the good, the bad and some scrappy

just a quick one as it is kinda late. i have been mia for the last week as i was studying for a certification exam. and after 3 weeks of training, a week of downing cups of coffee and being a fixture in coffee shops with my heavy books, i passed!hubby has been supportive as always - keeping me company, pacifying me when i have bouts of anxiety attacks and generally making me laugh when i felt like hurling my books. i have the best husband.
the downside to this week was that my phone was stolen in our office. i left it on my desk while i went to lunch like i always do and someone swiped it. i was so upset because it was a gift from hubby. lesson learned.
i hate to end on a bad note so i will just talk a bit of my scrapping. during the week of the exam it took a lot of self-control for me not to scrap so i can focus on studying. so when the exam i planned to go on a scrapping frenzy. but alas, i had to work over the weekend. but i tried to get some scrapping time in between lulls. these are two lo's i finished over the weekend.
the first one is for sketchy thursday's gdt challenge. i love love love how everything turned out and the colors are close to our wedding motif.
the second one is for my mind's eye challenge #11:anything goes. i love this line and was loathe to cut it but i had to remind myself to use up my stuff.
anyway, it is getting late. i need to get some zzz's.

another one

i found out yesterday i won scrap inspire create's march sing me a song challenge. you can view the announcement here. this was such an unexpected but very welcome news. needless to say, i was so happy when i saw the announcement.
i am sharing one more lo i created for scrappersatsg challenge #32: alice in wonderland challenge. it took me a week to complete this - from cutting the papers, misting, painting, waiting for the mediums to dry, putting things in and taking them out. i love the layered look, i might try out one more this weekend. one of the members of scrappersatsg is celebrating here blogoversary. why don't you drop by here and give marix some love?
anyway, back to work for me.

finally an lo

i started 2010 with my mojo all fired up - i was even able to finish one lo every week. thanks mostly to my dt stint at scrapbook challenges. and then february happened - 14-hour workdays, making invites for a friends' recital (pictures to follow) and a commissioned work for 120 flowers for a wedding(yes, pictures to follow too). anyway, it's the middle of the march and i have no more excuse for not creating anything.
this is an entry for the ff. contests: prima's march bap, scrap inspire create's march sing me a song challenge and {create} make it happen's march banner challenge. anyway, i hope to create an lo or two this week. gotta meet the target i set for myself. have a great week ahead everyone.

it's the most wonderful time of the year

and counting down to our wedding, 1 month and 4 days to go. i've come across amazing finds during the course of the wedding preps and i have been hoarding for post-wedding projects. i am procrastinating as usual but i have a lot of things of my mind - a new adventure i plan to embark on and my sky's the limit wishlist. if you'll dream, might as well dream big, right? you'll never know who might read this (hello, hon!).

13-inch macbook pro

crossing my fingers i win the giveaway here.

on a separate but related note, i found this cute store in greenbelt 5, ac 632. if i had a store, this is how i would want to set it up - an assortment of odds and ends, unexpected finds and treasures randomly strewn about as if in a flea market or someone's attic. sigh. enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone. :)

thankful...

...for my faith and my relationship with my God...i would have come this far if it weren't for Him who gave me strength and carried me through all these
...for my husband who loves me just the way i am, making me want to be an even better person, for taking care of me and believing in me more than i believe in myself
...for my family, both the one i was born into and those that i have grown into, they have been a source of inspiration, support and joy for the past years and the years to come
...for this craft that has introduced me to a whole new world of friends and possibilities
...for my work that gives me a sense of accomplishment and a source of income
...for the blessings that have reminded me of how good He can be
...for the challenges that have broken me and allowed me to grow in obedience and faith

happy birthday cj!do drop by her
blog to greet her on her special day...

adthis + basb

i was fortunate enough to have my lo picked for ad this april 13 challenge, you can view the announcement here. aside from the lovely rak from elisa, i also had the chance to play with them for the april 27 ad. the challenge was to use the ad below as inspiration and use dimension in your layout. i created the flower from a tutorial in the cosmo cricket site. i love how it turned out so i might be making more of this. i also created the pleated flower which i used as a backing for the letter b in my title. the glitter i used for the chipboard swirl created a bit of mess but i think it was worth it. for the layers of flowers on the upper left portion of the picture, i had to spray glimmer mist to get the exact shade of pink that i needed. and oh yes, we weren't really bridesmaids, we were part of the secondary sponsors. but bridesmaids make a better title, doesn't it?

adthis 27 gdt + basb challenge #11

when i was looking at my lo, i realized it had all the elements for basb challenge #11 that i wanted to join in. we were asked to use something old, something new, something, borrowed and something blue for the wedding. here's my list.

something old: the fuschia organza ribbon i used is part of my ribbon scrap stash, i had it since last year when i was picking out swatches for our wedding. and of course, the butterfly stamp - i have been using it for ages.

something new: new techniques i tried were the paper flowers at the bottom right and the pleated flower i used as backing for my title. picked up tutorials for noth techniques over the web.

something borrowed: the picture was borrowed from the photographer of my friend's wedding.

something blue: well, the rhinestones on the butterfly, one of the flowers on the upper left corner, the pleated flower and of course the patterned paper running in the middle of the page.
