As many of you have probably noticed and already mentioned by now, J.Crew is very excited about the prices of some of their new arrivals. So much so that they highlight the item with "Freak Out Price" labels. (Which is very different then the "Best Seller" labels they have for some time now.)
Not sure how I feel about it but it certainly caught my attention. I am also not sure if I am freaking out by the price points, as they are still relatively high.
What are your thoughts on the label? Did it work and get you to buy?

J.Crew Updates Website Back End {customer reviews and more!}
As many of you have noticed and commented, including Tiffany Rose (in this
post), J.Crew has a major back-end update to its website today. Unfortunately, as many of you have noticed and commented, expect a log of bugs and hiccups in the system today... Things appearing and disappearing on product pages, pages not loading, etc.
What is new? First, customer reviews are up and running on the site. They can either be spotted on the upper right hand side of the page -and- beneath the product info.
Customers can rate the item overall (out of five stars), overall fit (whether its true to size), in addition to their opinion. Similar to other sites, including their sister company Madewell.
Overall, I am super excited about this feature. I was actually interested in the Pleated Knit Dress this morning and read several reviews that all said how the fabric was too thin. I was able to make an educated decision on whether or not this dress would be good for me and avoided the dreaded buy/return. Moreover, I was on the fence about the Patio Skirt in Photo Floral Skirt and the reviews were glowing making me get it. Yey for customer reviews!!!
As I was placing an order this morning, it was mentioned that the distribution center / online and in-store inventories are now mainstreamed into one system. Therefore, online now reflects all of J.Crew's inventory. Moreover, J.Crew will *no* longer be offering the "we will find it" service since online will now show all available merchandise.
We have seen how this works already as J.Crew tested out this feature in the past few months. (Remember ordering online and getting an item fulfilled from a retail store.) I am wondering if we should be expecting most orders to be broken up into lots of mini-orders- shipping from across the country? Or... If items from stores will be shipped to distribution centers and then packaged/shipped to customers?
What are your thoughts on the new and improved J.Crew? Do you like or dislike the new system?

Wait Listing Items with J.Crew
"Thanks!" to Jane (in this
post), who shared the following personal story with J.Crew:
I will say, I have definitely noticed that purchases are not fulfilled in the order they are received. (I hope this last part makes sense. Just because I am the first to order an item does not mean my order will be fulfilled and shipped out first. Which kind of sucks, because it should be first come first served. But I am rambling now...)
Reading Jane's issue got me thinking about the website "upgrade" and whether her experience will become the norm from now on. (Incidentally, I think the associate who spoke to her should have looked into the order and sent her the tee right away. I mean, why should she wait if its available?? What's the point of pre-ordering anything then.)
Have you ordered a wait listed item recently? Have you been receiving them on time? Let us know your experience!
I ordered the lace sleeve tee in sky back in March. It was on backorder until May. Last week I saw that it is no longer on backorder and when I put several in my cart it said "in stock". I called and was told that for people who ordered after me it was available for shipment but that for me I still have to wait for May 11th., the only option they offered me was to cancel the order, reorder the top, then call them with the new order number so they could waive the shipping and apply whatever discount code I had originally used in March. ...This story got me thinking about items that I have purchased with J.Crew that have been back ordered... And my experiences have ranged from (1) getting the item earlier than the anticipated date, (2) getting the item even latter than expected, (3) getting price adjusted without asking (yey!), (4) having my item canceled with and without notification. I can't remember if I experienced a situation where it was available and my order was not being fulfilled. (That would bother me a bit too!)

J.Crew Updates Website Design {crap}
"Thanks!" to many of you, including November Jones (in this
post), who noticed and commented on J.Crew's "improved" layout design that took place during the last rollout of new arrivals.
In addition to the new header announcing promotions and offers, many of you noticed that the sale section get revamped. The new layout (shown above) still offers customers a way to drill down by category, size, etc. However, it no longer allows customers to choose how many items they can see at once.
The old layout shown below, seems a lot better to me. Why? Because it is easier to navigate, easier to sort, easier to see multiple items on one page. Under the old layout, I only had to browse 21 pages. Under the new layout, I have to browse twice as many.
Now, this just might be a case of familiarity. I recognize that time and usage may change my mind. However, right now I am missing the old layout. In my opinion, this is a downgrade...
What are your thoughts on the layout change to J.Crew's website? Do you think it is an "upgrade" or "downgrade"?
Quick Poll: Do you like J.Crew's new layout online?

