Nobu Doha

Finally, after waiting for 4-5 years, I ate at Nobu Doha.
Yes, about 4-5 years ago, when I was in Qatar that time, it said that Nobu Doha would open soon, but till I was demobilized 2012, the restaurant still had not opened. There was a news that the project was cancelled.
Am happy that it finally opened, after I returned to Qatar again this time.

I knew Nobu-san from Japanese TV program called 情熱大陸, the program that tell the stories about great Japanese people to be proud of. Nobu-san left Japan and started his first restaurant in New York. Now he became famous internationally, and opened many restaurants over the world.

Nobu Doha is located literally on the say, in the edge of ferry pier, behind Four Season Hotel.
Though the price is expensive for my standard, since in Doha a lot of rich people, locals and high paid expats, when I was there it was full.

With 4 Japanese colleagues, avoiding choosing food from the big menu collection, we decided to take Omakase course. Omakase literally means "up-to-you" or "you choose for me". There are 2 omakase courses, QAR 450 and QAR 650, we took the cheaper one.
It was quite a volume, started with sushi, ended with 2 deserts.
What made unsatisfyingly expensive was the drink.
In Japan, any restaurants provide free hot tea or water, but here, they charged QAR 35 for a glass of green tea, and QAR 55-65 for a tea pot.
Would love to come back though.

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian

Found this book recommended somewhere and bought it in Dubai Airport.

The title sounded funny, maybe that was attracted me.

Read this book little by little, mostly during traveling.

Since last month, I read the book on the return bus from work.

Finally I finished it yesterday.

To my relief, this was not about tractors.

This book was kind of drama comedy.

Unique.

Good to know the life of Ukrainian migrant and their war history.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

Just finished reading this novel, the second novel from Khaled Hosseini, after the Kite Runner, read few months before and got really touched. Started reading this book few months ago, during my traveling to Iran, but it took so long to finish the reading, since the story was so sad, I guess. But when continuing reading, the story got more and more interesting, though still sad, told the reality of wars after wars in Afganistan, and the sorrow of women especially during Taliban period. The story started with the story of one of the two main characters, Mariyam, and then switched suddenly to the story of the other heroin, Laila, and then how the fate made them together. Though I like the Kite Runner better, maybe because I am a boy, and had some similar experience with the friendship the Kite Runner, I like the ending of this book better. And the book gave me some knowledge about Afganistan women. Also the book made me have interest in war refugee. Recommended.

FAME, the movie

Today, I went to watched the movie Fame in Doha, since I had to meet also friends for Brazil travel planning. I was really looking forward to watch this movie, since I love to see dance.

The movie was beyond my expectation. At least, I got 3 scenes that make me feel so touched that my tears came out. Those 3 scenes are:

1. The scene when Denise is singing a song in an empty school hall. This is the first scene in the movie she sang. Her voice was so beautiful, the piano melody and the lyrics were so touching.

2. The scene when Marco is singing a song in his father's restaurant for Jenny. Such a beautiful love song. No wonder Jenny fell for him that night. I wish I could sing a song to win my love :)

3. The scene when Jenny is saying a poet about Success. ...Success is not about money or fame... Success is when you wake up in the morning, you feel like you want to fly out the door, going to work with the people your love, doing the work you love.... Success is about love.... Made me think about my current situation....

The dance and the song, I loved this movie!

