planned new 40 series, based on its Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), will be made at a plant under construction in Luqiao, 350km south of Shanghai.
With the introduction of the V90 Cross Country premium estate in September, Volvo completed the launch of a completely new 90 series line-up. These new cars have highlighted the transformational effect of the SPA architecture in terms of design, technology and brand, a feat underlined by the over 120 awards won by the XC90 SUV.
In the coming years Volvo Cars will continue to replace its entire model range. During the course of 2017 it will launch a completely new version of the successful XC60 mid-size SUV based on the SPA architecture, as well as the XC40 small SUV, the first in an all-new range of 40 series cars based on the CMA architecture that underpin its global small car strategy.
Volvo Cars also last year announced one of the auto industry’s most comprehensive electrification strategies in which plug-in hybrids will be introduced across its entire range. It will also introduce its first fully electric car by 2019. By 2025, Volvo aims to have sold a total of up to 1 million electrified cars.
New partnerships forged during 2016 place Volvo Cars at the forefront of the significant change currently underway in the auto industry.
Volvo Cars and Uber agreed to set up and finance a joint development project that will develop and manufacture base vehicles on the SPA architecture, able to incorporate the latest AD technologies up to and including fully autonomous cars.
It also established a joint venture together with Autoliv, named Zenuity, to design and develop AD software and advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) for sales to third party OEMs. Zenuity will create a new entrant in the fast growing global market for autonomous driving software systems and the first time a leading premium car maker has joined forces with a tier one supplier to develop these systems.
Volvo Cars will in 2017 start the world’s most advanced and ambitious autonomous vehicle test in Gothenburg, with real families using AD XC90 cars in everyday life, paving the way for it to be a global leader in autonomous driving technologies. It will start similar tests with real people behind the wheel of its self-driving cars in London and China in the coming years.
As a result of these and other partnerships that are transforming its business model, Volvo Cars is no longer just a car maker, it is now a global premium mobility company.

USA - Subaru to launch the 2018 Legacy Sedan at this years Chicago Auto Show.

SUBARU DEBUTS 2018 LEGACY AT THE CHICAGO AUTO SHOW WITH MORE ELEGANT STYLING, UPGRADED INTERIOR, NEW SAFETY FEATURES AND ADVANCED MULTIMEDIA

  • Revised front and rear styling for sportier look.
  • Redesigned interior with more premium materials.
  • Ride made even smoother and quieter.
  • Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • New available Steering Responsive LED Headlight system.
  • New multimedia capabilities.

Subaru of America, Inc., which posted its eighth consecutive year of record-breaking sales, today announced that it will debut the 2018 Legacy midsize sedan at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show on February 9th

The new Legacy features revised styling and significant upgrades to comfort, safety, and multimedia capability. In addition to major changes, myriad smaller engineering and design details throughout the 2018 Legacy enhance the driving experience. The 2018 Subaru Legacy will go on sale this summer.

