Ghost in the Shell Teaser Trailer - Scarlett Johansson

The first set of teasers for the new live-action Ghost in the Shell film starring Scarlett Johansson is here! And I just do not know how to feel. Honestly, this is just a series of teaser clips more than anything, but the quality of the cinematography looks incredibly cheap. Rupert Sanders is not known for being a good director, but I am really hoping that this movie will not suck. I want it to good so bad! Scarlett Johansson does look good as the Major, so  that's something. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know!

Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer 2

During the Olympics, a new trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One was revealed. And it is phenomenal! Now this is how you make a trailer. There is almost nothing that spoilers the film, or at least not without context. Take note studios, this is how you make a trailer! And all the scenes of the Imperials look incredible. Even though it is CGI, the Star Destroyers look just like the original models used in Star Wars (1977). The tone is serious and war movie-like, yet not dark for the sake of darkness. Alan Tudyk plays humorously deadpan droid, K-2SO, and Donnie Yen looks absolutely awesome (seriously, go watch the Ip Man trilogy to understand why). Everything about this trailer makes me excited for Rogue One! And after an abysmal and disappointing summer of movies, Rogue One is what we need to redeem a slow year by December. What did you think of the trailer? Please comment below and check back soon for my review of Suicide Squad!

Justice League Trailer

Wow, just wow; I don't hate this trailer. It isn't great or anything, but it is not complete garbage. Jason Momoa as Aquaman is convincing and at least looks cool. Ezra Miller as The Flash works for me from the little we can see. He's funny and quirky. While Grant Gustin over on the CW will be the definitive for me and most others, I will give Miller a chance. But that new Flash costume is garbage, absolutely hysterical, at least at first glance. However, Ray Fisher as Cyborg is barely shown.

Here's the thing. After Batman v Superman, my expectations for DC are literally nonexistent. I cannot be disappointed by anything DC delivers because being disappointed requires expectations. So, I will just take whatever DC throws at us. The trailer's song, "Icky Thump" by The White Stripes, sets a fun tone, and the humor almost kind of works. Sure, even if DC is trying to copy Marvel, a second rate Marvel knock-off is better than first rate DC any day. The humor somewhat works, although I can see some hating it. Ben Affleck proved to be the only truly great part of BvS earlier this year, and he looks quite good in Justice League as well. The lack of Superman is probably the best thing to happen to this movie. He will probably appear at some point, but if the formation of the Justice League is without Henry Cavill's Superman, this movie might just work. But Zack Sndyer is the director, and that's never a good thing if you enjoy, you know, character development, color, fun, quality performances, and practical effects. Who knows? Maybe Snyder can finally make a great DC movie. Stranger things have happened.

Assassin's Creed Movie Trailer

Finally, after years of announcements, pictures, and whatever else, we now have a trailer for Assassin’s Creed! Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard star in the film and Justin Kurzel directs. As for the trailer, some parts are cool, while others leave me so undecided. The film adaptation of the plot is certainly different, but interesting. It doesn't appear to be adapting any of the Assassin's Creed games, which isn't a bad thing. While I have abandoned the video game franchise after Assassin's Creed IV, Assassin's Creed 2 and 4 are great games with relatively interesting plots. So, for me, the change from the game to the movie doesn't necessarily make me mad.

Now, back to the trailer. It looks fine. The action is kind of cool, albeit underwhelming from just the trailer. Something about the trailer just does not impress me. It does not make me think the movie will suck, but it fails to make me go, "Wow, this is going to be awesome!" And much like the game, outside of the Animus looks meh and inside it looks fun. But what is up with the stupid harness thing? Honestly, I need to see more before making any decision. However, I am curious as to what others think, especially fans and those who have never heard of the franchise. Please let me know in the comments!

The Magnificent Seven Teaser Trailer

The Magnificent Seven, an upcoming remake, of a remake, which has been remade various times, and it stars Chris Pratt, Peter Sarsgaard, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Denzel Washington, and others. Finally, a western! And starring Chris Pratt? Sign me up!

