You Are Chair-ished

I was feeling in a punny mood yesterday so I pulled out some oldie but goodie stamps to put together this simple card.  The chairs are from a 2010 Unity Kit of the Month set (!!!) and the sentiment is from one of the earliest Papertrey Ink sets that I bought.  I keep thinking I need to weed some of my older stuff out but when I try I end up making cards with what I dig up. It's like finding lost treasure!
I'm going to enter this is the Addicted to Stamps and More Any Occasion challenge because there's always an occasion to share love, encouragement and a pun!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Black) Papertrey Ink, (Cajun Craze, Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Chair from Sept 2010 KOM) Unity, (Sentiment from Chair-ished) Papertrey Ink
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Other:  (Nuvo Simply White Crystal Drops) Tonic

I had already made a card for this challenge when I stumbled upon this hilarious Unity stamp and just couldn't resist it so I went back to work.  I though this fun orange pattern would really make the mighty whiteys pop and also look bright and fresh!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

CASology #269

Welcome to Week 269 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

My immediate thought this week was of your basic grid - like graph paper.  However, unlike my talented teammates, I couldn't work out how to use this in a CAS design.  So I pondered further and came up with a power grid which distributes electricity and light bulbs use electricity!  I was pretty pleased with myself and also with the fact that this idea led me to dig out and dust off my Unity stamps.  I used to use these a lot but they have been sorely neglected as of late. Definitely time to revisit them!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

CASology #149

Welcome to Week 149 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

My card this week feels very Melissa-esque to me.  Our intrepid leader often creates the most fabulous one layer & one ink colour cards and she came to mind immediately when I put this little number together.  This has got to be the quickest card I've ever made.  I dithered about adding gems or embossing to it but in the end I decided that I liked it completely raw.

Your turn now.  Check out the gorgeousness from the design team ladies and then get craftin'!

Old As A Penny-Farthing

Therese Calvird has given us a super fun card to be inspired by over at the Muse challenge. How cute is that bike colored onto the Sticky Barc? It inspired me to pull out some birch wood veneer paper I got from Simon Says and haven't used yet. I thought the cheeky sentiment went perfectly with the old penny-farthing cycle and so am going to play along at the Naughty or Nice birthday challenge.  And because the cycle is a from a Hero Arts set I'm going to enter this in the Hero Arts Birthday Challenge in the Anything Goes category!  Whoop whoop for the triple threat card!  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Real Red, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Specialty Paper:  (Birch Wood Veneer Paper) Simon Says Stamp

More Inky Sky

Hi there!  I had fun with this card last week using Distress Inks and thought I'd break them out again for a card for the Keep It Simple Things with Wings challenge.  I used a Nestability die cut as a mask and managed to do this in one try without any ink seeping underneath!  Whoop whoop!  This Unity stamp is my favourite airplane image.  I haven't used my Unity goodies in ages.  I must break them out again.

I'm still hobbling a bit this week but it's not because of my shredded foot.  I started Couch to 5K training and am pretty sore but am determined to do this.  I joined a local group that does the program twice a year.  Here it's actually called Beat the Couch because during the 5K race that you do at the end of the training the coaches run the course pushing a couch on wheels and you have to try and beat the couch!  LOL!  It's a really good program with 9 training sessions a week to choose from (you have to do at least 3).  It also includes nutrition seminars, an appointment with a podiatrist and a discount coupon for a local sports store.  I joined with a friend and there are quite a few other people we know doing it as well so it's fun.  Well, not so fun when I'm gasping along but I feel good at the end (once I catch my breath!).  Initially I wasn't going to tell anyone about it but I figured the more people that know the more accountable I'll be so there you have it.  I have to complete it now because you all know about it!  :)

Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up

CAS(E) This Sketch #39

Welcome to Week 39 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by N@ Ali:

I've had this sweet Unity stamp for ages but this is the first time it's seen ink which lands it firmly in the NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) category!  I embossed it and coloured it with Copics and then added a few mats.  For some reason I always reach for newsprint type patterns when I use coffee images.  I guess in my mind coffee and newpapers are a classic pair!  I hope you'll check out the gorgeous designs by the rest of the DT on the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and then play along with us!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Sahara Sand, Early Espresso) Stampin' Up!

