Broken Arm
Our poor little Wendel broke his arm on Friday. Jeremiah and I were downstairs and heared a BANG upstairs. Jeremiah ran up and asked "what was that noise?" Wendel said, "I just jumped off the bed, watch this." He then ran and jumped off the bed, landed on his feet, then they slipped out from underneath him and he put his arms out to catch himself. We were at the doctor 20 minutes later where we were sent to get x-rays. Those x-rays showed a brake on the Supracondyal of the Humerus (right above the elbow). Our doctor wanted an orthopedic surgeon to look at them so we went to another hospital thru the ER. We did more x-rays and the surgeon said he wanted to do surgery. They admitted Wendel to the hospital and did surgery Saturday morning. He did very well considering. He hated the IV most of all,but they got it on the first stick thank goodness. He now has 2 pins in his arm that will stay there for 4 weeks. He has to wear a splint until then. Poor thing has been so brave. After surgery he told the nurse "don't talk to me.....I don't like you." He also kept calling everyone a duffus and kicked me a couple of times. We were just glad he didn't use all the other offensive words in his vocabulary:) We are so glad that he is okay and so grateful to have doctors and medicine to help in times like these. We knew a broken bone was inevitable someday, we just can't believe it happened at 4 years old! I guess he watched too much of the olympics. We were planning on him competing against the Chinese in London (since he will be 8), but now our hopes have been dashed:)

Wendel turns 4
These Pics. are actually from June, but I just found them:) For Wendel's birthday, we always let him pick a theme....this year was Star Wars. With his help, we made a darth vader pinata which I think turned out pretty cute! We set up on obstacle course for the kids and when it got dark, handed out glow sticks that they used as light sabers. What more could a kid want huh? Well, he also got a REALLY REALLY cool cake from Grandma Ritchie. I can't believe he's already 4! He's turned into a little grown-up already. He is such a big help and so sweet. He wakes up every morning, picks out his clothes (and Reagan's), gets dressed, makes his bed, then wakes me up. He always picks up after himself and watches out for Reagan. I just love him so much....we are sure lucky to have him!
Back in Provo and a visit from France
This weekend, my cousin Kara came to visit from France. She has two sons, James and Thomas who were also here. We haven't seen each other for years and years so it was lots of fun. We went to the dinosaur museum and went swimming at my brother Aarons house. Kara made Rattatouille(sp?) after the kids heard she knew how. She claims to make the best in France, and I must say, it was very good! It was great to visit with her family and we all had a great time.