For those unaware, The Magnificent Seven is a remake of the 1960 film, The Magnificent Seven, which was a remake of the classic Japanese film, Seven Samurai (1954). Usually, Hollywood remaking an old classic is an instant turnoff for many, but I am excited and optimistic. Magnificent Seven is already a remake, so saying that remaking is an awful idea is rather unfair. Actually, taking one of the best westerns and revamping it with a modern cast and some style makes me excited! Antoine Fuqua directs the film, and visually, it looks good, and the all-star already makes this a must-watch. But as a teaser, this trailer has me excited for a rip-roaring western adventure. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Teaser Trailer

The first official teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is here! And it is exciting! Wow, Rogue One looks great, and the grittiness of the Imperial era Star Wars is perfect. It looks dirty, low-tech, and everything that Imperial era Star Wars should look like. In fact, the film looks and feels very much like the Battlefront video games, since those gave players the perspective of a soldier in the larger battle.

As we already knew, the film follows the group of Rebels that stole the Death Star plans, and the cast is absolutely incredible and many of them are not even shown clearly yet. Ip Man actor and martial artist, Donnie Yen, shows off his considerable skills in the trailer, which is exciting. Also, I have seen some people associate the famous quote, "Many Bothans died to bring us this information" with this film, but actually, Mon Mothma said that in Return of the Jedi in reference to information about the second Death Star, so Rogue One has nothing to do with that quote. Otherwise, this trailer is exciting! But it also does not spoil anything really, or at least it does not appear to. And maybe I will write more about the film and this trailer later in the week, but for now, comment with your thoughts below!

Ben-Hur Trailer

Ben-Hur, the 1959 Charlton Heston classic, of the same name, which won 11 Oscars, is getting a remake, or rather re-adaptation of the novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. The original Ben-Hur is a historical epic that spans more than three hours and is one of the best film epics of all-time. If you are a cinefile, you should watch the original. On the other hand, this new Ben-Hur looks like a typical Roman era revenge tale. The CGI is subpar, the set design appears adequate, and the casting is fine I suppose. If this wasn't titled Ben-Hur, there would be nothing really to say about the film. But this is a remake of a classic, so it is impossible not to compare. It just seems unnecessary and pointless and all around meh. What do you think? Please comment below and check back soon for more movie reviews!

Star Wars: Episode VIII Production Teaser

Star Wars: Episode VIII Production Teaser dropped with a brief clip from the new film! Obviously, if you have not seen The Force Awakens, spoilers are ahead. Now this production announcement is an interesting idea. How often does a film announce that filming has started? But this is Star Wars, so it makes sense. As expected, the clip is not anything new or particularly exciting, but it is an interesting piece marketing. Do you have any thoughts? Please comment below and check back tomorrow for the first part of my spoiler discussion of The Force Awakens!

Suicide Squad Trailer #1 Review

Let's face it people, regardless of whether or not the movie sucks, this trailer is a ton of fun! And the use of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" is absolute perfection! You can never go wrong with Queen music, and the editing is top notch. You might remember a few years ago, I created a movie tribute (watch it below), and I created a few others that were never published, so editing clips to music something I always like seeing. Anyway, the trailer is excellent! And it actually gets me excited for the movie itself. The creators seem to be having fun with it, instead of being all dark and brooding. Plus, villains are always the best. A movie about villains is what I have wanted for a long time, and the Suicide Squad is the perfect vehicle for that concept. Even though using rockin' 70s and 80s tunes is taking a page out of Guardians of the Galaxy's playbook, it would be great if Suicide Squad used some great classic tunes during the film. However, that probably will not be the case. Honestly, though, Suicide Squad has the potential to be DC's best film since The Dark Knight. Granted, that's not saying much. What do you think of the trailer? Do you plan to see this film? Please comment below and let me know! And below is my movie tribute if anyone is interested.

Deadpool Trailer 2 Review

Deadpool's second trailer is out! And like before, there are two trailers, the clean Green Band trailer (above), and the R rated Red Band trailer, which you can find online if you want to see it. The first trailer was funnier, and again, the Green Band trailer was funnier too or at least for me, except for the violence, which is the best part about the Red Band. And there is a lack of breaking the Fourth-Wall, which is one of the key aspects of Deadpool. However, the jokes are relatively funny and the action looks a ton of fun.