CASology #53

Welcome to Week 53 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

This Unity image came to mind immediately when I saw this week's cue word.  It didn't take too much digging to find it and using it meant I made my NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) quota for the day.  (Actually I used double the quota because this was the first inking for the Paper Smooches sentiment as well).  I did some shading with my Copics and found a small pattern for the frame which makes the ice cubes pop.  I kept the layout simple, classic and totally CAS!  Pop on over to the CASology blog to check out the rest of the super cool DT designs and then play along with us!

Bright Butterfly

Happy Friday, everyone!  Just popping in with a quick card to link up to Unity's Friends With Flair hop.  I played around a little bit with some Twinkling H2Os.  I need to play some more I think.  Perhaps I'll get a chance this weekend.  I've told Luis that I'll be holed up in the Craft Cave for the next two days as I have 3 big special orders to get done.  I'm crossing my fingers for rain so I'm not tempted out into the sunshine...  :)

Happy Bark-Day!

Back in late 2010 when I first started blogging I stumbled across a challenge called the Curtain Call Colour Challenge.  It was my first introduction to colour challenges and also to Stampin' Up colours. Unfortunately it was only 6 months later that the challenge closed.  My cards from that time are pretty cringe inducing but I learned a lot especially by studying the winners.  All this to say that the Curtain Call challenge will be returning!   It's now known as the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge and Stacey Schafer has been introducing the new "Crew Members" for the last week.  And let me tell you, it's an awesome crew so far!  The challenges don't start until July 15th but for now Stacey's got another challenge for us on her personal blog.

In honour of her birthday Stacy's having a Birthday Linky Party!  Create a birthday card, link it up, check out all the gorgeous entries and possibly win a prize.  Not a bad way to celebrate!  It's also a well timed challenge for me as I was asked to create a set of birthday cards for some puppies.  A breeder wants to send 1st birthday cards to the owners of the puppies from her last litter.  I decided to use the same layout and just change up the colours.  I dug into my stash and came out with the Lucky collection from Basic Grey (which apparently is so old I couldn't even find it on the retired list!).  I paper pieced these cute Unity pooches and Lawn Fawn party hats and added a Paper Smooches sentiment.  Love how they turned out!

Hey There, Sunshine!

Happy Saturday!  It's been a gorgeous sunshiny day here with just enough breeze to keep it comfortable.  Luis has been busy mowing the lawn and I took Atti for a swim and worked on some cards.  This one is for three challenges.  I used the sketch from Lisa Arana's Wanna Sketch? challenge, the sun theme from Keep It Simple and am joining in again with the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.  The sun is from a Unity KOM from 2009 - an oldie but goodie!  I love the sketchy look of it.  (And I don't mean sketchy like dodgy!!)  Now off to get dinner in the oven and take Mr. Atti for a walk since he spent most of the day sleeping off his swim.  Have a wonderful evening!

Cardstock:  (White, Blue) Bazzill, (Daffodil Delight) Stampin' Up

Hello Sweet Friend

Good morning!  Popping in quickly before I head off to work with a card for Unity's Friends With Flair hop and also an entry for the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.  I used this sweet panda from the April KOM and some ancient patterned paper - circa 2007.  Remember Paper Pizazz?  I always feel so virtuous when I use some really old stash!  LOL!  Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

CASology #45

Welcome to Week 45 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

As soon as I saw this week's cue word I knew I wanted to use this Unity sentiment.  I love it and it's been used more than a few times (like here and here).  Since I've used it with a crown before I decided to go for a different image and pulled out this chess piece from Fresh Squeezed Stamps.  I couldn't totally resist the crowns though as you can see from the patterned paper - some long hoarded DCWV paper at that!  Whoop whoop for using stash! Okay, your turn to show us some royal designs.  Check out the gorgeous parade of inspiration from the DT and then get craftin'!