Customers Can Pay with MasterPass at JCrew.com!
Many of you noticed a new payment feature on J.Crew's checkout screen: MasterCard's MasterPass.
The following is a press release about it found on Market Watch (click here to read in its entirety):
J.CREW and MasterCard Enhance Consumer Online Checkout Ahead of Holiday SeasonFirst things first... Did Jenna Lyons really say "MasterPass has paved the road to easy"? Because that is a phrase I cannot picture her saying... Or at least without giggling.
J.Crew Online Shoppers Can Now Use MasterPass(R) at Checkout
November 4, 2013
For those looking to get a head start on their holiday shopping, J.Crew and MasterCard are making it a little simpler at jcrew.com. Starting in November, consumers can take advantage of MasterPass(TM) at checkout. This digital wallet service enables shoppers to use any payment card or enabled device to unlock a simplified and speedier checkout experience whether they're at home, in a store or on the go.
With MasterPass, shoppers can pay for the things they want with the security they demand, through the simple click of a mouse, touch of a tablet or tap of a smartphone. The wallet securely stores shoppers preferred payment and shipping information which is readily accessible when they click on the Buy with MasterPass button and log into their account.
"The world of online shopping is changing rapidly. Customers want ease and simplicity. MasterPass has paved the road to easy," said Jenna Lyons, president and executive creative director, J.Crew. "We were thrilled to partner with MasterCard and to be one of the first to share in this new technology."
"The Master Card team put together a great campaign to support the launch of MasterPass and we are thrilled to be partnering on such an exciting initiative, especially during the busy holiday shopping season."
The introduction of MasterPass at the J.Crew online checkout will be supported by an integrated marketing program that includes the launch of a new advertising spot - the first for MasterPass and J.Crew - focused on J.Crew's seasonal offerings and highlighting MasterPass as shoppers' shortcut to online holiday shopping at J.Crew. The program will also encompass digital and social initiatives set to kick off in November.
"We've all experienced the frustration of attempting to quickly input payment and shipping information when shopping online only to receive repeated error messages," said Michael Cyr, group executive, U.S. Customer Delivery, MasterCard. "MasterPass eliminates this by providing shoppers with a faster, easier online checkout enhancing their shopping experience and leaving them more time to enjoy the things that matter most."
Cardholders can sign up at www.masterpass.com/jcrew or by clicking on the 'Buy with MasterPass' button when checking out at www.jcrew.com starting this November. As MasterPass continues to evolve, J.Crew online customers will be provided additional tools and engagement mechanisms to further enhance their shopping experience through intelligent, easy-to-use offerings.
MasterPass is a digital service that allows consumers to use any payment card or enabled device to discover enhanced shopping experiences that are as simple as a click, tap or touch - online, in-store or anywhere. The MasterPass suite of services includes: MasterPass checkout services to provide merchants a consistent way to accept electronic payments regardless of where the consumer may be; MasterPass-connected wallets to enable banks, merchants and partners to offer their own wallets; and, MasterPass value added services to enrich the shopping experience before, during and after checkout.
Second, I am intrigued about J.Crew & MasterCard's integrated marketing campaign. Not sure what it exactly consists of, but I will be keeping an eye out for it. UPDATE: "Thanks!" to WMM (in this post)who shared with us the video above, as well as BuzzFeed's "J.Crew Is Airing Its First National Television Ad" article. The following are some tidbits worth sharing:
...The retailer, which says the video above is its first national TV ad, is running a marketing campaign with MasterPass, the digital payment platform that MasterCard introduced in February. Like other digital wallet apps, customers can store their billing and shipping information in MasterPass — whether it’s MasterCard, Visa, American Express and so on — to avoid reentering the data, in a bid to make online shopping more seamless. ...As for MasterPass itself, it sounds like it just stores your credit information. J.Crew already stores credit card information online for a speedy checkout. So I am not clear on what are the advantages with MasterPass. If someone could explain the benefits, which I think I am missing, I would love to know.
The 30-second spot showcases J.Crew’s holiday collection — complete with square frames — through a family photo shoot. ...
It will air on network and cable TV from Nov. 4 through Dec. 8th, as well as on YouTube and Hulu.
What are your thoughts on MasterPass and J.Crew? Have you already utilized this newest payment feature? If so, please share! :)

