Michelle Perkett Studio Mary Margaret Teacher's Pet

We have a new Midweek Throwdown challenge starting today at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps, the theme is "Back To School".  I know, I know, our kids just got out of school but cards for Operation Write Home need to be made up and sent in to our shippers in advance because they have a long way to travel.

I'm sharing some of my "Back To School" cards today to hopefully inspire you to play along.

These cards were made when I was on Michelle Perkett and The Stamping Boutique's design teams.

I really enjoyed creating them and thought it would be fun to have another look at them today.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

It's my time to say a fond farewell to Michelle and the girls on the team, it's been a wonderful experience for me.  Michelle is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and the girls on our team are wonderfully creative and just as sweet.  I'll make sure to visit your blogs and check in on you from time to time.

Michelle Perkett Studio Cupcake Carmen

My card today is for our challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio, the challenge theme is "Your Choice" more of an anything goes with a Michelle Perkett Studio digital image kind of challenge.

I used Carmen Cupcake for my card, she's colored with Copic markers BG10, BG15, R02, E00, E000, Y11, Y13, Y15, E41, E43, E44, E47, E49 E33 and cut out with a Spellbinders die and matted with an oval Spellbinders die.  I kept the layout simple to showcase Carmen, added embossing with Sizzix and Cuttlebug embossing folders and some Dew Drops. The sentiment is from Verve Visual and the dots around Carmen are from a Waltzing Mouse set.

I hope you'll join us in our challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio this week.

Michelle Perkett Studio Queen of Hearts

Our challenge today at Michelle Perkett Studio is "Passing A Note" Valentine theme and I'm using Michelle's latest release the Queen of Hearts for my card.

To make it easier for myself to color I sized the image to be 3 3/4" X 5" and also to just fit on my A2 card with a few layers.  The Queen is colored with Copic markers YG13, YG17, T1, T2, T3, E00, E000, B0000, E44, E49, R22, R24, R27, YR23, YR24 and the sentiment is a rubber stamp from Touche' Rubber Stamps.

Michelle Perkett Studio Mary Margaret Valentine

Have you started making your Valentine cards yet?  I've been thinking about my kids Valentines for their classes, do they still do that in 5th grade?  I know my 4th grader will need some, he has his sister's teacher from last year.

Today's card might be a nice one for my daughter.  I used Michelle Perkett's Mary Margaret digital image and modified her just a little.  She's really holding an apple in her hands but these hearts from a Quickutz die work well.  I added Stickles and then covered it with Glossy Accents after the Stickles dried a little.

Mary Margaret is colored with Copic markers E44, E40, RV02, RV00, E00, E000, E44, E47, E49, E31, I used a Spellbinders heart and scalloped heart die to cut her out and matte her.  The little hearts above her are the left over from a Taylored Expressions heart border die I used on a different card, the embossing folder is made by Sizzix, the ribbon is by May Arts and I'm pretty sure the border punch I used is by Martha Stewart.  The papers are Neenah Solar White, Neenah Red Linen & Papertrey Ink Hibiscus Burst.

The challenge today over at our Michelle Perkett Studio blog is "All That Bling", I think I'll go enter my card!

Challenges:
Michelle Perkett Studio - All That Bling

Michelle Perkett Studio Birthday Flower Cupake

For my card today I used Michelle Perkett Studio Happy Birthday Flower Cupcake digital image and some newly discovered digital papers from My Grafico.  I colored the digital image with Copic markers E42, E43, E47, Y13, RV00, RV02, RV04, RV13 and cut it out.

The layout is SC314 from Splitcoaststampers up ended.  I attached the cupcake to a panel of cream linen and stamped "happy birthday" from a Papertrey Ink clear stamp set.

Have you ever wondered about Hybrid cards?  I actually looked up "hybrid" at dictionary.com and didn't get a clear answer as to what I was thinking - card making hybrids.  So here's my definition:  the combination of two different yet similar art forms in the same creation, i.e. rubber and digital stamping.

And then there are those cards I've been having so much fun making using pre-colored digital images and digital paper.  Are those hybrids or are they just a print job?

It's all fun and games until someone like me starts asking silly questions!

We have a sketch challenge going on at our Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blog you still have time to play in!

Michelle Perkett Studio Puppy Love

I have two blog posts again today!

We have a sketch challenge starting today at our Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blog!  I made my card using the sketch with Michelle's Puppy Love digital image.

This cute pup is colored with Copic markers E42, E43, E44, R21, R22, R35, R37 cut out with a Spellbinders square die and matted with Kraft cardstock on another square.  The other cardstocks are Stampin' Up! Cameo Coral, Thepapermill.com's Cranberry and Neenah Solar White.  The little tag is from a Spellbinders die and the sentiment is from one of my Papertrey Ink stamp sets.  I added a button to the tag after enhancing it a little with my R37 marker and threaded some crochet thread through it and tied a tiny bow.  The embossing folder is new to me it's the Stampin' Up! lattice made by Sizzix I've been wanting but been too cheap to buy!