But here’s an idea. If Fox was serious about making money, why not make two versions of Deadpool. A PG-13 "Green Band" version and the original R rated one. As shown in the trailer, the movie can be edited and cut to be cleaner. The only issue would be the violence since that is harder to cut than language, but making two versions would be an interesting idea. Plus, cleaner comedy is usually smarter comedy since it takes more writing skill to make it funny, which is my preference. But as a business strategy, why not try? Of course, that is highly unlikely, but it is an idea to throw around. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know! Also, this poster below is hysterical!

X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer

The X-Men franchise returns next year with X-Men: Apocalypse, one of my most anticipated films of the year! Thus far, we know that the film will be set in the 80s and that it will follow the Apocalypse storyline. Is it just me or does it look like they are using makeup to make James McAvoy look older? He looks a bit strange, and the clip of him bald at the end is rather funny, but he will make it work. With that aside, Apocalypse looks so much better in motion than any of the production stills that were released, and Oscar Isaac is sure to deliver in the role. Much like Days of Future Past, Apocalypse seems to be following the storyline with relative accuracy, or at least for a comic book film. It is definitely different, but many of the key aspects are still there, and if Bryan Singer can deliver another film on par with Days of Future Past, we are in for a real treat this summer. My only real issue is that, personally, the talk about Apocalypse and his relation to the Bible is not the direction I wanted them to go, but it's just a movie, so no deal hopefully. Other than that, X-Men: Apocalypse is right behind Captain America: Civil War and Rogue One as my most anticipated films of the year! Are you excited? Please comment below and let me know!

Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer

A sequel to Roland Emmerich's classic alien invasion film is on its way, and the trailer for that sequel is here, Independence Day: Resurgence. Honestly, there is not much to see in the trailer. Earth is being attacked by aliens again, and on Independence Day, we must save the day, again. Jeff Goldblum is starring in the film, which is never a bad thing, along with Bill Pullman and Liam Hemsworth. What more is there to say? It is a Roland Emmerich film with aliens and explosions! Ironically, the film is being released on June 24, 2016, and not 4th of July weekend, and who knows, if the reviews are good, I'll go see it in theaters. What do you think? Star Trek Beyond Trailer

Star Wars might be in theaters, but the new trailer for Star Trek Beyond is here! And it looks like a lot of fun. J.J. Abrams' work on the previous two Star Trek films was quite good as he delivered two very fun and entertaining sci-fi action flicks. With Abrams working on Star Wars, Fast & Furious director, Justin Lin, is at the helm of this new Star Trek film. From the trailer, the movie is trying to really focus on the action movie aspect with the modern music and fast paced cuts, which will likely disappoint some old Trek fans, much like the last two films. However, I personally like both the action heavy new films, as well as some of the older ones, like Wrath of Khan and First Contact. With Abrams out, it will be interesting to see what Star Trek looks like without lens flares! But all kidding aside, the trailer looks like a lot of fun, so that's never a bad thing. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Teaser Trailer

Written by JK Rowling herself and directed by David Yates, the director behind the last four Harry Potter films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an upcoming Harry Potter spinoff set in 1926 New York following the character, Newt Scamander. Harry Potter is a legendary franchise, and while it is not my absolute favorite, how can I not be excited for what the franchise delivers next!? One of the interesting aspects of the film is that the screenplay is by J. K. Rowling. Hopefully, her writing skills will translate to screenplay writing. My only concern is that the star, Eddie Redmayne, was awful in Jupiter Ascending, but that's more likely the The Wachowskis’ fault than anything. As for the trailer itself, it is a teaser trailer, so very little is actually shown, but it looks great, and the period setting should be fun. What do you think, please comment below and let me know.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Trailer

The first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is here, and it isn't as awful as it could be! Actually, Stephen Amell as Casey Jones is going to be great, and Megan Fox is not in the trailer much either, which is always a good thing. And if you remember my review of the first film, it was not good, and you can read the review here. But one of the best parts shown in this trailer is that movie looks more fun and cartoony, which, for TMNT, isn't actually a bad thing. Even if the movie sucks, at least it might be fun, unlike the first film. Also, the Turtles themselves look all around better and more colorful, and a Japanese actor, Brian Tee, is cast as The Shredder! On the other hand, Tyler Perry is Baxter Stockman, but hey, maybe he will fit the role. Overall, the trailer isn't bad half considering my expectations are astronomically low. What do you think of the trailer? Please comment below and let me know!

New Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer

What was that!? Seriously, what the heck was that ridiculous excuse for a trailer!? The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer dropped the other day, and after watching it, the trailer destroys the slight hint of intrigue shown in the previous trailer! Sure, I might have somewhat of a negative outlook on DC and Zack Sndyer, but the first trailer was not half bad. On the other hand, this trailer shows WAY TOO MUCH! It shows us a condensed version of the movie, instead of a trailer, which is supposed to tease the movie, or at least that is what it appears to be. Basically, we know that Batman and Superman will fight, and then a creature, presumably Doomsday, will pop up with Wonder Woman for the Final Act. Maybe, the trailer is intended to mislead us, but the plot looks rather obvious.

With the crazy amount of spoilers aside, let’s talk about the rest of this disaster. As expected, Jessie Esssienberg is absolutely horrendous! He plays the goofy character he always acts, and he does not fit in with the rest of the cast, at least in that one scene. He did have one good line, “And that is a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds,” but the rest was awful. The beginning of the trailer with Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent meeting is strange considering how long it is for a trailer. Visually, that first scene actually reminds me of a car commercial. Lastly, the attempts at humor are abysmal. I want to remain positive, until seeing the movie, but at least everyone can agree that this trailer is about on par with The Amazing Spider-Man’s trailer for being a disaster, mostly due to spoilers. Suicide Squad looks good; unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, that is not to say that there are not positive elements, like Allfeck’s Batman. Other than that, we will have to wait and see. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know, and check back next week for more Star Wars posts!

Captain America: Civil War Trailer Review

Captain America: Civil War's first trailer is here, and yes, against my better judgment, I watched a trailer! Captain America: Civil War is one of my most anticipated films of the next year, and for obvious reason. The Winter Soldier is still one of Marvel's best, and Civil War has the potential to top even the original Avengers. My first impression of the trailer is the conflict is on a smaller scale than the original comic book, but I hope that it still captures the political undertones of the original story. However, with the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man, it is already hit hard on the emotional front. Also, Cap and Bucky double teaming Iron Man is one of the coolest things ever! Overall, this trailer looks amazing, and this is definitely going to be the movie of the summer. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Official Trailer #1

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an upcoming adaptation of the Pride and Prejudice parody novel of the same name. Despite being a "comedy," the trailer appears fairly serious, which could likely be the film's downfall. There is not a single joke in the entire trailer! Having never seen an adaptation of the original Pride and Prejudice, I cannot say too much about the film as a parody, but anything with zombies and comedy at least interests me. However, I know that there are plenty of readers who do like the original novel, so here is the trailer. Let me know what you think in the comments! And check back tomorrow for the first part of my "Ask Me Anything: Q&A - Answers."

Warcraft Trailer

Warcraft, the upcoming adaptation of the massively successful World of Warcraft MMORPG video game, has a new trailer! Due to the insane cost over time, I have never played Warcraft. However, like any good MMO gamer, I know about Warcraft, and from the trailer, the movie looks interesting. What stands out the most is that the Orc part of the movie looks exactly like the video game cinematics from Blizzard, but that is exactly why it looks so out of place compared to the live-action parts. It looks like this is half animated and the other half live-action. Maybe future trailers will show scenes where the two blend better but the CGI design is too animated to believe. But who knows, maybe the finish product will look a lot better. Considering that Warcraft was pushed out of December thanks to Star Wars, maybe the extra time will give the animators the ability to add greater details. Otherwise, I absolutely love high fantasy and I want this movie to be great, because high fantasy is in short supply after the end of the Middle Earth saga. Also, if you watch Vikings, you know that Travis Fimmel is great in this type of setting! What do you think of the trailer? Are you interested? Please comment below and let me know!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer 3

The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is here! And you can watch it above. After much deliberation, I have decided to not watch the trailer for the same reasons why I avoided the trailers for Age of Ultron. Without any preconceived notions and expectations, my experience of the film will be free of any influences. Few things are more enjoyable than being truly surprised, and that is what I am hoping for with this new Star Wars film. With that said, if you want to watch it, do so! In the meantime, to countdown to the film's release, I will be writing several lists of Star Wars' best characters, stories, video games, and more! Expect to see those in the coming months, as well as a post outlining what to expect in those posts.
