I'm extremely delighted today cos Zac made it on 2 wheel bicycle :)
He has been cycling on 4 wheel bicycle all this while.

It was all sweat & aching limbs for him cos he practiced for nearly to 2 hours under the patient guidance from his parents (ahem!!). I somehow felt that my leave from work is all worth it!!

Well done Zac!! I'm so proud of you... ... *hugs*

Zac's K2 Certification Presentation cum Concert 2009

Zac's K2 Certification Presentation & Concert finally ended last Sunday @ ITE Simei Auditorium. It must have been tough on the participating children & teachers with the constant rehearsal prior to it!! *sweat*

Below is pic of Zac with his graduation gown over his concert attire. He took a pic with his best friend, Xavier. Too bad the 2 boys will not be in the same school next year *sob*

The VIPs for the event was Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean. The boys were so honoured to be able to take a pic with him :):)

We also took pic with our MPs, Ms Penny Low. She is so friendly & even joked with Amos, who was shy at first to take the pic ;p

Amos finally on the dentist chair

I tried my luck to bring Amos to the dentist once again cos he failed to co-operate during the earlier visit. Zac was co-operative on that visit though. You can read about it here. I am careful to schedule his time slot in the morning this time so that he will be alert & less cranky.
We arrived on time & Amos waited impatiently for his turn and making noises outside. He told me he was afraid and did not want to go in. He is still young and cannot comprehend the importance of having clean oral hygiene, so explanation doesn't work on him... ... However, I have my own ways to dealt with my little fella though... ... ;p

It sure works !!

A few mins later... my little mischievous became calm and walked bravely into the treatment room. He sat on the familiar little lime green ikea chair (we have that at home too) waiting for Zac to complete his restoration & polishing :) The was Zac's 3rd visit to the dentist but his first to The Dental Inn.

Finally, its Amos turn !! He climbed up the dentist chair & sat down stiffly (see pic) on it. I bet he must be really nervous!! *hug*

He started to feel more relax after chatting with the Doctor as you can see from his body language. Both his hands are behind his head after a while !! haha :D

Doctor explained that he has slight cavity showing on his upper right molar. I requested the Doctor to clear up the plague on his upper teeth for this visit. Amos felt uncomfortable with the polishing bits and so he was asked to gaggle. He enjoyed it & was fascinated with the little glass basin. Doctor taught him to press the button to re-fill his cup. This little involvement has made him really enjoyed his first dental visit ... ...

With this first visit, I believe the subsequent ones will be easier to manage cos he would have been familiar with the place & the procedure. Good Job, Amos !! :):)

A BIG Thank You to :

Dr Winston How for his patience in attending to my boys & the complimentary treatment. :):)

Zac's CNY Ang Bao

Can you believe that this is the first year I gave angbao to my own boys? I didn't give to them previously cos I find it meaningless as I will have to keep it for them eventually. However, this year is different cos my boys know the importance of saving a little each day after I gave each of them a "coin bank" last year. They were so happy to receive the POOH BEAR angbao from me on the first day of CNY. Zac loves it so much that he took his colored pencil and draw a picture of the angbao that night :)

The picture on the top right is the angbao I gave to the boys. Zac drew the pic of the angbao & I thought he captured the shape of the train quite well. He told me the train should have more carriages so he added on himself. He wrote the "Xin Nian Kuai Le" & Happy New Year" himself too!! :)

This is a miracle... ...FIRST Commentator is Carlo

Amos is dancing ... ...

This is something I find it really entertaining !! Amos will start to perform this dancing stunt whenever we ask him to dance. He must have learnt the "trick" from a few dancing shows we watched together now & then. He often makes us laugh upon seeing him doing it !! LOL :):)

I should say, he is really good at his balancing ... ... :):)

Zac's writing was published !!

Zac's chinese character writing practice was selected among a few to be published on the school's bulletin board (top row 2nd from the left) recently. I am so thrilled seeing his little effort get paid off. I showed it to him & encourage him to write better so that teacher will select his works. I felt that he is still not consistent enough in his strokes & the way he grasp the pencil though. He needs lots of patience & constant practice :):)

Buckle UP ... ...