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa & JRSConifer (in this
post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online). There are over 200 new arrivals on the website!
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The May catalog (click here to view) is still available to view. However, the new June catalog (with Liya Kebede on location in Tanzania) is not up yet. This catalog will probably be available online in another week or two.
In the meantime, J.Crew is sending out the newest catalog to customers (and available at many J.Crew stores).
Plus, J.Crew is running a new stacked promotion: $30 off $150+, $50 off $200+, and $75 off $250+ with promotional code SHOPNOW. This offer expires Sunday, May 26, 2013. The fine print includes:
The latest roll-out includes the Ratti Regatta Short (item 68384; $98.00) which J.Crew shares: "Straight from the storied archives of Italy's Ratti print house (our go-to source for one-of-a-kind prints), this sunny sailboat motif first popped up in our summer '06 collection." I remember this print from 2006 (and I believe it was on a full shaped skirt.)
The Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a decent update this morning for Women (930+ items) and Men (360+). There are a number of older (somewhat random) pop-backs.
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

Because a lot of older prints are resurfacing.

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including Suzy & Mel (in this
post) , AudreyBella (in this
post) , ReaganFlowers (in this
post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website yesterday (click here to view online). (Apologies for not keeping up with the J.Crew news this week... it's a crazy time of year for me right now.)
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). According to the email J.Crew sent, over 85 new items made it online.
What is even more exciting is that the May catalog (click here to view) is available to view. It is always nice to see the new arrivals match up with the current catalog. This way I can see the items in as many different photos as possible. :)
What I am loving!
Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a decent update this morning for Women (885+ items) and Men (250+). It looks like several new items have made it to the sale section. As many of you have already experienced, the good stuff is selling out quickly. Things in my shopping cart are disappearing before I can even log into my account to buy them!
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

What I am loving!
- Collection Featherweight Cashmere Anchor Sweater (Item 51286; $248.00). Let's just get this out of the way, the price point on this sweater is unrealistic for me. However, I love the whole concept of this sweater: nautical stripes with a red anchor. It screams Summer perfection!
- Perfect Shirt in Linen Dot (Item 43400; $88.00). It's a pretty simple shirt but the look is a classic!
- Silk-Trim Maxidress (Item 01174; $110.00). This is my favorite item from the latest rollout. I love maxi dresses and this one not only looks chic, it looks comfortable. I would like one in all the colors offered, please.
- Collection Safari Sweater (Item 68737; $168.00). I am surprised this is sold out already! It's not that the print isn't cute, but it doesn't seem like an item I could get a lot of wear from.
- Virginia Johnson for J.Crew Tote (Item 01688; $148.00). I know what you are thinking, why would this adorable tote make the "pass list"?!? It's not because of the print (which I adore in both the lobster and shark). It's because of the price. I am sorry, but $150 for a tote? A canvas tote? Please.

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ruth (in this post), as well as unknown (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). Fortunately, the latest catalog (click here to view) is available to view.
J.Crew sent an email out this morning announcing that there are over 50 new arrivals for the Spring Collection. Even though this looks like a smaller roll out of new arrivals, there are still quite a few new things to check out.
My first top pick is the Barbados Dress (item 46133; $168.00). First, the print is adorable and a complete throwback to J.Crew's playful location prints from the past (click here). They even mention it in the description: "...which sports a punchy tropical map motif from our summer '06 line that seems to bring warm weather with it wherever it goes..." Loves it! Second, I love the shape of the dress which is very lady-like. Perfect for shopping with friends or a Summer date with a loved one.
My second pick is the Golden Charm Bracelet (item 01772; $118.00). This piece is another throw-back to J.Crew's earlier charm bracelets. What is not to love about this current version with its Summer theme (including pineapple and palm tree charms). The gold tones make this bracelet a great accessory for any outfit.
Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1040+ items) and Men (385+). It looks like several new items have made it to the sale section.
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