友人たちとブラジル旅行計画もめにドーハに行くということで、ついでに映画FAMEを見てきた。もともとダンスが好きで、この映画の上映を楽しみにしてたけど、予想以上だった。少なくとも、三つのシーンで感動して、涙ウルルン状態になった。

１．Deniseが一番初めに歌ったシーン。一人で広い学校のホールで歌った。そのきれいな歌声、ピアノのメロディと歌詞に感動。

２．Marcoがお父さんのレストランで、Jennyのためにに歌ったシーン。なんて美しいラブソング。JennyがMarcoにそれで恋に落とされても納得。あんな風に、歌で好きな人を落としたいな～

３．JennyがSuccess成功についての詩をうたったシーン。・・・成功とは、朝目覚める時、飛ぶようにあのドアを出て、自分の好きな仕事をやり、好きな人たちと仕事をやり・・・　自分の現状を思わされてしまった～

と歌とダンスと詩で、感動を与えてくれた映画。この映画が好き！

Desperate House Wives

Yesterday, finally I completed watching my favourite drama Desperate House Wives Season 5, with the happy ending of marriage between Mike and Suzan, my favourite characters.

Maybe this is the only drama I bear to watch till 5 seasons.

I got bored at Season 3 for "24", and Season 2 for "Prison Break".

One word to describe this drama: Cute and Sexy! :)
Since the Season 6 is still on air in America, it will take some time before I can watch it on video, which is good so that I can still feel good for the happy ending of Season 5.

昨日、シーズン５を見終わった。
スーザンとマイクの再婚で、ハッピーエンドやったので、（なぜか）いい気分やった。最高！

５シーズンも、ドラマを続けてみたのは、このドラマだけかも。

２４はシーズン３で飽きちゃって、プリズンブレークはシーズン２で飽きちゃった。

このドラマは、一言でいうと、キュートアンドセクシーだね。

ありえない～といいながら本当面白い。わらける～

せっかくシーズン５でハッピーエンドなので、これで終わらせてほしいけど、アメリカでシーズン６をやってるみたいね。
ま、手に入るのは、もうちょっと時間がかかるの、しばらくこのいい気分が残るね～

Slumdog Millionaire, it is a movie about love!

Just watched now!

truly touched...

it is a movie about love, not about money...

is it really like that, the life in slum area?

shall i be sympathized to the life of slum children there...?

i think not only in Mumbai, the slum areas in many countries have similar situation...

what can i do?

really want to do something...

the children...

it is not their will to be born...

it seems unfair they have to suffer...

however, because of sadness, we can appreciate the happiness...

that is life...

but watching this love movie, making me want to fall in love, make love with someone...

making me want to dance Indian Bollywood dance.... JEHO!

ただいま、スラムドッグミリオネール、今年アカデミ賞受賞映画を見てきた。

感動しちゃった～

愛についての映画だった・・・

しかし、映画に出てるスラムエリアの状況って、本当にそうなのかな。

本当にそうだろうな。

インドだけじゃなくて、多くの国のスラムエリアの状況は似てるやろうな。

むなしくなる。

子供って、自分の意思で世の中に生まれてきたわけではないけど、なぜ苦しまないといけないのか～

アンフェイアを感じてしまう。

しかし、つらいことがあるからこそ、喜びが味わえるよね。

それが人生。

金持ちの家で生まれてきた坊ちゃんだって、必ずしも幸せになるとは限らないしね・・・

人生って　～

この映画を見ると、恋したくなっちゃった～

そして、スラムにいる子供たちのために、何かをやってあげたい気持ち・・・

Seven Pounds

See this heart-warming story, about the importance of LIFE, relation between your life and others. Just few moments ago, just heard from the CNN about the shooting in Alabama and Germany, the mass killing of innocent people. Should have they see this movie, they might have not shoot people.

This film is the story about one man, who is trying to give priceless gifts to seven unknown persons. Why? You will find out at the end of the story...

感動させる映画。悲しくなったり、心温まる話。人生の大切さ、自分の人生、他人の人生とのかかわりを考えさせられた。ちょうど先ほど、CNNで、アメリカのアラバマやドイツでの無差別殺人事件が流れてた。そんな簡単に他人の命を取った彼ら、この映画を見てほしい。

タイトル通り、主人公の男が、7つのプライスレスの贈り物を、知人でもな7人に他人にささげる。その理由は、最後に明かされた。是非みてほしい一本！
