tut tut

just one day after returning from st. johns, my sisters and i [plus our numerous spawn] headed north again. this time, all of us in one car. like a pack of sardines we were, for the love of economics.
i think we managed to visit during one of the only dry spells this month. not hardly an ounce of the rain we so desperately hoped for. about the 5th day the thunder rolled and the wind blew, conjuring up this teaser,

but no dice. just a little mister and we really craved a downpour to solidify our melting selves from the 90-ish degrees all week. i know, wah. it was 110 degrees in the valley, but down there we are spoiled by the possibility of at least a temporary escape indoors to climate control.
the kids didn't seem to mind as long as their sippy cups never ran dry. they had horses to feed and goats to milk. ancestors' houses to explore and clubs to organize under the bridge down the lane...

bugs that needed catching and teeth to form. [??, you say] yeah, you read me right. mom and ron's business of making dental prosthetics makes for an interesting evening in the lab for these curious assistants. ron set them all up at their own stations making forms of their fingers and such, complete with their own bunsen burners. remember those from high school chem101?

joe met me and the boys up there for the weekend after everyone else retreated back to their much hotter, yet air-conditioned homes. the boys were glad to have daddy there and nana to themselves for a bit, but still no rain. we finally gave in on the protest and forced ourselves back home sunday morning and wouldn't you know it. just after we left. downpour.

i'll admit i feel a little cheated not getting any thunder storms, but a good time was had by all. And being packed in made it feel that much more adventursome.

Cute pics. Sorry you missed the rain. It has rained ever since. Come on up and try again.

Those pics are adorable! I especially love the one with Jonah in front of Aunt Anne's house.

That looks like so much fun. What camera do you use? Your pics are always so great!

And, I know I've never met Joe, but his hair looks good at that length. I think that's the length my husband is aiming for! (or "for which my husband is aiming")

anna- i use the canon rebel XT and thank you!
if it were up to me i'd have left a couple more inches on his hair, it's kind of at the "gay squire" length [as he calls it], like a bob sort of. but he wanted to make sure he could donate it, i guess. luckily his hair grows fast.
and i see you have a bit of a peeve for grammatical correctness, too. :)

What a great trip! I'm so jealous! I hate when the rain comes just after you leave somewhere :P
