The Nuln Spearman

... finally settled in Pfeildorf :)

What can I say? I was lucky to get this rare model a few years ago, and given the crazy price I paid, I had to include it in my imperial army, as a member of the Guild of Lamplighters and Watchmen.

Empire archer #9: the Hooded Man

One of the last unreleased Marauder Miniatures I've been able to grab in the last few years, the "hooded man" is a welcome addition to Pfeildorf's shooters, considering that we have only three models of archers available in the whole Marauder range (you've already seen them a couple of times).

About models you've already seen, third (and last) version of citizen CZ18:

Bergjaeger #10: the unreleased hunter

At last! The tenth forester is finally done: this is an unreleased Marauder Miniatures warrior I bought last year, and to be honest, I've had some difficulties to find a proper color scheme. In addition, as I didn't want to cut the slotta bar off, I couldn't make the model stand on a rock, which makes him slightly smaller than the other miniatures he's supposed to lead... Anyway.

And here is the completed regiment:

Considering the hornblower as a musician and the druid/magic user as a staff bearer, this unit is 156 points worth, which means that my imperial force finally reaches the 1000-point threshold. Yippee!

It is time to unlock a first stretch goal... an element of the baggage train :)

Bergjaeger #9: the staff bearer

This model is an unreleased Marauder Miniatures wizard (or Magic User) initially referenced MU3. It is now distributed by Warmonger Miniatures as a "Time Warped Wizard". To be honest, I understand why this model was not released, as the sculpting job is err... quite bad actually.

I've tried to improve it by replacing the original staff with a new one, stolen from a Rackham orc shaman. I will count him as a staff/standard bearer :)

And here is the third trio of foresters:

Unreleased crossbowman

I'm really happy to have found this unreleased Marauder model. To my knowledge, this is the only crossbowman of the whole Marauder Miniatures range, which explains why I had to enrole older shooters from the Citadel Fighters range. Cherry on the cake, the sculpting job is really clean, with crisp detail, a real pleasure to put some paint on it!

2017 re-cap

Painting

In 2017, I've focused all my efforts on the imperial army of Pfeildorf: I've reworked the 2016 flagellants, and added a second regiment of fanatics. The militia of the Guildhouse, initiated in 2016, is now complete, and I've reached my objective of achieving the 20 mandatory halberdiers. I have also added a second rank to the regiment of mercenary swordsmen.

In other words, I have painted 1 MM42 Ogre, 1 MM64 Halfling, 1 MM16 Giant Slayer, 2 MM10 Dwarfs, 2 MM73 Warhounds, 4 MM62 Citizen, 10 MM65 flagellants and 14 MM60 Fighters. And I have complemented these Marauder Miniatures by a few Citadel models: 1 donkey, 1 Standard Bearer, 2 C46 Villagers and 13 F2 Fighters/Dogs of War. In total, 52 miniatures: possibly my best year...

As you can see below, some of the painted models are already useless: the monk, the beggar and the warrior-priest are not anymore part of the flagellants, the initial standard bearer of St Quintus has been replaced, and I have two fanatics on their own.

Collecting

2017 has been an amazing year too for my collection of imperial models, with the acquisition of several unreleased Marauder Miniatures. The first one is already painted: the roman legionnaire. The other ones can be seen below:
  • a second unreleased warrior
  • a horse (used as a prototype for Empire and Chaos war horses)
  • the war altar.

Beside that, I now have the whole MM62 Citizen range but one model: CZ 28, the girl holding a goose (if you have one and want to sell it, let me know).

and Gaming!

Just kidding ^_^ I'm only using the rulebook to build the units I paint:

Let's see:
  • 272 points for Pfeildorf's militia: 32 Ersatzholder with Spears and Light Armour, including musician and standard-bearer;
  • 110 points for the mercenary swordsmen: 10 Estalian Hombres Villanos, including a standard bearer;
  • 99 points for the first unit of fanatics: 8 Fleglers with double handed weapons and a standard-bearer;
  • 99 points for the second unit of fanatics: 8 Fleglers with double handed weapons and a standard-bearer;
  • 207 points for the City Watch: 21 Helblitzen including musician and standard-bearer.
which makes only 787 points! And already two years spent on this army... Next time, I'll do High Elves :)

In the meantime, Happy holidays!

Swordsman #8

Another unreleased warrior from Marauder Miniatures. He looks like a gladiator or a pit fighter, not totally fitting in an imperial army, but acceptable in a unit of mercenaries.

Swordsman #7

Another unreleased Marauder warrior (easy to find, compared to the previous one). Quite fun to paint :)

For the shield, Ive used once again the following illustration:

Marauder unreleased warrior #1

To conclude this last set of militiamen, a roman legionnaire, lost in the Old World. The model is an unreleased warrior from the Marauder Miniatures range, most likely scupted by Aly Morrison. A real pleasure to paint :)

And the complete set:
