Let me be frank with you!
(To the tune of Edelweiss)
Weasel words, weasel words,
Used each day to deceive you.
Small white lies hide your trail
And make folk loath to believe you.
A surplus of words
Obscures what’s occurred
The truth has left the station.
Weasel words, weasel words,
Haunt your reputation.
(repeat)

I think you are being unfair to weasels. It's the dragons I don't trust.
ReplyDeleteI think you are being unfair to edelweiss. Couldn't you have written about leeks or jonquils or something?
ReplyDeleteI prefer the weasels, the dragons, the eidelweiss, the leeks and the jonquils to the self important strangers to the truth.
ReplyDeleteClever use of opposites (edelweiss-weasel words)
ReplyDeleteOpposites? Edelweiss and an electric jig saw perhaps, weasels and Mother Teresa, certainly but I must confess I had never thought of the yin and yang of edelweiss and weasels. Pure lack of imagination on my part.
Deleteindeed 9/11 is a haunting
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Wide of the mark Gillena - this is a cleverly hidden lament on the Chinese kidnapping of Harold Holt off Portsea beach. You forced me to reveal this but I will deny it if pressed.
DeleteI wonder why weasels should accept such slander... I think liars are much worse than any carnivore, or rat.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough life, weaseldom.
DeleteThis made me smile..."The truth has left the station." That's for sure. I sang your poem in my head, and thought about the daily "news"....so many words, words, words............I enjoyed YOUR words.
ReplyDeleteI sang along and I applaud your aplomb!
ReplyDeleteHmm...inretesting take ...well written
ReplyDeleteThis is also the perfect parody for this damned election season, no matter which candidate one supports. I want truth, unvarnished!! Thanks, Cos. Love, Amy