My friend Dagmar brought it to me yesterday morning along with a bunch of other goodies.  One of those goodies was a mini sewing machine I can't wait to play with.  It's good to have crafty friends!  Thank you Dagmar!!!

Michelle Perkett Studio Art Deco Lady New Release

I have a new release image from Michelle Perkett Studio to share with you today, she's called Art Deco Lady!

I was blog browsing the other day and saw a color challenge at Stampin' Royalty that caught my eye and decided to try it and loved it!  The color combination below is from their blog.

I did have to modify my colors ever so slightly as I don't have any of the Stampin' Up! newest colors.  I used Stampin' Up! Eggplant Envy, Taken With Teal & Old Olive.

Michelle's Art Deco Lady is colored with Copic markers to match the Stampin' Royalty challenge colors YG93, YG95, BG10, BG11, BG15, BG15, BG18, R02, E00,. E000, E04, E31, E44, E47, E49 cut out with a Spellbinders long skinny rectangle and matted on a long skinny scalloped rectangle.  I also used a couple of Cuttlebug embossing folders and a Martha Stewart punch for the butterfly to which I added some rhinestones.

There's still time to enter into our Fairytale challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio blog too!

Challenges:
Stampin' Royalty - Color Challenge

Michelle Perkett Studio Sleepy Time Fairy

Are you ready for Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blogs next challenge?  The challenge starts today and run till Monday, January 17th and it's "Fairy Tale Cards".

For my card I had this cute Sleepy Time Fairy already colored and waiting for me in a file.  I love those kind of surprises!  She's colored with Copic markers Y11, Y15, Y18, R22, E31, D25, E49, E59, Goooo, Gooo, Goo, Go2, Eoo, Eooo.  My layout is Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps sketch #51.  I also used some of my Spellbinders dies and Cuttlebug embossing folders.  The three Dew Drops were clear and I colored the backs of them with Copic marker E49.

Oh, my color combination is kind of weird for me.  Sandy from Operation Write Home shipped my kids a box of cardstock a few months ago and they cleaned out there rooms, guess who they gave the cardstock to?  The yellow is Stampin' Up!  Summer Sun, Brown is Nut Brown, white is Neenah Solar White and the green...  I've had it before I think it came from Staples.  None the less it's about the same tone as Stampin' Up! Mint Melody.  Do you remember Stampin' Up! Mint Melody?  It was a long time ago, lol.

Anyway... I hope you'll have time this week to play in our challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio!

Michelle Perkett Studio Goldilocks

I can't believe I've been part of Michelle's design team almost 6 months and I haven't colored her Goldilocks yet.  There are so many wonderful digital images to choose from I hadn't gotten around to her yet... until today!

So, this image is Goldilocks by Michelle Perkett Studio, she's colored with Copic markers E00, E000, R02, E34, E31, Y32, E43, B12, B21, B24, B28 and cut out with Spellbinders rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies.  The layout is sketch #50 from Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps last Sunday.  I also used the My Favorite Things Stamps large ric rac die and matted them with basic black just to make them pop a little more.  I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the light blue panel and added 3 black half pearls to balance it out.  The cardstock I used is Basic Black, Neenah Solar White 80#, Stampin' Up! Brilliant Blue & Bliss Blue.  I know... SU Bliss Blue has be retired forever but I still had some!

You still have time to enter into our challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio, it's anything goes using one of Michelle's images!

Michelle Perkett Studio Pearl

I hope you are having a wonderful New Year's Day with your family and friends!  I'm late with my Michelle Perkett Studio post because I'm a little distracted today...  I'll tell you more about that in a minute.

For my card today I used Pearl by Michelle Perkett, she's colored with Copic markers BG10, BG11, BG13, E00, E000, R02, E31, E25, E49, E59, R21, R22, R24, R27, Y11, Y13, Y18, E04.  My layout began with a sketch and morphed from there.  I used Stampin' Up! Cameo Coral, SU Summer Sun and Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist with Basic Black and Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Cuttlebug Swiss Dots & Swirls embossing folders and three black half pearls for a finishing touch.

And now, the distraction...

Maxine the wonder pup...  I wrote a blog post about her that will post tomorrow, Sunday - January 2nd.

We've been out in the yard playing ball.  We have bright sunshine and about 50 degree weather today, she's loving it!

It's good exercise for her human "Mom" too.

Happy New Year!

Looking Back - A Year In Review

I took a little time today and reviewed my blog for 2010.  I started back in January 2010 and scanned through each page rather quickly, wow... the memories...

I thought I'd like to take time today to share some of those memories with you.

I'd almost forgotten my friend Susan and I went to the CHA Consumer show in Anaheim California last January.  We had a great time, I won 1300 yards of ribbon from Offray!

The battle I was having with the contractor to finish my kitchen cabinets came to an end.
When I filed a lawsuit against him and took him to court.
Hired a new contractor to finish the job.
We made it to court in April 2010.  The judge heard our case and told us she'd take 5 or 6 weeks to make a decision.
When we got home from court that day my new contractor wanted to come over and finish installing my table.  He told me I'd never guess who his next job was.  Nope, never in a million years...  The judge who I'd just been in front of most of the day!  I asked how long it would take to complete her kitchen and he said,
"oh, about 5 or 6 weeks"...
You guessed correctly, I won my case.  God is good!
I just love His sense of humor!

