Can I get a woo-woo

We received really exciting news yesterday. Joe opened up our health insurance benefits statement and noticed that they paid for Kalli's helmet. Originally we fought to have them pay for her helmet and the insurance company said it was not covered for various reasons. After many hours on the phone and getting nowhere, we decided we would just have to pay for it ourselves. It was $1500, which we could afford, but it still wasn't nice. 

So now, the insurance paid it all and we will get our money back from the helmet company. We couldn't be more excited! 

It now reduces her surgery and recovery cost from $1600 to $100, good health insurance is such a great thing!

With and Without

Thank you all for voting on the very important issue of Kalli's pictures. I really liked the idea of doing some with the helmet and some without, I hadn't thought of that. Here are the final results. I think they turned out pretty cute!

Do you think he's excited for those cupcakes? He kept running into the living room declaring "they're cooking!". Such a Norby. 

Our excursion in model homes

This weekend Joe and I went and checked out the model homes in our community (something we hadn't been able to do when we bought our house). Overall, they were gorgeous, but there were a couple exceptions I would like to mention. 

This picture really doesn't do justice. These countertops were way BLUE. Now I can imagine this is some people's taste, but man it was not attractive. It surprises us that they would put such a drastic color in the kitchen. Oh well, it gave us a great laugh. This is what beat all. Apparently the room is supposed to be a scrapbooking room but somewhere along the way it became a "crap" room. Maybe that's what most of our "scrap" rooms become in the end. 

Are wisdom teeth all that wise?

So two weeks after Kalli was born I had to have one of my wisdom teeth taken out. When I am pregnant my wisdom teeth move up and down constantly and cause me so much pain. But there isn't much you can do about it when you're pregnant. After Kalli was born my left wisdom tooth decided to come up, cut up my gums which caused an infection and made me miserable. The experience was awful, I would much rather have gone through labor than do that again. The doctor couldn't believe how bad it was. I was in so much pain before it came out that the recovery was pretty easy because the pain was less. 

Before we left Phoenix my dentist that I LOVED told me I needed to go to an oral surgeon for my other three because one was growing in really funny. With Kalli's surgery and our move I just got into the dentist and was told the same thing. 

Come Wednesday I will have an IV inserted (AHHHH) and given anesthesia to get my teeth out. I won't be completely under but I won't be able to feel anything (at least that's what they say). 

I couldn't be more nervous. It hurt SO bad last time and I am scared out of my mind, although my dentist made me feel comfortable. Also, Joe took SUCH good care of me last time that I know I will be in good hands. Please ease my fears because I can't stop thinking about it!

Also, I am cursing my parents for not getting my wisdom teeth out when I was a teenager. I wouldn't be paying the price for it now.

Alligator or crab?

So it's probably a pity that I am the stay at home parent in our family. Let me give you the reason why: 

Blake is hooked on those little capsules that grow in the water. The other day we got like 9 packages of them because they were 20 cents at KB Toys. So Blake was taking a bath and he got two of the growing capsules. The one to your right was one of the ones that grew. Sometimes it takes a minute for the form to come to life. I took a look at it and said, Blake it's an alligator. He was excited. I needed to leave him to take care of Kalli so Joe took over. 

While I'm feeding Kalli I hear Joe saying crab. I thought he was referring to the other animal that came to be. Nope, Joe came out and informed me that what I thought was an alligator was in fact a crab. But Blake only believes me apparently. We keep telling him it's a crab but he says "no crab, alligator". Oh well, maybe I shouldn't be the one teaching my children. 

(In my defense I don't think the animal had completely taken form and therefore didn't look like a crab, like he does in the picture). Special parent moment.

This and That

Here are just a few updates on us:

It snowed her in Albuquerque last Sunday all morning. It was really pretty coming down. It made me so happy to be out of the Phoenix heat. Although it didn't last long (one day), it was still nice to have some snow. This is a picture of the snow coming down in our backyard.  Blake thoroughly enjoyed watching the snow come down. He didn't call it "snow" but "snowman". It was pretty cute. We never did get out to play in it though. Dang! I baked cinnamon rolls this morning and this is Blake thoroughly enjoying them. Yes, he licked off all the frosting and then hardly ate any of the bread part. So much like his daddy!

Blake is loving the house. He often will run laps up and down the house. I think he loves the room he has to play. He has also become very good at cleaning up his toys (surprise, surprise) because there are actual places to put them now.  Kalli still continues to amaze us by how well behaved she is. Her getting upset is pretty funny because she barely whimpers so she doesn't get a lot of attention when she cries. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 3 or 4 weeks old. She goes from about 9 pm til about 7 am. It's so nice! 

I took her in yesterday to see the helmet lady (I don't know her title) and she told me Kalli is doing really well. The sides of her head that the helmet is working on has already gotten bigger which is great! We let her have the helmet off for about 3 hours a day (one in the morning and two at night). Poor little girl gets heat rashes from the helmet, but her little head is starting to get used to that. 

On another note, we are almost completely unpacked. The problem is that we have a garage and have put the boxes out there and they have become out of sight out of mind. So, we are still kind of working on that.
