Two wonderful things: a book sale and a great review!

Many of you know Rebel Ink Press author Lori J. Gordon for her exciting romance novels. She has recently received a great review for Jenny Hits The Jackpot, and in honor of that, you can purchase a Kindle copy of the book from Amazon from May 7 to May 10 for only $.99. It's a great opportunity to own what Lori considers the personal favorite of her novels. Here's what she has to say about Jenny Hits The Jackpot:

"Jenny Hits the Jackpot has special meaning to me because it was written with the help and inspiration of my best friend, Katrina Davis. We actually dreamt up this story while playing slot machines at the very Casino my Hero and Heroine meet."

And without further ado--the review! --

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Jenny Hits the Jackpot" by Lori J Gordon.]  3 out of 4 stars

Review by Leon Durham

Jenny Hits the Jackpot is a romance novel by Lori J. Gordon. Successful thirty-five-year-old Tyler Wells scores something unusual while having some fun at a Las Vegas casino. Some people hit jackpots. Other people win brand new luxury cars. What Tyler wins is a chance to right all his wrongs. A freak accident ends Tyler's wealthy CEO life in the blink of an eye. One minute he's whispering his sudden need for sex into his attractive date Bridgette's ear. Then, suddenly, he finds himself in the presence of Damien, a red-eyed spirit guide who lets him know, quite clearly, that he is dead.

Freshly divorced Jenny Spencer hits more than just one jackpot. She wins one-thousand dollars and a brand new car. A brand new, unnervingly seductive man named Tyler is her third prize. What she doesn't know is that Tyler is actually a dead CEO; however, he's completely visible to anything with eyes. Jenny is not Tyler's first assignment. She is his last. If he can prevent her from doing something terrible to herself in a few days' time, then he will be free from an immutable eternity in the Las Vegas dessert. As Tyler and Jenny spend more and more time together, one problem with Tyler's mission arises; he begins to fall in love with his assignment.

The author shows that she has a neck for stirring things up in this heated, steamy novel about a man's inability to control himself around a woman he finds more than just attractive. There are many characters I loved. The character I hated the most though, was the main character. Tyler Wells might be a guy many people dream of being, but quite frankly, he's a rude fellow. I loved how the author made him out to be this improved, more well-mannered version of his former self. It was like Tyler feared he was being watched and judged by God or something. As soon as he learns what his growing relationship with Jenny is doing to him, the old Tyler comes right back. For this, I tip my hat to the author.

The novel's weakness might be that it lacks more background about Tyler. For instance, the man swears a lot. There is nothing in the novel that sheds light on why Tyler is the way he is. Apart from Tyler's vocabulary, I enjoyed this novel until the very end. It began with a bang, and stayed interesting. I won't say that the writing is excellent, but readers should know that they'll be hooked until they reach the novel's satiating conclusion.

I recommend this to all lovers of romance novels. It is as much a love story as it is about a man who tries to be better than his former self. If you possess the ability to overlook strong language, by all means, read this. It is a wonderful book with a great lesson to teach. I'm taking away one point for the writing itself, which is good, but not great. My rating is
3 out of 4. Lori J. Gordon is also the author of The Lost Night Trilogy and other books she has published with Rebel Ink Press.

BLURB:

Celebrating his latest success with a trip to Las Vegas, Business Tycoon Tyler Wells is in for the shock of his life. Electrocuted by a slot machine, he finds himself suspended between life and death, facing the man who holds the key between Heaven and Hell. To save his soul, Tyler will be sent on a mission to prevent a woman from taking her own life--a woman he has wronged in the past.

When her husband left her for another woman, Jenny Spencer was heartbroken.
When her employer told her they were closing their doors for good, she was frustrated.
But learning the man she’d fallen in love with is responsible for her employer’s demise leaves Jenny devastated.

Will Tyler see the error of his ways in time to win back the woman he loves? Or will his pride condemn them both?

EXCERPT:

A whisper of warm breath brushed across her. “Are you okay?” She heard a deep voice ask.
Slowly opening her eyes, Jenny cringed. Still seeing spots from the bright light that  hit her right between the eyes, ears still buzzing with the ridiculous slot machine melody, it took a second for her to realize she was on the floor, surrounded by curious on-lookers. The stool she’d been using was on its side and crouched down in front of her was the sexiest man she’d ever seen. Of course, she could be seeing things. The burst of light from the machine had  her  seeing stars. Why not a sexy man, too?
“Easy,” he whispered taking hold of her arm. “Take it slow,” he added while helping her sit up. “Do you need a doctor?”
“Huh…”
“You took a nasty spill from the chair. Are you hurt?”
His voice, as sexy as his face, caused her heart to gallop. Maybe I do need adoctor. “What…what happened,” she managed.
The dark haired sex god smiled brilliantly. “You just hit the jackpot.”
Jenny looked at the machine for the first time since falling off the stool. Lights were still flashing, and the silly carnival tune surrounded them.
“Do these machines always flash such bright lights,” Jenny asked sex god. “For a minute I thought I’d been struck by lightning. I guess the shock of winning made me faint?” She looked away from the machine, and spots still swam in front of her while the air seemed to crackle with electricity from the machine.  Jenny thought maybe that was why she suddenly wanted to jump the stranger holding onto her arm.
Looking directly at him, Jenny demanded, “Who are you?”
He leaned in, his lips mere inches from her ear. “I’m your prize,” he whispered.
Jenny burst out laughing. When she could speak again, she said, “That’s a good one.”
He just winked.
Remembering how she’d thought the man on the machine winked at her Jenny frowned. No way!
Looking from the man to the slot machine and back, she shook her head. Absolutely not. “Has that line ever worked for you?”
At least he had enough pride to look embarrassed.
“Never,” he admitted. “But it doesn’t mean it isn’t true. I am your prize.”