My top pick is still the Stripe Necklace Sweater (item 86132; $148). What is not to love about a sweater that includes its own accessory. The built-in necklace takes out the guesswork of what to wear with the top. The only down side? Dry clean only. I can only imagine what would happen to the crystals in a washing machine... not good.
My other thoughts on what I love:
Exciting news! J.Crew is offering free shipping on all orders (no min!) with promo code FREESHIP. This amazing offer expires March 3, 2013.
Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1140+ items) and Men (495+).
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). Unfortunately, the latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.

My other thoughts on what I love:
- Silk-Collar Tee (item 59448; $75.00): Just a simple short sleeve top with a simple peter pan collar. But I love it. It seems so perfectly chic. I will take one in both colors please!
- Peony Tee (item 99196; $45.00): J.Crew was known for coming out with the best designed tees for Women. However, the past couple of years the designs were meh. Well, they are making a comeback with this adorable top. The design is so pretty, I want to frame it!
- Bright Droplet Necklace (item 01165; $58.00): This necklace reminds me of one J.Crew offered in yellow many years ago. It is such a delicate, lovely piece! I must not be the only one who likes this piece because it is already wait-listed.
- Enameled Dolphin Bangle (item 76949; $98.00): Not only do I love the colors and the overall jewel design, it is shaped like a dolphin. This bracelet is adorable!
- Hugo Guinness for J.Crew Cashmere Terrier Sweater (item 38838; $398.00): Much like the "Darling" sweater, it's cute. It reminds me of J.Crew's Scottie Sweater (which I own and love!) But not at that price. Yikes!
- Collection Dot Gauze Shell (item 31940; $128.00): Is it just me, or does this top look see-through? No thank you. Pass for me.
- Indigo Floral Quilted Jacket (item 63825; $228.00): I saw this jacket in my local store. The print is very pretty and the fabric is very soft. However, all I could think about it was that it looks like a Vera Bradley print.
- Lightweight Washed Chambray Dress (item 52424; $118.00): Good luck J.Crew selling this sack-of-potatoes dress! I have no doubt a JCA could make this look fabulous with the right accessories and layering. But by itself, this dress is a hot mess.
- Let's Bring Back By Lulu Frost Impromptu Necklace (item 89075; $360.00). One word: Yuk.

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals! {maybe?}
It looks like J.Crew had a {small} update to its website (click here to view online). (I could not tell at first. I had to compare the current screen to its predecessor in the last post, where there is a small difference. Honestly, I am not even 100% sure there is enough new merchandise to say there is an update in new arrivals. ;) What do you all think?)
Update: "Thanks!" to Suzy (in this post) who confirmed there was a small update online!
There is a nice feature on the website that showcases the Spring 2013 Shoe Collection (click here). There are a lot of drool-worthy eye candy. I am personally in love with all the variations of the Janey Flats, like the Collection Janey Jeweled Bow Snakeskin Flats (item 01081; $375.00).
Plus, J.Crew has a tiny update to their Final Sale section online (click here)
earlier this morning. Some merchandise increase for everyone (a jump from 615+ to 670+ for
Women and 220+ for Men). Frankly, it was not worth the wait. Hopefully, tomorrow morning will be a better update. :)