Its not easy getting the kids to buckle up their seat belts.
Amos refused to sit on the child seat. He was carried by maid all along. Only recently, he "agreed" to sit on the seat himself. Thanks to the 2 little cute pooh bear belt cushion that I purchased. He enjoyed fastening his seat belt now & even reminded the driver to lock all the doors. hehe ;)

The DENTIST Chair

Zac complained of pain quite some times back while I brush his teeth, I thought it was time to bring him to the dentist.
I sourced around for dentist that attend to young children & finally located a really gentle & patient doctor through a friend. A few weeks before going to the dentist. I tried to explain to Zac why he need to go to the dentist & told him that the dentist is actually a "FUN" place. The doctor will teach him the correct method to brush his teeth. He will lie down on the chair, relax & just open his mouth wide enough for the doctor to check. After that, he can go home with a really nice "smile" & no more pain subsequently when I brush his teeth for him :)

Zac actually look forward to seeing the doctor after constant days of hearing from me how cool a place the dentist clinic is. Some more I promised to bring him to catch fishes after that !! LOL :)
The appointment was 3 -5 pm for both of my boys. However, we waited till 4.30pm before Zac was called to enter. The boys were feeling restless actually. I understand from the nurses that the schedule for the day were all screwed up.... sigh !! :(
Zac has a total of about 10 cavities. Since this is his first visit, the doctor explained the tools to him one by one at least the child will get prepared of what will be "entering" his mouth later on. I though that was a really good idea, I cannot help thinking how patient this doctor is :):):)

The dentist filled up 3 really BIG cavities on his incisors that were more severe. I squatted down by Zac's side, holding on to his hands & patting him now & then to give him encouragement & support. I could tell that he was enduring the pain from his constant jerks & leg moments. You can see from the pic that he was actually rather nervous. He tried to control his emotions throughout the 1/2 hour. He struggle a bit to get out of the chair but he DID NOT cry at all. Such a BRAVE BOY !! I thought he did pretty well since this was his FRIST visit!! Even an adult would be restless & sore mouth from constant opening :)

Zac still has to go for subsequent visit to get the other cavities filled up as well. He has to get the cavities on his molars nicely cleared up as the doctor mentioned that those will have to last him till he is 12 years old. I think with his first experience at the dentist, the subsequent visit will hopefully be more comfortable to him :):)

Amos was just too restless by then & refused to open his mouth. There is no way for the doctor to check on him. Anyway, I don't see much problem on Amos at the moment except for some plague on his incisors & canine which definitely need the doctor's assistance to clear it off with the appropriate tools. I have arranged for the doctor to see my boys immediately after his lunch for the next visit. In that way, the boys do not have to wait so long & could co-operate better :):)

I highly recommend this doctor :

Zac is learning Chinese

We hardly speak to the boys in mandarin at home, as such, Zac's Chinese knowledge is limited. I sent him to Chinese language school (once a week) recently & glad that he is showing some improvement in both his speech, recognition of characters & writing after 10 lessons.

The above picture showing him practising his writing at home. I'm glad I made a good move to send him for enrichment class to get him interested in the language through singing songs, learning the writing strokes & characters. Initially, I'm so afraid that he will have a phobia since he could hardly understand the language, now he could roughly figure out what people is talking about !! However, he still isn't communicating much in mandarin. I think we really have to start speaking in mandarin more often to motivate him to speak up :):)

Where is my Play-Doh?

Zac told me the other day that how come I never buy "Play-Doh" for him. I was very reluctant to buy bcos of the mess that it will create and also afraid Amos will unknowingly consume the "doh".
On my recent shopping trip, I ran out of toys to buy for the boys. So happened that the "Play-Doh" was on offer... ... and also the fact that I promised to get the boys a present this month from their good performance in their rewards book. Zac is leading with 5 star now & Amos is 4.

I din know that the "doh" is so soft. I have an impression its like "plastersine" but I'm wrong.
Its really very fun but messy and it gets stuck in between the nails if not washed clean after that.

Zac loves to play with this purple tools that cuts the doh into fine strips.

Amos was beaming with joy and he tried on all sorts of tools/stencils he could grab on. With such a fun toy, he totally forgotten that he's still nursing a weak body. His fever is under control now but his persistent cough will still trigger him to throw out. He has lost some weight definitely... sigh !! *heartache*

Who wouldn't love Amos? Such a darling boy to help me to keep the toys after play.... awwww.... *hugs*hugs* !!
Amos, get well soon so that you could return to school ok?
