J.Crew Catalogs of Yore {eye candy time!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Robin, as well as LilyBart (in this post), who let us know that there are several images of J.Crew's older catalogs over at Into the Gloss. (Click here to view all the vintage images of J.Crew.) Below are just a few of my favorite images.

 * Gorgeous and stylish for today!
 * I want this skirt!
*Remember how the catalogs would bring a special offer code on the front?

What image is your favorite? Are there any styles you are happy to no longer see? Any styles you would like to see back? If so, please share! :)

J.Crew Catalog + Dawson's Creek {memories!}

"Thanks!" to so many of you, including JulieFromChicago (in this post), as well as Robin & emmawasabi, who let us know about the following catalog flashback.

There is an original 1998 catalog from J.Crew, featuring the cast of Dawson's Creek, for sale on eBay (click here for original listing). The {ridiculous} price tag caught some attention over at the BuzzFeed (check out their "The Beautiful 1998 “Dawson's Creek” J. Crew Catalog" post for more photos!) and Refinery29 (check out their "American Dream: 1998 J.Crew Catalog Starring Dawson's Creek") post.

The cast (Joshua Jackson, James "Put Your Cheek in a Beek" Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, and Michelle Williams) look so young in the photos!

I actually remember getting this catalog in the mail. I also remember really loving all the sweaters and tops on Katie. Looking back at the pictures now, I can't believe how dated some of the looks are (in particular, the jeans Dawson wears). J.Crew's style really has come a long way!

What are your thoughts on the catalog? Do you remember when J.Crew sent this catalog out? Do you like the looks? Are the styles dated?

J.Crew of Seasons Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This post features the Wool Herringbone Jacket in Pink. I want to say this jacket is from 2005. In any case, the ladylike silhouette makes it a classic in anyone's wardrobe.

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

This post features the Merino Wool Peacoat Sweater. The gold buttons and belt are a lovely detail for this adorable sweater. I also can't help but love the smile... we need to see more of those on J.Crew's models.

This post features an ad used for the Double-Faced Wool Lexington Jacket (Item 85798; $250.00) from 2007. I know, I know. Enough about this jacket. But the jacket is timeless. I also think the outfit is something I can easily see on a store mannequin today.

J.Crew Catalog Flashback {1995}

J.Crew posted on their Facebook page and their 770 Blog (click here) their catalog cover from Fall of 1995!

Even though the outfit is dated, there is something still very cool and laid back about it.

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's old school catalog cover? Would you rock the look above? ;) Please share!

This post features the Toulouse Silk-Ruffle Jacket with romantic silk ruffle trim all over. The sweater meets jacket came in a 12-gauge wool knit, which meant it would last more than a few wearings!

As an aside, I love the model used for this look! J.Crew used her quite a bit in 2007 and frankly, they need to bring her back!

This post features a dress from J.Crew's Holiday 2006 collection. I do not know anything about it (name or item number or cost). But what I do know is that I want it! Besides the classic shape, it features a darling peter pan collar (which is all over J.Crew's current Fall 2012 offerings). Check out the length of the skirt too... it hits the knees! I am in love!!!

J.Crew of Seasons Past: July 2004 & Spring 2005

Fellow JCA Shariyu, from the lovely "viva la beagle" blog, posted the catalogs for both July 2004 and Spring 2005! To see all the images, check out her "JCREW JULY 2004" and "JCREW Summer 2005" posts.

Remember when the catalog covers use to bring a special offer like $20 off an order of $80+? Those were the days! J.Crew still offers special codes in catalogs (but they tend to be mailed to new customers).

Flipping through the pages, it is clear how far J.Crew has come in terms of style. J.Crew definitely is more fashion-forward today with their style guide. But there is still a lot of love for the older catalogs as they feature classic items that stand the test of time. (J.Crew still offers some of those same basic staples today!)

What are your thoughts on these catalogs from the past? Do you enjoy looking through them for outfit inspirations? Do you find these looks classic (like I do) or do you think they are dated?