The 2018 Legacy, the roomiest sedan in the midsize segment, is available in a 2.5i model with an efficient and responsive 175-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine, or, as the Legacy 3.6R with a 256-hp 3.6-liter 6-cylinder BOXER engine.
Both engines come teamed as standard with the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) with manual mode and paddle shift control switches. A retuned ECU for 2018 provides the CVT with more responsive and smoother acceleration. The 2.5i will be available in standard, Premium, and Sport trims; Limited offers a choice of 2.5i or 3.6R engines. Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring are standard in all trims, making the Legacy the only midsize sedan to feature all-wheel drive as standard on all models.
Already an exemplar of passenger safety, the Legacy adds to its array of driver-assist features for 2018, including available new Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH). Available in conjunction with LED headlights, SRH aims the lights into turns as the driver steers. Also for 2018, Limited models with EyeSight utilize the systems’ cameras for High Beam Assist, which automatically turn the high beams on and off depending on traffic conditions.
Sportier, Yet More Elegant Design
The Legacy wears a sportier and more elegant look for 2018, highlighted by wider, lower grille openings and new bumper that complement the wider Subaru hexagonal grille, now with distinctive wing element. The C-shaped headlights and parking lights and new horizontal lines extending outward from the grille subtly suggest the piston motion of the BOXER engine, a Subaru core technology. The redesigned headlights now feature distinctive “Konoji” daytime LED running lights.
Available LED fog lamps lend a sophisticated image. Other design details bolster the luxury-class appearance for the 2018 Legacy, including new high-contrast wheel designs and two rich new exterior colors, Magnetite Gray Metallic and Crimson Red Pearl. From the rear, the 2018 Legacy conveys a wider, more planted stance, although the car measures the same width as before. The new tailpipe design integrated into the lower fascia adds a premium touch.
More Responsive and Quieter
Subaru went through the Legacy chassis to make the 2018 model even more comfortable to drive, while also retuning its suspension to enhance agility and steering and brake feel. Retuned dampers reduce the initial impact of bumps while also reducing body roll through turns. Smoother, more linear response from the Electric Power Steering (EPS) and a firmer, more direct brake-pedal feel also make the Legacy more engaging to drive.
Already lauded for its quiet ride, the Legacy moves another step up in cabin comfort for 2018 with further reductions from all noise sources. The Lineartronic CVT on 2.5-liter equipped cars now uses a quieter ultra-short-pitch chain, and adjustments to engine timing under acceleration further reduce powertrain noise. Reshaped exterior mirrors are among a number of enhancements that help reduce noise entering the cabin. New sound-insulating inner film glass for the front side windows makes the front seat area quieter, while thicker rear wheel well aprons reduce rear seat ambient noise.
More Comfort, More Tech
The 2018 Subaru Legacy debuts an interior with new premium materials and a redesigned center console with an available 8-inch display screen for enhanced multimedia capabilities. On Premium and higher trims, real stitching on the dash, seats and door panels along with high-gloss black trim and silver-color bezels for various controls enhance the high-quality feel of the Legacy cabin. A new gray interior is now available, in addition to black or ivory. The steering wheel is all new with a sportier look and feel.
Subaru enhanced Legacy comfort in both large and small ways for 2018. The air conditioning system cools the cabin more quickly and provides more uniform temperature throughout the cabin. Subaru moved the temperature setting indicator to inside the control dial for more intuitive operation. As an added convenience on all models, interior power is retained for a short time after the ignition has been switched off. A redesigned clock is now larger and easier to read.
SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia
The 2018 Legacy gains the brand’s latest SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia system with Bluetooth wireless capability, iPod control, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more. The top-level system includes TomTom navigation with 3 years of free map updates. Two USB power ports are added to the back of the center console for rear seat passengers’ convenience.
The standard STARLINK 6.5” Multimedia system is an upgrade from the previous STARLINK 6.2” system and offers quicker performance. The available STARLINK 8.0” system debuts a new 8-inch central display that uses a faster CPU to greatly increase startup speed, giving the touch screen a more smartphone-like operation and feel. More smartphone-linked operations improve the multimedia experience while reducing the need to divert eyes from the road or hands from the steering wheel.
The use of two microphones and Technology by Nuance (maker of Dragon Dictation apps for PCs and other devices) significantly improves the voice recognition capabilities. The driver can more easily use Apple Siri or OK Google voice commands. The system is also compatible with multiple languages.
Among standard features on all SUBARU STARLINK systems are Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, iPod control, a USB port and auxiliary input jack. High-line trims add more features, including dual USB ports. Smartphone integration features Aha and Pandora, along with STARLINK cloud applications iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Calendar, Music Player, News and Weather.
Apps added for 2018 include:

  • Magellan NAVI offers advanced cloud-based mapping
  • eBird advises of local bird sightings and locations
  • Best Parking locates and compares parking rates
  • YELP delivers crowd sourced reviews of businesses
  • Glympse provides real-time location sharing
  • RightTrack monitors driving habits and recommends improvements
  • Quick Guide is a digital reference guide for the vehicle
  • eventseeker provides information on local events

The new Legacy STARLINK Multimedia systems are also compatible with OTA (Over the Air) updates using WiFi.

Safety Leader with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology
The Subaru Legacy builds on its long record as a safety standout for 2018, with Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) and newly available Steering Responsive Headlight (SRH) system. RAB can detect objects in vehicle’s path and convey audible warnings to the driver, including showing distance and position of the object in the center display screen.
Also new for 2018, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) now detects pressure changes at each tire. The Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert indicator lamp is larger and has been moved from the mirror surface to the side of the mirror. In highline trims, redesigned LED turn signals in the mirrors are easier for other drivers to see.
All Legacy trim lines come standard with a rear-view camera. New for 2018, when reversing, the guidelines displayed on the screen move in sync with the steering to provide more accurate vehicle positioning.
The brand’s available award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, available on most trims, includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Vehicle Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist. Models with EyeSight also come with Blind Spot Detection/Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which includes Lane Change Assist.  For 2018, all Legacy models are equipped with Incline Start Assist and the electronic Hill Holder System that holds the vehicle in place until the driver applies the throttle.