The contractor never paid me the amount I was awarded.  I opened a case with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and we went to a hearing with them next.  The judge strongly suggested to the contractor that he pay me what I'd been awarded in civil court or he'd lose his contractors license and set a due date.  The due date passed, I was never paid the amount awarded me in court.
The contractor lost his license.

Long story short, I've filed all the paper work and am now waiting on the Arizona Registrar of Contractors to reimburse me for the amount owed.  Our next "waiting period" is January 11, 2011.  So I'm still patiently waiting and hopeful.

The photos above are my kitchen which also doubles as my "stamp room", the cabinets under the mirror hold my craft supplies.  That's not totally true, I have infringed a little on the kitchen cabinets, you'll find my air compressor and some boxes of stamps and small paper pads with the coffee.

I also wanted to share some cards and other projects.
This was a design team project for In Style Stamps.

It's kind of fun to see how my coloring has improved over the past year.

I was asked to be part of the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog administrative team in May 2010.

I was asked to be a design team coordinator for Michelle Perkett Studio.

I served as a design team member for The Stamping Boutique.

I was asked to be on the Clear Dollar Stamps Digital Design team.

I'm a proud member of the Bug A Boo Stamps design team.

And last but not least another year has flown by with my husband and children.  I feel so blessed to have the privilege of raising 2 more beautiful healthy kids, watching them grow and change becoming the people God meant for them to be.  My husband and I have only been married about a year and a half and again I'm blessed that he found me and wanted to join in our family and raise two more kids in his retirement years taking such good care of us all.

Thank you Lord for being with me every step of the way I couldn't have done it without You and I know You'll be right next to me in the year ahead.

Hey!  Thinking of Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps, there's a new Midweek Throwdown challenge starting today and it's "cards for kids with a missing you theme", go check it out!

Michelle Perkett Studio Sprout

Hello!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family.  Life is getting a little more  back to normal at our house I think, the Christmas tree and decorations inside have all been put away.  You might think it's a little early to do all that but you'll see why if you click here.

We have a new challenge today at Michelle Perkett Studio, it's all about celebrating the New Year!
For my card I used Sprout because she's a party girl, she's colored with Copic markers T5, T3, T2, R27, R24, R22, cut out and matted with Spellbinders Oval and Scalloped Oval dies.  I also used Neenah Solar White, Neenah Red Linen and Basic Black cardstock.  The polka dotted paper is a digital file for black and white polka dotted paper, I just used a sheet of Neenah Red Linen.

My card layout is pretty simple.  I thought Sprout would work well with a Spellbinder's Oval die so I used that to cut her out and added the black scalloped mat to frame it.  This combination didn't really "pop" when I put it on the polka dot panel so I measured the height and width of the ovals and cut a rectangle a little larger and matted it with black so it would show up well on the polka dot panel.  I didn't think it looked quite finished so I grabbed a piece of black from my scraps by my paper cutter and slid it under the red panel and liked it so I started sticking it all together.   I usually always lay all the pieces of my card out before I fasten it all down with double sided Scotch tape.  I'm a tape fiend :)   I hope my creative process makes sense!

Be sure to stop by our Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blog to see all the fabulous cards from our design team and see what the new challenge is all about!

Michelle Perkett Studio Woofie Under The Tree

Merry Christmas
and
Happy Birthday Michelle!!!

Today is my friend Michelle Perkett's birthday and I'd love to wish her a Happy Birthday!

I made a card using one of Michelle's digital images called Woofie Under The Tree.  Woofie is one of my personal favorites, I love Michelle's dog images they are so cute!  This one is colored with Copic markers, I printed it as large as I could to fit an A2 sized card and had fun coloring.  I added amber rhinestones to the tree for some sparkle after I put my card together.

Don't forget about our "Let It Snow" challenge over at the Michelle Perkett Studio blog, there's still a few days to enter!

And...  Michelle's beautiful Winter Goddess is the Spotlight Saturday image so she's 20% off this week in her Etsy store!

Michelle Perkett Studio Snowman With Heart

We have a new challenge starting today over at the Michelle Perkett Studio blog called "Let It Snow".  For my design team card I chose "Snowman With Heart" and colored him with Copic markers R22, R24, R27, BG11, BG10, T5, T3, T1, YG13, YG11, G0000.

After I colored the image I trimmed it to the size I wanted and used a Copic Multiliner pen and a ruler to draw a box around it.  This always makes me a little nervous, I know I should do it first but it's usually an afterthought.  I punched three snowflakes from some left over Neenah Solar White and used a little G0000 on them and blended them out, then used some spray adhesive a friend left behind and Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds glitter, then added a red rhinestone to the centers.

It's clean and simple showcasing a great digital image,
I'm happy with it!

I hope you'll have a chance to play in our "Let It Snow" challenge this week at the Michelle Perkett Studio Blog.  One lucky participant will win an image of their choice next Monday evening, December 28, 2010.