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including JulieStyles (in this post), as well as GigiOfCa, JCrewGal, & Ruth (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view on J.Crew's website. However, it is being mailed out to customers this week. I was able to get mine the other day. (I know, so quick!) There is one page (page 6 to be exact) where the model is wearing a cardigan backwards. With the exception of that styling move, the catalog is pretty nice.
This time around, I am very excited about the new arrivals! There are a lot, and I do mean a lot, of things that I can't wait to check out. Since there are quite a few things I am crushing on, I will make a quick list:
- Gilded Brocade (Item 39975; $150.00) — This top looks absolutely stunning thanks to its brocade design. It might be because I am use to J.Crew's crazy pricing, but this top looks more expensive then its price!
- Translucent Stone Necklace (Item 59823; $95.00) — So simple, so perfect! The glass stones are the perfect size and color for Spring!
- Collection Spring Modern Toggle Coat (Item 71161; $575.00) — I have enough Winter coats, but this one in Festive Red is making me reconsider if I should get another one. Absolutely beautiful!
- Tartine Satchel in Colorblock (Item 53166; $325.00) — They have done it again! J.Crew creates gorgeous handbags and this is no exception. What an absolutely "must-have" bag with its perfectly-over-the-shoulder handle length. Plus it comes with a shoulder strap and interior snap-off wristlet pouch, bonus!
- Darby Printed Loafers in Leopard (Item 42185; $168.00) — The slipper style paired up with the leopard print is amazing. What's that, there is an interior wedge for extra height? Swoon.
- Mini Medallion Tie Neck (Item 31427; $198.00) — This dress looks like last year's Polka-Dot Tie-Neck Dress (Item 97186; $198.00). Consider me sold on it!
- Schoolboy Blazer in Mixed Stripe (Item 39921; $198.00) — I love the striped jacket! Especially since they have a coordinated stripe pattern inside the jacket: clever!
- Schoolboy Blazer in Liberty in June's Medow Print (Item 47924; $225.00) — The classic blazer now comes in the most lovely flower pattern from Liberty. Pretty!
J.Crew is also offering free shipping (no min!) with promo code FREESHIP. This offer expires Sunday, February 3, 2013.
Plus, J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale section online (click here) earlier this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (1060+ for Women and 440+ for Men). However, there is no "additional percent off sale" available anymore. Bummer!
What items are you most excited
about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to
see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including Karen, as well as rynetta PhD (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website last Thursday (click here to view online). Apologies for not realizing (and posting!) this sooner. For some reason, I did not notice it.
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).
Finally, the latest catalog (click here to view) is available to view on J.Crew's website.
My top pick from the new arrivals is a classic striped top with a twist thanks to the playful neckline: the Peter Pan Merino Sweater in Stripe (item 36078; $89.50). I love both "navy nector" and "silver ivory" versions. I can't wait to check this one out in person!
As for jewelry... The Tortoise and Brass Link Necklace (item 56265; $110.00 ) is already on back-order! It looks similar to the previously offered Resin and Rhinestone Link Necklace (item 52029; $85.00). I own the latter necklace in the tortoise shade and it so pretty thanks to the rhinestones on the links.
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including Life as a Cat (in this
post), as well as Tiffany Rose (in this
post),who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). No surprise here, but the latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.
PROMOTIONAL CODES! J.Crew is offering free shipping on any order with promo code FREESHIP. This offer ends Sunday, December 30, 2012. This promotion is no where near as great as the promotions we have seen in the past few weeks. But at least it is something! :)
"Thanks!" to Rose (in this post) who let us know that J.Crew is offering Canadian customers an additional 30% off Sale items with promo code BOXING30. This offer ends Monday, December 31, 2012.
Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1330+ items) and Men (530+). :) Although right now, many items are ghost pages (as they already sold out). :(
Interesting: Also, did anyone catch that the Sale section is NOT Final Sale on the main sale page? I quickly checked and most items are showing up as Final Sale, however some others are not. Not sure what is going on here...

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!
"Thanks!" to many of you, including JSR, Nancy, & GigiOfCa (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view. However, J.Crew did include the annual Gift Guide (click here) for all members of the family.
As for new arrivals... I think I really like the Giant Bow Sweater (item 32831; $98.00). Of course, I need to see this in person to try on. From the product shot, the giant bow looks super fun! It is perfectly in position and I never have to worry about it becoming undone.

More exciting news! J.Crew is extending their offer for 25% and free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code OURTREAT. This amazing offer expires today.
Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1660+ items) and Men (600+). Better yet? The dreaded Final Sale is gone... YEY!!!
Incidentally, the image above is the one used for the email sent out this morning announcing the new arrivals. I think this image would have been perfect for the cover of the December 2012 catalog. Much more festive, with bright pops of color. I can also see a beautiful outfit! At least it gives me hope that inside the catalog will be pretty to look at. :)
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