The 2018 Subaru Legacy also helps take care of personal security. Standard Welcome Lighting automatically operates cabin illumination and exterior lights as the driver approaches or departs the vehicle. New for 2018 are automatic locking doors. Subaru also made child seat installation easier in the 2018 Legacy with improved LATCH anchors.
Two Levels of SUBARU BOXER Power
The Legacy 2.5i is powered by a 175-hp double overhead cam (DOHC) 2.5-liter BOXER engine that produces 174 lb-ft peak torque. The Active Grille Shutter system helps to improve fuel economy by reducing wind resistance. The DOHC 3.6-liter 6-cylinder BOXER engine in the Legacy 3.6R produces 256 hp and 247 lb-ft of peak torque, sustaining 90 percent of peak torque from 2,000-6,000 rpm for exceptional response at all vehicle speeds.
In all Legacy models, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is an active AWD system that uses an electronically managed continuously variable transfer clutch to actively manage torque distribution based on acceleration, deceleration and available traction. The system automatically directs up to 100 percent of available torque to the wheels with the best grip.
SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services
Two SUBARU STARLINK packages are available and are among the most affordable in the industry. The STARLINK Safety Plus package, which is complimentary for the first year and $99 per year after that, includes SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts. For even greater peace of mind, the STARLINK Safety Plus & Security Plus Package adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.

Subaru of America launched a Crosstrek limited Edition, The Pure Red, with only 1500 they will go quickly.

  • Limited edition model of 1,500 units
  • Pure Red exterior color
  • Unique red interior
  • Debuting at the Chicago Auto Show
Subaru of America, Inc. today announced the introduction of the 2016 Crosstrek Special Edition. The Special Edition, in Pure Red, will be a limited production of 1,500 and will debut at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.
The versatile, fun-to-drive Crosstrek combines bold five-door design, a highly capable chassis and in-demand multimedia features. Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, high ground clearance (8.7 inches), 17-inch alloy wheels and ample room for passengers and cargo make the Subaru Crosstrek a high-capability crossover.

It is one of the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive crossover utility vehicles in America, delivering 34-mpg EPA-estimated highway fuel economy. The Crosstrek small SUV has been a strong seller since its introduction in 2012 and is now Subaru’s third best selling model.
Based on the 2.0i Premium, the Special Edition features Subaru “Pure Red” exterior color and matching foldable mirrors with integrated turn signals.  Red stitching accents the leather-wrapped shift lever handle, steering wheel and door panels. Unique to this model is interior dash trim with a red inlay.

Also, interior lighting casts a soft red glow onto the front floor area and storage space below the climate control.  The SE Crosstrek will begin arriving into retailers in late spring 2016.
The Special Edition includes the All-Weather Package (heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and windshield wiper de-icer), Power Moonroof, Instrument Panel with color LCD, Keyless Access with Push-Button Start, and Blind Spot Detection / Rear Cross Traffic Alert System (which includes Lane Change Assist).

The SUBARU STARLINK 6.2” multimedia system with a 6.2-in. single-touch gesture display comes standard on the Special Edition.  The system includes AM/FM stereo with HD Radio®, Radio Data Broadcast System, single-disc CD player, Bluetooth® hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, iPod®control, a USB port and an auxiliary input jack.

Smartphone integration features Aha and Pandora®, along with new SUBARU STARLINK Cloud Applications Stitcher, Calendar, Music Player, News, Weather and iHeart® Radio.  SiriusXM® All Access Radio is available for a four month free trial starting at delivery and can continue with a paid monthly subscription.

The 6.2-in. screen also displays the rear vision camera view to provide an additional level of convenience and safety.
The 2.0-liter Subaru BOXER engine uses aluminum cylinder heads and block and produces 148 hp at 6,200 rpm and 145 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. The long-stroke configuration (84 mm bore and 90 mm stroke) enhances torque across the engine speed range. A dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) configuration features Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) for both intake and exhaust valves for optimizing torque delivery.
Available exclusively with Subaru’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the Special Edition continuously and smoothly adapts to performance demand by keeping the engine in its most efficient operating range. A 6-speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters allows the driver to control the transmission via six pre-set ratios.
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) combines stability and traction control functions and integrates a rollover sensor. The traction control functions as a second line of defense against wheel slip by augmenting the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive functionality.
A 103.7-in wheelbase yields impressive interior roominess in the Subaru Crosstrek, including 35.4 inches of rear seat legroom. With the standard 60/40 split rear seatbacks folded, this versatile five-door crossover provides a flat load floor and up to 51.9 cubic feet of carrying space.
In 2015, Subaru achieved seven consecutive years of record sales and exceeded 580,000 annual sales – a first in company history.  January marked the 23rd consecutive month of 40,000+ vehicle sales for the company.  Crosstrek, along with Forester and Legacy, achieved its best January ever.
